  • The Pat's Rubber Leg is my go to nymph. It fishes great year round. I have tied thousands of these commercially and learned a few tricks along the way. I wanted to share these tricks and I hope you like them.
    Materials I used:
    Hook: Dai-riki 4x Long streamer
    Thread: Danville 70 Denier Flymaster Plus
    Lead: .020 lead wire
    Legs/Tail/Antennae: Brown Flex Floss (Spirit River Medium)
    Body: Black/Coffee Variegated chenille Medium

    Great video. This is the easiest way to tie in the legs on a Pat's that I have seen yet. Very well done!

    Very nicely done. After tying a bunch using Lance Egan's version, I'm going to use this to tie some more. I especially liked how you handled the legs... nice and simple.

      Awesome, if you're fishing for browns try a purple body with brown legs. Doesn't work everywhere, but the places where it does it slays.

    Thanks, nice clear & concise tutorial. I've "winged it" with these and they're OK, but I'm glad I watched this -- they'll be better now.

    Nice, I hate tying these because of the legs! Never seen them tied to that way before. Great way I'm getting some of them tied up today.

      Yeah, I was asked to tie over 100 dozen of these a few years ago. I learned one leg at a time as well and it was taking so long I was regretting taking the job. Then I tried them all together to save time, and I like how it looks even better as well. I hope to change your mind on this fly because it's a great one!

    These work well on Bass and Bluegill as well. I fished them yesterday in a pond and was amazed at how well they did....But maybe I just got lucky :-)

      I'm glad to hear it! I tied flies for a guy in Texas and he used rubber legs for bass with good results as well so I totally it. Thanks for the info!

      Lorenzo Swanson Thank you Lorenzo, I love this fly too. The hook is a Dai-Riki 4xl steamer hook (#700). On most of my videos I put a list in the description of what I used in the video which should help if you have any more questions about materials, but feel free to ask anything, I'll do my best to help out. Tight lines!

    hey Skyler I noticed you didn't put in the light tan under belly. Don't you use it anymore?

    • @skylerhardman1227
      @skylerhardman1227  Před 4 lety +1

      Yes I still do. In this video I'm demonstrating the traditional rubber leg. I'm planning on releasing an updated video with the tan belly to replace my old video. As you can probably tell, the video quality changed quite a bit between the two. My old video is still available for now though.
