I am a 22 year old traveling the United States that posts day in the life vlogs of a truck driver. I attended CFI's trucking school at crowder college and have been with CFI since August 2021. I got into trucking because I've always wanted to live life on the road since I was 18 years old. Originally I was going to do vanlife but decided to live the trucking life instead because it was a better financial decision. I mean I have free housing and I travel the U.S. It's awesome! I mean what job other than trucking can you listen to podcasts while you work and travel the country for free??? i love

I hear ya bro, I love driving, never thought I'd be doing this,but it's been over 20yrs and I'm still loving. Pretty much been all over the US, I once delivered a load of diesel fuel to Disney World, even though I didn't go there for fun,just the whole idea of being in Disney World was really fascinating to me.
I have a question: Does good pay have a lot to do with loving trucking? In other words, if you’re not making what you want and are miserable driving truck, does that mean you’re not a good fit for it, or does that mean that good money is necessary to enjoy driving truck?

It's a complete lifestyle change
These past few years i switched to short haul to get more time at home with the family. The winters are extremely bad in the northern part of BC Canada and the stress had been wearing on me for the last two years. I may be taking a break from driving for awhile and try something less stressful

It's only for the right person, if a load ain't going by your home, your not gonna see home. Shower with the homeless, piss on a pickle jug, waiting to get unloaded can be frustrating, the chick's you meet don't have teeth, cars hassle trucks, streets aren't made for trucks... its not bad for the right person. 10hrs of cruise control till you hit the next flying j.

Over the road , you have literally no life if you drive for those big company’s , I’d say get a local job you’ll make good money some even more definitely more that you would at a big otr company
U can’t have any relation ships cause you will never see them, but it would be nice for introverted people who like to keep to themselves

Air fryer tip. Wrap the chicken in aluminum foil and add butter and seasoning. When it's almost done take it out of the aluminum foil and keep cooking it. It will be grilled and so juicy!

As a retired truck driver. Looking back at it. It was the best job I could ever have. I loved it. It’s not easy. Taking a cargo load a company made to keep in business to its destination. All the while keeping it Safe for everyone.
Kid, I've been out here 25 yrs pulling flatbed and I love this profession. I have to say if more drivers were like you, polite, chill, truck isn't all beat up and damaged, the trucking industry would have a better public image. Keep up the good work and stay safe.

I used to listen to books on tape before we had podcasts. I started driving otr in 1992 we didn't have cellphones or computers. Loose leaf log books was the best. We stopped once a day to call our dispatcher to check in. Unless we were empty. No rules on idling the truck. We had manual fuel pumps and the diesel doctor! We were outlaws.

I couldn't be a trucker. I have nightmares every night about being on the freeway and getting into a wreck. It happened once before and I shouldn't have lived. It's been years but I still have nightmares. So I'm grateful for people like you! Thank you
some of my friends try to discourage me from becoming a trucker but this motivates me even more so thank you for that, also i would suggest using aluminum foil in your air fryer because it cools quickly and you can just grab it to take the food out and it collects the grease so you don't get the tray all messy like that

Going pee in a bottle, washing dishes in the public bathroom sinks, waiting in line to use a shower, hoping there's laundry machines around. It's not for everyone but for me it's these challenges that make it fun. It makes it interesting

I take care of mentally disabled and psychotic people in a state run CILA ( community integrated living arrangement ) basically a home that is used to store the people in society who cannot help themselves. It’s very stressful, I get no support from the office or the Q’s , therapists , doctors , . It’s really just the staff and the on site nurses that come twice a day. I work 76-98 hour shifts weekly sometimes and am paid a bare bones salary. Not Even hourly. But at the end of the day after working here for two years. I do enjoy helping out my clients. I have helped two of my clients get jobs and open bank accounts. The others I am still doing my best day by day to encourage them however I can. It isn’t easy , but it has humbled me.
The reason it works for you is because you're humble and look at the possibilities, gbu in jesus name 🙏
Question: how many times do you get in and out of your rig per day?
6-8. 2 in morning, 4 for bathroom breaks, maybe 2 when I'm parked for the night
Best part: you only need a high school degree, and if you have connections maybe not even that! This job is accessable to everyone, there's a demand for more people, it's fun, you get to travel, AND you make good money. Just a great job overall!
