Edel Fox : Recipient of TG4 Young Musician of the Year 2004 ; Milltown Malbay concertina player,
Edel Fox has performed in concerts from North America to Asia with many well known Irish musicians including Cork box player Jackie Daly, Cherish the Ladies and Connemara fiddlers, The Kane Sisters. She is a regular teacher at the Willie Clancy School of Music and at Éigse Mrs Crotty in Co. Clare annually. Other festivals include the German Concertina Meeting in Wendland, Germany, the Northeast Concertina Workshop in Amherst MA, Catskills Irish Arts Week in NY and Elkins Irish Arts Week, WV, to name but a few. Edel Fox also works in the TV industry as a producer, specializing in arts and cultural programming for broadcasters such as TG4, RTÉ, BBC and Sky Arts. The above clip was recorded live in Limerick University at the TG4 Music Awards 2004.
Is as Sráid na Cathrach, Co.Chláir go Edel Fox agus chuala sí neart ceoil agus í ag fás aníos. Bá é Noel HiIll an chéad múinteoir a bhí aice agus bhí an-tionchar aige ar a cuid ceoil. Bhí Tim Collins and Dympna O'Sullivan mar mhúinteóirí aice freisin . Ina déagóir bhíodh sí ag casadh le Jackie Daly go h-áitiúil. Tá cuid mhór den domhan siúlta aice lena cuid ceoil agus sa mbaile nuair nach mbíonn sí ag múineadh is minic lei a bheith ag seinnt leis an grúpa, ICE - Irish Concertina Ensemble, ag déanamh taighde agus ag léiriú cláracha ceoil ar TG4 ar nós Bosca Ceoil, Fleadh TV agus Port.

Gorgeous. Míle buíochas for this lovely upload. my HDLs are now stratosphere - I love the concertina/Irish. I google and there's not much. How did the concertina find such a special niche in Irish trad? I assume it's not even Irish but I can't much on its presence in other music cultures.
We have some great playlists of concertina players on our channel which I'm sure that you will enjoy, Edel Fox Playlist, Clare Concertina Players Playlist and Noel Hill Playlist. Bain sult astu !!
@@TradTG4 Thanks Trad TG4. Since, I have seen Wikipedia has an outstanding review - the history in England, Germany early 19th, the dissemination to various places including Tango in Argentina. Only a short reference to Ireland and the 1960s but I know for sure there was plenty concertina playing in Munster in the early 20thC.
WOW those 2 mics did wonderful job, but not as good as Edel and Eoin! Bravo
