To be fair, in the show they say that inquisition ended, and, it's accommodating both choices. In both options inquisition comes to an end. It's just in one it blends into chantry, becomes peace keeping force under divine and in other option it is officially disbands without pleading allegiance to any faction. Both those options are technically an end for inquisition as independent organization.

After giving some thought to Meredith's situation, it might be something similar to golem creation where the person is preserved in lyrium somehow. This does open up a lot of questions with regard to all the people the red templars used to grow red lyrium.

Regarding the issue with Absolution being too short, I think it was more of an issue of "trying to explain a lot of things in case it does not get a second season" Netflix is known to cancel projects. i'm also sure some of this characters will appear in some form in Dreadwolf, and they wanted to introduce it here.

I definitely feel like the show was extremely rushed. For the amount of plot that they had to cramp into these episodes, I wished they had a bit more budget to either extend the episodes or create more. I couldn't get invested into the characters because I wasn't given any time to care for them. And even though I'm a fan of the lore/games, I feel like this show is made for fans and fans only. One of the things I really enjoyed was how every 'combat class' got a chance to shine and be badass. So often in fantasy it's only the magic users that are real threats. • @YoRouable
    @YoRouable Před rokem +92

I went into viewing Absolution with low expectations, and actually ended up loving it. I genuinely liked all the new characters, and the short runtime didn't bother me because it basically just felt like a movie spliced into 6 pieces. There were elements of the show that I was incredibly impressed by. The music and sound-effects, for one. And the trailers that came previously didn't really do the animation justice, in my opinion. Those fight scenes were very dynamic in a way that we haven't really seen in other Dragon Age tie-ins. I just keep thinking of how stiff and goofy the mages were in Dawn of the Seeker, and how there was only a couple of mages in Redemption because of the lower special effects budget. And compared to Redemption and Dawn of the Seeker, Absolution not only felt like it was written by people who were very familiar with the world and lore, but the actual quality and budget seemed very high--probably why the series was only 6 episodes, tbh. They probably could've squeezed out a few more episodes if the quality was lower, but that's not really something I'd be willing to trade. Now....if only we can get netflix to greenlight a second season. The only thing that drove me bonkers was the cliffhanger ending, because netflix is notorious for canceling shows after 1 season---even if they do incredibly well.

I as well had low expectations and was pleasantly surprised. I also liked the art style combined with the low-fps reminiscent of animations from the 90s. Why did Hira put her trust in Red lyrium statue to help her get rid of Venatori? Venatori do have connections to Red lyrium, and also to Cory, who himself was partly red lyrium, I guess connecting the dots might not be as obvious to someone who wouldnt know as much, but Hira was a member of the inqusition, she should be able to connect the dots. First: that Red lyrium isnt exactly a sign of an honest and totally not powerhungry monster and second: that Venatori and red lyrium have a whole lot in common and effectively fought on the same side of the war that she took part in.

I don't think that will happen, because that will ruin the experience of people that don't share those choices.
That's why they are very vague with many of the references to choices, that's why you never see a confirmation in books or comics about the origin, gender, class, survival status etc of the Warden, or Hawke'gender, class and fate or Inquisitor's gender or class.
Or why even if in the books Alistair is used as King, the writers especificied that even if he is not King he still goes through those adventures unless he is dead (he even references it as a Warden in Inquisition), or why they never mentioned Wynne's name in Inquisition while Cole or other characters talked about the Asunder events.
The Inquisition we knew in the game exists no more even if you choose to keep it. So what they say here about he Inquisition not being around anymore is true no matter what choice you made.
      Etc.

Oh and regarding Meridith, Hawke never actually killed her - she just turned into lyrium. It is perfectly plausible she is still alive/never died. Most people we see overtaken by red lyrium in Inquisition appear like dead lyrium corpses but red templar horrors and behemoths seem to be entirely lyrium and are still walking, living abominations.
Also I didn't see any signs of Meridith actually moving and she didn't move for like a decade, unless there is a good excuse I don't think she moved/regained life on her own. Perhaps her consciousness was just dormant... or like Shale she saw everything around her but couldn't do anything. It is also worth noting she had the red lyrium idol with her, but now Solas/someone else has it - the loss of her beloved idol might have been a catalyst for her awakening.
My theory is that she is now a large paralysed piece of lyrium hidden in some red templar hold. Her consciousness might "move" inside the lyrium but not move physically. She could still spread lyrium though... honestly looks like a perfect way to create a boss arena in a future game.

All I can say is that: it felt like a main quest + romance speedrun that you were just dropped into.
People are also comparing it to arcane, but I hardly think it's fair since arcane had been in development for 6 or so years (from what I've heard) before it was released and it's based on a completely different style of game, where you need no knowledge of lore or the characters you play.
There could have been more on all the characters. But especially Qwydion and Lacklon. Would have liked to see their stories.
It just seemed as messy as when DA:I was in production. And maybe things were cut because it didn't fit within the world that is leading towards DA:D.
It would have maybe been better if it didn't fit into the world.

I don't think I ever had such a visceral reaction to a show of any kind. It's the WORST kind of betrayal.
And when you know how strongly she felt about the subject and to have it be the person the person it was. OMFG I wanted to punch like everyone. I didn't sob or anything it was angry tears and jesus I hadn't cried hard like that in so long. I never thought it would happen because of a show lol
I really liked that there wasn't a "final boss battle" in the traditional sense. It was more satisfying to me the way they ended the conflict. The real struggle was all mental and you can see her progression throughout the show that led to that moment. She was always a dope fighter. That's what her life was about. A mass murderer in training.
The scene with the "spirit" that poked through a literal veil was also super interesting and it has lore implications that dovetailed with my original theory about who the old gods were and what the veil actually is. I talked about it briefly on one of your older videos.

All the wonder of going to a magic shop was made to look like going to a grocery store. A lot of good references for fans of the game, but more a sidequest than an epic. A sidequest that could have used a cameo by one of the Inquisitor's companions...Sera maybe.
As for all the gayness, not really relevant. If Blood Magic couldn't be bothered to be made to look and sound taboo, I suppose all the gayness was normal too. The whole thing needed more contrast between light and dark. It was too sunny in atmosphere and scenery.

Did Cassandra and Leliana actually task them to steal the infinitum or did Hira lie about that in the first place including lying to Fairbanks? Basically, did Hira make the whole mission up? I thought the end made it clear the Inquisition wouldn't acctually have allowed this mission because it would start a war with Tevinter. Also I'm not exactly sure why Miriam was against Neb being brought back, was it explained that that wasn't really him somehow. The ritual itself didn't even require someone sacrifice their life. Is there some other reason beyond Miriam not trusting blood magic?

Not too sure why everyone is thinking that both sides are disbanded. There is a literal text that explains fighting against Solas can work but your forces can become corrupted.
Its the saying of leave the dead to bury the dead, Neb shouldn’t have never come back, they didn’t do a good job on Rez’s character development of doing anything to bring him back (insanity mage mode ig)
The ritual used a bunch of dead templar/chantry workers including a lot of dragon blood. Ofc bringing someone back to life is gunna cost a lot of blood too.
