Kevin is an all around amazing individual! He plays multiple instruments, beat boxes, composes, speaks fluent Mandarin, and graduated pre-Med from Yale. I’d say he’s genius level! His laugh is everything!
Kevin is a musical genius. He is, by far, my favorite PTX member.
I love about halfway through this video where you can see that Kevin is really feeling this, like he knows he is going to nail this.

Kevin was the last piece to fall in place when Scott Hoying decided to form PTX for the TV show 'The Sing Off'. But, he is arguably the most musically talented of the group having already been featured as a performer on both saxophone and cello at Carnegie Hall. His viral video of him beatboxing simultaneously while playing cello, or "celloboxing", is what sealed the deal. To the uninitiated listener, it might seem that he is solely a background player. To my mind his part is the most critical as it is the base on which the entire sound is built. Add to that, his contributions , along with Ben Bram, to the arranging which is responsible for creating the "Pentatonix sound". If you delve further into his catalog of solo work you will definitely be impressed as well as entertained.

As if you needed more proof of Kevin's abilities before the age of 20 he played twice at Carnegie Hall- once on the cello and once on the saxophone which he is also extremely accomplished at. In addition to his musical abilities he is mentally brilliant also having been accepted at four ivy league schools and completed a medical degree at Yale before joining Pentatonix.
And he speaks fluent Mandarin (Chinese)
Kevin is an underrated genius.
I thought he was like 17 for the sax at Carnegie Hall.
Kevins surname Olusola - Oh Loo Sh la.... and the vid was real time - his arrangements seem almost spontaneous.. You should check out his insta/tiktok channels...he literally just makes things up on the spot....lately he's been putting a short track down and asking people to play with him/add to it and put a link to it so he can watch them.... very talented guy and such a humble soul. We're pretty sure there's little aliens inside his head that just spew out content all day long.... it must be mighty busy in there... 😉

I went down his TikTok rabbit hole and it was GREAT!
I don't single out one member of this group and Proclaim that they are the most musically talented member. They all have different skill sets that other members don't share and when they bring them together as a whole it creates an amazing piece of music. But it's also a fact that solo work by the members has not been popular even with fans in spite of what they may say they think regarding somebody "being more talented than everybody else". When they release a solo CD sales don't blow up and neither do views for their videos. It's always shocking to me, but that's the way it always goes. Still, Kevin is a genius in more than one way and he has a great understanding of how to use technology with his instrumental music skills and his beatboxing. He decided to learn how to sing after joining the group as he was the only one that had no experience singing. I'm very glad he did because it adds a lot to their numbers now that they're able do 5 part harmonies! I am always beyond impressed with Kevin and he has the sweetest heart and personality and would probably love to "geek out" with you if you contacted him on a professional level!
I wish their solo work received a warmer reception, but the view count alone shows that not even a fraction of the PTX fan base drops in for a listen. 🤷🏼♀️

He has several solo pieces that you should check out. "Sign of the Times" was similar in production to this one. He also has some where he lets his cello (Beyonce) do the singing. He is an extremely talented Cellist. Check out "Stay with Me" and "All of me". In "All of me" he also perfects cloning technology.

Found you because I follow PTX and Kevin O (because of this video). Is this mind blowing or what?!! Kevin is a beast playing that cello, and that voice is so rich, like butter!! I love your reaction!! I assume y’all like PTX (and maybe other A Capella groups), check out Home Free. They’re an all male, 5 member group that won the following season after PTX. They are Country, but more Contemporary Country. Anyway, they are another amazing group. Check out their cover of “Man of Constant Sorrow” (from the movie “O, Brother, Where Art Thou”). Their beatboxer is a 2-time world champ. The vocals and harmonies these guys put out are off the charts. Anyway, I really enjoyed your reaction!!
