I rented an economy car for a business trip that involved driving across a mountain passage in the wintertime. That car was a GEO Metro from the mid 1990s. It did well. It was maybe a little slow going up the steep inclines. I had to hurry on my return trip to beat a major snowstorm and worsening road conditions. Aside from the scary situation, I enjoyed driving this little car.
Awesome video! Someday I wanna buy an old Geo metro, one that needs a little reviving, and then take it cross country from coast to coast. And see if it’ll do it! Beauty of those engines is there so easy to work on I hear. So if anything does go wrong, hopefully it’s an easy fix!
😎😎😎 I have a 89 Geo Metro XFI , Its rated at 49 HP But it's rated Mpg is 58 city and 53 city .. I've gotten 55 MPG .. BUT ! It now has working side pipes, wide tires, mags small wing,sun roof, and 4 barrel carb with blower scoop sticking through the hood... looks like it would run 10s. But its stock, and fun to drive , and gets a lot of attention.. had it for over 20 years and still wouldn't sell it for anything. 😎
When they were new, Metros were suppose to put out 52 HP. Your Metro must have a lot of miles. I have a '92 that I modified the motor to get better MPG, I've gotten up to 70.5 MPG (freeway average) out of it.

That time I got 70.5 I was hypermiling it, so I removed the passenger seat and right rear view mirror and the windshield wipers, also made rear Fender Skirts from card board. Daily driving I'm getting around 56 MPG freeway.
I had a 1996 Metro LSI that I put on the dump. It put down a whooping 34 hp!! It had a burned exhaust valve on cylinder 3 from a clogged EGR passage so it was only running on 2 cylinders at the time!
I’d LOVE to buy another low mileage Metro. I’ve owned 2 so far. My first one was a 94 ( I bought it in November of 93) and in 2 years I put 210K miles on it. It was more reliable than my 90 Honda
Plz Plz put an electric turbo on this wired to a switch under the gas pedal that also spoofs the coolant temp sensor. It's probably the only engine small enough to benefit from this mod.

You could literally pic the engine up with you arms and plop it on the coffee table to work on it well watching TV super easy to work on

Not bad at all for a 3cyl ! Stock they had 52 hp new 58 torque. My 95 Suzuki Swift HB 4cyl 1.3 sohc 5pd ABS produces 70 hp & 74 torque.
that big ass smile on your when it rolled on ... lol...
id really love to see some one actually take a stock 3cyl and see how much turbo you can throw at it till it explodes

it is a performance vehicle the performance is gas mileage
If a had a geo metro, i would push it to the limit by going all the way up to red line to get the highest rpm possible and the highest hp.
