Donna T, be careful not to look to men to follow them, who can lead you into error, but seek the FACE OF GOD, who is eternal, who doesn't change, the same yesterday, today and forever. He calls us to repent and SEEK HIS FACE; in Him is no darkness at all. And His nature is shown in this; He came to save the lost, giving His own life to save those who had no hope. Such a God is worthy of devotion. And He tore the veil so that we can enter into the presence of God. That means that THE ONLY THING that stops us from being in direct relationship with God, is our choice to repent and seek Him, giving up all else. He wants us to be BORN of the SPIRIT! This is the will of God! Then He will not say; 'I never KNEW you, you workers of lawlessness', but 'come in, good and faithful servant'. It is not enough to know the word; we need to KNOW GOD.

About 5 spiritual minutes later I went to Bible College for a few years and KNOW that my gift is not tongues and am so glad that it's a gift that actually helps other Christians!
I have learned how to stop trying to do God's will and am learning how to let Him do it completely.
Our efforts, as sincere as they may be, are just that. Ours.
When we are weak, then He is strong is a wonderful and true passage!
May God bless you and your beloveds as you seek to serve Him in Spirit and in Truth!

Just for you let me share with you as a Christian brother, Yes i firmly believe the Bible but not in what is called dispensational truth, I do believe what is written and yes I speak in tongues, to me I never had a problem with that and if I meet Christians who not speak in tongues It is not an issue to me except that they do missing an important part in their Christian walk I think. (that just my opinion)
I was attending a Pentecostal church and came to know an older gentleman from a Dutch Reformed background and they are very conservative, but somehow, he got baptized in the H. Spirit and spoke in tongues, now I am from the RC church when the mass was still done in Latin so I did understand Latin, I was a choir boy for maybe 10 years or so, the Lord saved me and baptized me and I do speak in tongues for the past 50 plus years.
I have been a Construction Manager and ran very large projects so a down to earth sort of guy, but one day in church the older gentlemen was sitting beside me and was speaking in tongues so I listen intently, he was praying in Latin and I perfectly understood what he was praying and it sounded wonderfully sweet...later I told him, and he sounded so surprised at the same time he felt so happy about my sharing this with him.
Now if you sincere yes, it is oke both ways I am not a supporter of the prosperity teachings or guys like Copeland, Creflo Dollar, Joyce Meyer etc. etc. but I always, enjoy the many ministries I see preaching the Gospel, labels don't mean much to me, Jesus does......
I am very concerned about what is happening with many of the mega-churches like Potters House, and many others are not preaching the true gospel.

Speaking in tongues is a spiritual gift and not all of us are gifted with this. I’m not and I’m not concerned about it. I’m curious as to why it’s so important to you, and others for that matter.
Granted, I’m skeptical about tongues and prophesy during our present times. Evangelism is all the prophesy we need. Not doom and gloom to force repentance. Even Justin disagrees with both prophesy and tongues as being useful today.

When I haphazardly was about to make my marriage vows, I heard a voice in my head tell me how serious this was. I rememeber asking for help to do my best. I considered myself an atheist at the time, but The Lord was faithful ,and helped me to grow in my marriage for 35 years now. I also heard the voice when my strongholds were broken, and my son, at the time also an atheist- pointed me to Jesus. Surprisingly the first thing I laid my eyes on, was a New Testament the kids got at school. I felt a hand on my right shoulder, and a mild voice said "now, will you listen".
So I started to read Matthew, Mark and most of Luke. I wanted that, but I only saw a teacher, and that wasn't enough. So I put the book away, and pondered(prayed about it?). Next time I open The NT, it opens on John 1. Case shut. I became a believer.

I felt in my heart shame because of while i had this i was living with my girlfriend who I had plans to marry soon. I got convicted on my past knowledge of adultery and stopped making excuses that I was not in it. And repented and left that woman amd went back with my wife!! I did not want to be with my wife and really wanted that other woman. But i sacrificed my flesh for GOD!!! I TOOK THAT LEAP OF FAITH AND LEFT HER AND MOVED BACK WITH MY WIFE AND KIDS! It was hard! I was debating that next month. One morning i woke up and sat on edge of bed. I just sat there. I dont know why. *BUT GOD WHISPERED TO ME* . GOD SPOKE TO ME IN A WHISPER. CLEAR AS DAY. Dont believe this lie. That whisper to me gave me what i needed and it SHOOK ME HARD. I HIT MY WIFE ON THE THIGH WHILE SHE WAS SLEEPING AND YELLED *"DID YOU JUST HEAR THAT?"* TO MY WIFE. I was startled!! To this day I Think OF THAT MOMENT AND IT GIVES ME STRENGTH!! YOU LIE. *YOU LIE* He does speak!! Many say he speaks to them and i think they think they hear him. Like long conversations. I did not ever hear it in that way, *"BUT HE WHISPERED TO ME THAT MORNING TO NOT GIVE UP"* . I WAS THINKING I WANTED TO GO BACK TO MY EX THAT PREVIOUS DAY. He spoke and I had my confirmation. Guess what? You guess what happened the next day. You will never guess. That next day was SUNDAY. I WENT TO CHURCH AND HAD A PASTOR I PRAYED FOR AND ASKED GOD IF HE WAS REALLY TRUE FROM HIM. AMD THAT MORNING HE WAS Prophesizing AND THE PASTOR WALKED UP TO ME AND MY FAMILY. HE SPOKE TO ME AND SAID THIS. . HE SAID THIS 👉. *"GOD IS PLEASED WITH YOU"* DO YOU HEAR THAT? I also had confirmation the next day about my choices and the path i was on. I heard his soft whisper as loud as it can be around me. When he whispered i looked up amd to the left and right. It was all around me. Not in my head as most claim. It was not like thinking you heard him!! *IT WAS HIS VOICE*
      YOU ARE BOTH LIARS!
GOD SPEAKS AND IF YOU DONT HEAR HIM YOU ARE IN SIN AND NOT CHOSE TO STOP! YOU REPENT ALWAYS BECAUSE YOUR ALWAYS SINNING AND NOT CHOSE TO TURN FOR GOOD. TURN AND REPENT! AND SIN NO MORE! HOLY SPIRIT IS WILLING.. *YOUR FLESH IS WEAK*
in a whisper God said..... *"Don't give up"*
And now 3 months later my family and I are stronger then ever in the word. Kids all pray daily 3 or more times a day!! Cut off the world tv. Study daily! We are in the world and not of it now!! We chose him above all! *ABOVE ALL* .
THATS HOW HEARING GODS WHISPER CHANGES YOU!
HE WILL SPEAK! WHEN YOU NEED IT THE MOST! FOR HIS GLORY!

Leah: You've got to put the whole bible into perspective as to who God spoke to and why. In the old testament God used his prophets as well as a chosen few in order to get the scripture written. Everything that God said became scripture. It's the same thing in the new testament. God spoke to us through Jesus as well as events that took place before his birth. Then Jesus left this world but scripture wasn't finished yet. Then came the apostles to finish everything concerning the scriptures. The holy spirit was given to testify of Jesus through the apostles. Rev 19:10 The spirit, or purpose of prophecy IS the testimony of Jesus. All prophecy is scripture and in the new testament, it was not about predicting the future. Prophecy means in the greek To speak in front of, meaning people. Women never prophesied in the old testament. What they called "prophetess" were women married to men who prophesied and the women merely spoke what their husbands already said. That's why quoting Joel in Acts 2 means... Your daughters will prophecy.. means they will only says what the scriptures said. All they had was the old testament when Pentecost took place. The Apostles were responsible for continuing with the scriptures and once God had finished giving his word by means of the apostles, then God stopped talking. He has limited himself to the totality of the bible. Under no circumstances or "experiences" does God speak aloud to anyone anymore. That is simply heresy. When someone claims it has happened to them, someone needs to challenge the source because it's NOT God. The holy spirit is only going to help those who really want everything that God said, to be revealed to them through scripture. If someone if France said that God spoke to them: what if it was something concerning salvation that isn't in the bible??? Don't you think everyone would need to know it? So how do we prove it? We CAN"T. Therefore God HAS to have an ending to the bible for all of us to refer back to and look it up to see what's right. Scripture must match with scripture. Claiming that God speaks audibly is a gross error against all the men that died to bring you that book. People can make all kinds of accusations of what they think the bible says, if they hold to the idea that God still speaks. There is nothing Finite and trustworthy about the bible unless God is done talking. There are many proofs that the bible is finished by Mark, and Paul and John; but the proof of that is to show us not to believe in false statements that do not match up with scripture. The bottom line is that the people who claim God speaks to them, are lying for their own purposes and do not follow what scripture says about itself. From those; turn away if they do not listen. They cause others to stumble and create an atmosphere of uncertainty.

If you are a follower of Jesus Christ the voice inside you will overcome the voice of the Devil. This takes time in prayer and reading the scriptures to drowned out the Devil. Things are about to change ... and I was praying and crying and worrying ... had been for days and the person I was praying and praying for came out of a coma rite after those words came to me ... it’s been about 18 years ago but i can’t describe how they came to me because the words were so clear in my mind it was like I could almost hear them and I had even stopped for a minute and though things are about to change ... ? I mean it was so clear and right after I heard it he woke up from a coma in ICU ... I’ll never forget it ... but I have had other times through the years ... few times that I could feel like God was speaking to my heart ... that’s what I say because I don’t actually hear a voice talking to me ....but I will have words come to me and I just felt like it may be God and it’s only happened a very very few times but it really gets my attention and the one I had more recently... this year used a word that I don’t really use ... just didn’t sound like something I would say ... but when I had those words come into my mind they were so clear to me I could almost hear them ... things are about to change ...and I love listening to Justin Peters ... he really makes good points and studies the scriptures... he has taught me things I never knew about the Bible ❤️ God bless everyone and the Bible is the Word of God and when you read it He does speak to you from the pages ❤️

How do we know what his Son is saying? Through his word! When the scriptures you quoted were written down, we did not have the Bible yet. I spent 32 years of my life pursuing music, and 18 years trying to go into fulltime ministry to no avail. Now I'm at the point where I'm like okay I'm 37 years old, no money in my checking account, no car, depressed, and not living my best life. After my first year of Bible school, my dad offered to get me a car, an apartment, and pay for my education upto a bachelor degree. But I didn't take him up on his offer because I "felt called" to go back to CFNI in Dallas, TX. Well I wound up moving back home after bible school, and going back to school, but my dad wasn't going to pay for any of the stuff he offered me just one year earlier. So I had to get government grants, then I studied something that the jobs were being off shored after I graduated. And I couldn't find work in that feild. Then churches took notice in how I played piano so then I took jobs earning $500.00 a month from evangelical churches for over a decade. Moved back to Dallas, TX 3 years ago. Got a church to pay me $500.00 a month and after 6 months they decided to go another direction. So yeah that is the story of my life. I don't want to be in ministry anymore. Truth is I don't know what I want to do. Found these CZcams videos last month. The Evangelical church has really messed me up.

I don't understand this at all. All through my Christian life, I have prayed for God's guidance and wisdom and for Him to "impress" upon my heart what to do. From marrying my husband, to becoming a nurse, changing jobs, going to a certain church, who to minister to, should I teach? On and on. I believe that the Holy Spirit has "spoken" to my heart in a way that I "know" what God's will has been. It has always been the right decision, and when I have not obeyed Him, I have paid the consequences. What's the point of praying for the "right" decisions or God's will if He doesn't guide and show the way? I don't believe in the prosperity gospel one bit, but I think you are making light and even mocking when you say people see things in clouds, or make a decision when you hear a song. Bro. Justin, I appreciate your ministry and your courage to speak out against false teachers. I have learned so much from you, but I think you are wrong on this subject. LOUD ALL AROUND ME VERY LOUD. BUT VERY SOFT!! I was trying to be sin free in my life a d was determined to be sin free, and God knew this! I knew if i got the Holy Spirit inside me that i would be able to SIN NO MORE. *YOU ARE A LIAR* AND GOD DOES WHISPER.... YOU LIE JUSTIN. I LIVED WATCHING YOU. BUT YOU AFE A LIAR. *GOD WHISPERED........."DON'T GIVE UP*....* NOT A THOUGHT IN MY HEAD! This was not a thought as those that say he spoke to me. He actually was out loud and lile surround sound... I read Isaiah 30:21 in KJV and from the preceding verse it sounds to me the voice that is heard are the teachers behind you! In other words, we should discern whether the teachers who say “this is the way, walk in it” are actually agreeing with the clear teaching of Gods word, and that is the very same thing this dear pastor is trying to teach here. We indeed should study the word, pray for Gods guidance, endeavoring to keep our walk right before God. And very often because of responsibilities I have as a wife, mother, career, etc, I simply find it necessary to “ do the next thing”! And seems like the clear teaching is that God’s blessings are with us as we “ do those next things”! God bless!

It seems to me from reading the Book of Acts that the Holy Spirit definitely does prompt people at times, but also as they say in the video in his letters Paul doesn't seem to be acting most of the time in a constant state of listening for God but says he wants to go to a certain place, and maybe God will make it possible for him to do so, whereas the preachers they are warning against are claiming to be constantly hearing from God about all kinds of things and telling them what to do all the time, which gives them a lot of power to mislead people. I think if you are praying and reading the word of God, and spending a lot of time in his presence, it's much harder to make wrong decisions - all my worst choices were made when I was going with what I wanted and not stopping to think if it was right. When there's no clear right or wrong decision it's very difficult though. I think we have to just do our best to go the right way and trust he is with us no matter what.

    • @GrahameGould
      @GrahameGould Před 3 lety

We don't hear a literal voice like that anymore. 2 Tim 3:16-17 makes it clear that scripture is all we need. especially look at the three absolutes in v17.
The Holy Spirit guides us and leads us into all truth and reminds us of what Jesus said. He will do that through the word. He will prompt us. It will not be an audible voice where we could write His words down.
And I don't think it was literal when Isaiah wrote it either meaning a literal voice that you will hear words but a a prompting that encourages us to trust God's word.

    • @GrahameGould

And Cathy makes an excellent point as well. The meaning of the Hebrew is debated. The word for "teacher" is plural but some think it is the plural of Majesty referring to God. But even if it is referring to the Holy Spirit, I still think my point stands that it is not a literal voice.

But very rarely God also spoke to me through this so called "whispering voice" and I can assure you that it was God speaking. Yes, I agree that most of the time when people say stuff like "God told me to..." or "I feel like God is..." it was not God talking. But I do not believe that it is never the case. Scripture verse pulled out of context to make a point that aligns with your belief.
If you read the whole context this line, and those before it, follows verse 5, “these twelve Jesus sent out, instructing them...”
He was telling these things specifically to His disciples whom He personally taught.
If you read the commentary for that verse it is agreed upon that this whole paragraph surrounding this verse is Jesus’ warnings to His 12 that they will be persecuted for preaching His words (the words that were told to them in the dark and whispered in their ear.)
We are not to put ourselves in the verse and think that this is for all people of all time and that God will whisper words to us in the dark.

Also, just because you aren't hearing God, that DOESNT mean that God isn't speaking -it means your spiritual ears need to be opened/tuned in! The Bible says that God is speaking one way than another. He SPOKE to me audibly and said that I needed to be saved and that my works didn't save me. Audibly. Yes. Audibly. I didn't know anything about Jesus Christ or being saved by faith yet He gave me truth audibly. He then sent me someone to share the gospel of Jesus Christ to me since I kept praying for Him to save me as he audibly told me I had to be. I read the Bible and I see this very clearly....The doctrines that the Lord gave to the church regarding salvation, faith, gifts, the Holy Spirit, has not and will not change. He doesn't change. And even though I am not a charismatic, I will noy deny my healing (body part that I was missing) nor my coming to faith as supernatural as it was and I will not deny what it is written that He can still heal, speak and direct us - always going back to scripture and testing all things. Be blessed.

At that time you will be given what to say, for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you." Matthew 10:19&20. Here we are 'given what to say' not enslaved! Audibility isn't the point. God does speak, and the Spirit of God was sent by Yeshua to guide us and teach us. The written word does NOT replace the Holy Spirit of God! Do NOT grieve the Holy Spirit! The Father will not forgive you for that!

I prayed over a lost item and the Lord spoke into my mind where the item was. So what was that?? Seems to me you are taking away that “personal” relationship. What’s important to me is important to God and he helps me. He leads me all the time.

Faith Wasson...agree..I do n have practiced this; when I lose something I ask God's Holy Spirit who resides within me to help me find it..I tell you, it works all the time! If one desires to Walk with God daily..the H. S. guides us! I think pastor Peters is almost to the extreme opposite end of the charismatic word of faith movement! My personal belief is that the H. S. does guide us by our hearts as well as by His Word! Nonetheless, I love and am blessed listening to pastor Peters!

@@darlenewells3309 I’m with you. I think God does speak to us sometimes through the Holy Spirit, but other times he just allows us to make the decisions on our own like Justin and Jim said. It doesn’t always have to be either end of the spectrum. I find that the answer often lies somewhere in the middle.

I love you and your ministry Justin, but this video has left me feeling sad, and bereft. I feel you are saying we cannot have a personal or intimate relationship with God, knowing him and seeing His hand of guidance in our lives and that we can only relate to him through the bible, which is generic for all his people, without any personal involvement with me as an individual. This frightens me as I feel left to my own devices, in which I lost confidence in years ago, I am lost. I have been walking daily trusting in God to guide me and direct me in my life basing my life on Proverbs 3:5,6,7 as my promise from God that he will be intimately involved in my life. I understand that the Word of God is the basis for moral decisions, but much of life doesn’t involve moral decisions and the bible doesn’t instruct us on these matters. After I was widowed, I would have felt lost and alone if I hadn’t leaned heavily on the Lord for detailed guidance for many life decisions which I believe he gave me in many and varied ways. Now you are making me doubt all of that and I am losing my comfort and security in the Lord that he actually cares for me individually and am just part of an amorphous body of people who just have to make the best of things all by themselves. Is this what you mean to say or have I missed something? Please help me.

I think you did right to lean on the Lord, and who's to say how God really speaks? I have heard so many testimonies and am convinced that God does, perhaps on occasion choose to speak to individuals in certain ways (that might sound radical and out there), yes the Bible is his word and we should 100% use it for guidance, inspiration, help etc but God isn't confined to just the scriptures (is He?), He is living and active--- only you know what you've been through, and I believe you are right, that God can guide us in many and varied ways--- who's to really know? I don't think there's much point doubting yourself just because someone else thinks differently; but I will say Justin has a point when he says (paraphrasing) it is good to do what seems right or appropriate, and not necessarily wait for some special message (that might not come). Prayers and peace to you.

If you say God speaks to you personally and you have a relationship with Him, isn't it better to ask Him this question? Would He not answer you and reassure you in your faith?

Frances, I also love the work Justin has done to promote Biblical Truth, but I was momentarily disheartened by the message in this video as well. Just like you, God ABSOLUTELY speaks to me! It is in those times that I experience Him the most. Like you, it is also difficult for me to understand how Christians can truly *experience* God without the close communication you and I experience with Him. The video left me questioning too, but I am not going to allow it to change what I KNOW to be true for myself. If someone could convince me that hearing from God beyond the Bible goes against Scripture even though that communication always lines up with His Word, that would be a completely different story. But God did have those intimate communicative experiences with His children in the Bible, and I don't know of any verse that goes against what you and I experience. After talking to friends who I know are saved and now hearing this video, I have come to the conclusion that either God only speaks to some of us or He speaks to all of His children and some don't hear Him for reasons that may or may not be through any fault of their own. I am also left to believe that the depth of a Christian's faith, their knowledge of God and the Bible, and their salvation seem to not matter when it comes to which Christians are hearing from God through the Bible and other Biblically-sound ways and which Christians are only hearing from Him through the Bible. I think that maybe some pastors and even Biblical teachers just fall into the group that doesn't hear from God, so they assume that He doesn't speak to Christians the way we know He speaks to us. If I heard or saw something that I thought was from God but it didn't line up with Scripture (and the hermeneutical rules of Scripture), I would know that was not God speaking to me. That has never been the case though! Everything He has shown me has lined up, and the circumstances and events that came with it were overwhelmingly and clearly from God. With respect to Justin and his guest, I am going to view this as well-meaning and move forward in the joy I have from the second greatest gift God has given me, the amazing communicative relationship I have with Him.

The Lord speaks to people in various ways, some hear him audibly and with all of us God speaks to us simply in His word when we read it. Some of us personally hear and some don't, for those of us that personally have not heard the lord this message brings encouragement and comfort. Let it not get us down, He love us all and doesn't have favourites, He just simply reaches us in many different ways🙏

@@leahjo2765 agree with you. The idea that God would speak to us all uniformly in the same way is ludicrous. I doubt that He spoke to every single human being in the bible days. We accept that God does as He wills and it may not be as we would like.

Cessationists believe that God still heals today. But they are not speaking of healing in this video.
Be careful of thinking every voice you hear and every thought you have is the Holy Spirit speaking. HE Himself said to TEST. How do we test? By God's Word, the Bible.

For me I feel closer to God now when I am just in my word or listening to sermons by some of my favorite reformed teachers, than I ever did when I was attending a church that was based on signs and operating in the gift of prophesy. Reading his word and listening to reformed teachings on the Word, really made my faith and my relationship with God stronger. I think the reason being is that I wasn't basing my faith on an "experience" or encounter in a church. My faith was based on the Word and Truth. My words don't do it justice, but yes, feel God when I am obedient to his Word, just simple obedience. My love for God is what drives me to obedience.

Be very careful about trusting feelings. They are deceptive and untrustworthy. We know Him through Jesus Christ - by grace through faith. Not feelings.
I know the presence of God because scripture tells me how to know the presence of God and I trust it. If I feel it, great, but even when I feel it, I'm not sure those feelings are trustworthy.
I John 1 would be a good place to look, for a start.
