What do you reckon? Do you like the design of the GS65, and does a high refresh rate (e.g. 144hz) make a big difference to your buying decision? 🤔
you can get a 7th gen gt83 titan sli with dual 1070's for the price of this thing.
The Tech Chap reminds me of the Razer's 15' gaming laptop (2018.vers)
Make asus rog strix scar II review
I really like this design with less bazzel and 144hz what a power laptop
If its 144hz with 3ms or 5ms or 7ms?
You know you're being ripped off when the prices are the same in pounds and dollars
Like Lenovo once said,
"Stylish on the outside, savage on the inside."
I love this design. It's actually grown up instead of the older childish designs. This is a laptop I could buy and not be embarrassed to be seen with.
I'd like to see you go a little more into the cooling aspects of the laptop in future reviews :) With it being so thin it does strike me as a bit of a concern even with a 1060!
Black and Gold is definitely a cleaner look
I love the review and the reviewer 😍
I like the look on this one. It's sort of the sweet spot of "gamery" and sleek look.
Torjus HT exactly, as i get older, i tend to avoid the laptops that scream "im a gamer"
@@omarzaifulizan3064 hard agree. LEDs are a joke
You covered all points including the doubts I had regarding MSI GS65. A gem of a 'laptop review'. Enjoyed it. 😊👍👌 None of the reviewers actually go in this much detail.
Really fair and thorough review! You really know your stuff and are great at showing how the laptop really is in video. Happy to subscribe.
I'm definitely liking the Black and Gold aesthetic. I'm actually looking to buy a new gaming laptop (that will also be used for pretty much the full Adobe suite of products for my work), and this review felt very informational and has me heavily considering this laptop. The fact that it's so light and compact but still powerful is a huge plus for me. Also that refresh rate and sRGB (finally closer to screen accurate colours) gamut sounds really nice for my artistic work.
awesome review what do you think about this laptop for normal everyday use?
Thank you for the review. Was actually searching on it for video editing, but got more curious about what camera you're using
I'm tempted between this MSI and the new Razer Blade 15. I'd even include the MS Surface Book 2 but that's more of a general do all device for me.
Keep up the great work.
Nice video dude, i love this review :3
great video bro !!
nice review..thanks...😀
Hi, Great Review. I am considering buying this one. But discouraged by the reviews of MSI's customer service. What are your thoughts about this.
just got this with 1070Q 32gb 1TB SSD to use as my travel game development machine. So far loving it.
Would you recommend this over Razer Blade 15? Would love to hear a feedback!
Hi Chap, recent fan here.
Any plans on reviewing the new MSI PS42?
Keep the good work!
Cheers
It looks great, I loved the black and gold aesthetic and the overall shape. The bezels are nice and small, the i/o is great, and very competitively priced. The one thing that prevented me from buying it...it feels like its built like a toy. While closed, you can lift the corners of the screen up almost 2 inches before it starts to open. The screen flex on this thing is crazy, and with their hinge designs in the past have been known to be a little less sturdy than others. The chassis also felt just...cheap. Sturdy build is a pretty high priority for me, so I ended up not getting the Stealth. But everything else about it seemed pretty great, I just move around a lot and take my laptop with me almost everywhere.
So what laptop did you got?
Great Video. 👍 Is it also good editing like photo or video? :)
Hey, thanks for the test. Actualy, I have the GS65 currently at home to figure out if it works for me. All what you mentioned is correct, so it's a perfect review. I would say that the GS65 is a very nice laptop which looks pretty good and you are able to play a game with it. But a Gaming Laptop???
awesome review...pls make a review on acer predator helios 500 i7 8th gen
I love ur background wallpaper color. What type of colout is that?
Just bought this 12-9-18 at BB for $1,850.00 with 16gb ram and a 512gb SSD... this laptop is a gamers dream come true! Also good for everything else and anything you can throw at it! Runs my cad programs with ease! I just love this laptop!!!!
How is battery life when surfing the internet and CZcams?
New office tour please!
Could you please add a video where you have the ports in use? Like power, HDMI and Ethernet? It looks like ergonomic disaster, but only when looking at pics.
there should be balance of storage , gpu , cooling capacity and design , i think its looking like an old school when this thing kept open..
Thanks for thorough temperature tests :/
I picked one of these up open-box on eBay a few weeks ago. Stock thermals are mediocre, but can be improved significantly through re-pasting and undervolting the CPU, as well as disabling Intel TurboBoost in order to better stabilize temperatures. Thermal problems out of the way, it's a nice laptop. You might also want to upgrade the storage at some point, because 256 GB (or even 512) won't get you much mileage in today's gaming landscape, unless you only play a handful of games. Also, if battery life is important to you, this one's currently one of the best out there among the thin-and-lights. It's ~80 wH, so if you take proper power-consumption precautions you can get about 5-6 hours of general web-browsing/productivity use out of a single charge.
Dude! Tech Chap does it has the slot for a normal Hard Drive or only it has the SSD?
I like that it has a mini-DisplayPort out so G-Sync should work on a compatible external monitor. Other laptops in this size/price class don't offer this.
Hey!
Nice review! I was thinking in buying one of this gs65 myself, but I just noticed the arrival of the p65, and now I'm a little divided in what should I buy... Any advice?
Btw, I'm a designer and only play games in the spare time
OrangeTree what did you end up getting? I'm at this exact same point right now
+The Tech Chap just watched your old gsync/freesync video (colab with pc centric) and i got a question! I got a fairly new amd system and a good 144hz freesync monitor.. the only thing that needs to be exchanged is the graphics card. I would spend the money and get a 1080ti cuz it dominates all the other graphics cards in that prizerange, but I'm a bit worried that i lose freesync. Since my current graphics card only delivers like 60-90 fps on low graphics in most games wouldnt the 1080ti deliver a smoother experience anyway (with way more fps)? Also you can cap fps in most games so if i set it to 144 (matching the monitor) a 1080ti should deliver them anyway which would make freesync/gsync irrelevant right?
any plans to review the 2019 verison? preferably the 1660Ti , i7-9750 one ?
I'm looking for a 13 inch laptop under £500. What do you recommend?
Will this play wow?
I bought one with the 1070 I really really love it! Best laptop I have ever used. It's super sleek and premium looking and feeling, performs crazy good and has pretty darn good battery life for non gaming sessions.
How is the panel and viewing angles? How about the brightness ? - Not too dim being only 250 nits approx? Do you find it get more hot and loud noise from the fans under heavy load?
How about the build quality and hinges? Any issues there?
Ahhh. Amazing.
Is this good for video editing?
what will you guys get when you guys can choose between razer blade 15 or gs65 ?🧐
Not sure if anyone asked this, but will this laptop work if you remove the battery and leave it plugged in?
I love the colour combination of the black and gold. Look premium like the Lamborghini colour.
I always dislike overall MSI's laptop design, I don't usually bother checking what this brand has to offer... until THIS LAPTOP CAME OUT
it looks so dayum gorgeous!
I switched my initial preference wishlist from Zephyrus S GX531 to this laptop.
So smooth :O
buttttttttery!
I bought mine with the 1070 nvidia card and I love it. I typically get 5 hours of battery life while editing videos and doing other tasks. If you plan on playing graphic intense games for long periods of time I would recommend buying from a third party vendor with the liquid metal upgrade and 32gbs ddr4. I've yet to have issues while gaming with the fans on max settings. Auto fan setting will allow it to get to hot and will cause thermal throttling. Just for clarity mine is stock and no heat issues but the games I play dont have the best graphics when compared with games like far cry5. I plan on purchasing farcry5 and testing it out though!
did you use a 3rd party vendor for your purchase? If so, could you link them/the page for this laptop? Just interested in what deals they may have. Also, what is the liquid metal upgrade?
thx !!
The only real complain I have regarding this laptop is regarding hw upgraded. Componens are between the Motherboard and keyboard instead of just been at the bottom of the chassis.
I was thinking to get this or the msi prestige 14, any thought on that? I’m a student, game and light photo editing as well. I want it to be light
Will you be reviewing the Razer Blade 15?
Any problems regarding durability??
Which one is prefect for games msi gs65 thin with 1070 Max q or hp omen 15 with 2060 Rtx ?!
Which one is better? Msi gs65/rog stix 2/hp omen 15 ?
The 1060 version of this is the same with the Acer Predator Helios 300 2018. Isnt this a bit overpriced?
I have the 1070 model and love it. Add in a 970 EVO drive, repaste with liquid metal, tune the fans and undervolt and you have a beast of a laptop.
Was it difficult to take it apart to put the liquid metal on?
What a beautiful blue eyes
Is $1707 after accidental damage plan worth it for with laptop?
Please can you do a room/office tour?
Does it not have a hard drive ? Only a 250 ssd ? Please help i want to get one but i am not sure if there is enough storage
Is that Ok for 3d, after effects and game, how is the screen for design? Thanks
Best for me for travelling and play
So good 😍😍😍
Isn't it more like 250 nits? Would it be too dim?
I just subscribed you
Can you do acer predator helios 300 (2018) review
should one replace it with razer blade 14 2017
gtx 1060 i7 7th gen 16gig ram 512 ssd
Will VR work on this? Or will it clash with optimus?
yeah, high refresh rate is buttery smooth but will you pay me to buy dual titans so I can actually run latest games at 144 FPS?
I can deal with the lack of an SD card slot, but I wish I could customize the storage and ram of this thing without having to worry about possibly damaging it.
Can i use it also good for 3d Rendering ? So Just for the university
How is this in 2022 for light 4k video editing?
Show power brick and it's weight.
How about the battery?
Lindo tu pieza y escritorio de pc gaming 👌😊
Would you recommend this in 2020? Cause the price has dropped quite a bit and I cant seem to find anything that can compete with it for the price
I found one used for 750
@@cristianpangolo6506 It's cool I picked up the Eluktronics Max 17 about a month after I posted this, thanks though
I love the black and gold color scheme. Hate the price. Kinda hard to be an architecture student when the only laptops good enough for me to use are only affordable once I actually have a job as an architect.
Can you please do a new acer predator helios 300 with the 144hz review?
I hope msi will upgrade 7ms to 5ms or 3ms and put gsync tu and it will be perfect i think
Is this better than the Aero 15x ?
Does it throttle excessively?
Hey can you do the mi gaming laptop It will be 👍 thumbs up for the awesome videos you made
dell xps15 or msi 65 for video editing with same specs..?? Thanks..
Watching this while being stressed out of my MSI GS70 2QE. Everything is now broken which started with damn hinges. I hate it
Hi, Tech Chap, I am considering either purchasing this, the Razer Blade 15 or the Asus Rog Zephyrs M 1070. Is there any advantages this has over the Razer Blade or Zephyrus M. Or that the other two have over the gs65 Thank you.
I would look online at the various QC issues customers are having with Razer laptops. The Asus is meant to be very nice but very poor battery life as the batt is small, may be sn issue for you, the MSI has quite few complaints of build quality.
I just ordered the new HP Omen 15 with 1070, not quite as thin as the ones you like but similar specs although it does look a little more gamer. But it is fair bit cheaper so might be worth a look.
Nice laptop
i loved it
Do you still have it?
This the macbook pro replacement I love this laptop
Watching the screen bounce while you type worries me, however this model gets really good reviews
can it be charged using a usb c charger?
Make a comparison between aero 15 and this one.....
DREAM LAPTOP
What is the name of the mouse you used in the video?
I still love the GS63vr and it has thunderbolt 3
Don't hate on the TN Panel. The new GE63 8RF is the most color accurate screen to date for a laptop.
Hi Tim, hi to all.
If you could help out with an advice on whether to go for Razer Blade 15 or MSI GS65 ?? I am considering getting a thin laptop to use for everyday work/meeting, but powerful to play some games (mostly CS:GO, Rainbow 6 and CoD). So, is the GTX 1060 Max-Q enough in this case to make use of the 144 Hz FHD panel with high fps? Thanks a lot :))
Hello. I've actually really struggled with your same problem, and have settled with the MSI GS65. After looking and gaming for about 4 hrs on each I can safely say that it's really up to you. The Razer Blade has a better build quality and looks astounding, but their customer service is a bit poor quality and the laptop, when used for heavy gaming, can boil water. The MSI has slightly better performance (in my opinion), and has better thermals. However, the MSI has a sketchy build quality, and it can bend easily if you try and bend it, but if you take care of your electronics it will last you a long time. I'd go with the MSI, but if you prefer cooking hotdogs while you game, I don't blame you.
Also you're paying a good amount for the Razer brand name when you buy the Blade 15
You can now get the RTX 2060 for $1600 on amazon. that's way cheaper than what you are mentioning here. price went down fast in a year.
beautiful laptop, just wish it was glossy screen and had an sd card reader
I want to see how the power adapter big?
