Be careful what sources we should learn from. English is a main spoken language in our community in Sydney Australia. Pronunciation is the most important learning English. Mispronunciation is a huge affect in every communication. Kevin n Lisa channel is the best channel for ESL in my opinion. Thank you for your best efforts to improve the quality of education.

Finally!! Someone who really speaks English made a video about this “Marina-speak American my way-Mogilko”. Me myself not a native speaker but it’s okay, I’m not pretending being a native speaker and don’t tell anyone how to speak English. But those few times I have watched her videos… Dude how you can teach people to speak “American way” if you don’t speak “American way”. She has such a thick accent which is okay IF YOU DONT TEACH PEOPLE TO SPEAK WITHOUT AN ACCENT 😂😂😂 And her vocabulary videos, phrases and many more just not usable. Thank God for you guys! I'm a English Teacher and she's been getting on my nerves with all these errors and complacent manner and attitude with which she provides her material. I'd watched one or two of her vocabulary videos one or two years ago without noticing any errors. I supposed she would take more time to prepare her videos more meticulously back then. It was only recently that I checked some of her recent videos bumping into your videos. You can even notice how uncertain her train of thought is while providing definitive pronunciation explanations. It's a pity and a shame and Hadar, who I actually used to respect, was too quick to go the extra mile and out of her way to vehemently defend Marina. Kudos to both of you for your humility and the hard you've actually put into your videos.
I feel exactly the same about both Marina and Hadar. And while Marina is no loss as I never ever could stand her, things are different with Hadar, whom I used to like alot .

If you go to Hadar's video, in the comments you can see "Marina doesn't even have the education to teach others", to which Hadar replied: "hello, this is CZcams". These simple phrases make such a big difference, we all understand, we are told right in the eyes "hello, you know what you are taking and you deserve it". Thank you for helping us - CZcams students - to learn the right things. I am very glad that there are such qualified teachers like you.
But what Hadar said is true, my friend. CZcams as a platform has democratized the creation and distribution of content. I had a friend of mine who was not a music teacher but a very good musician, now he has a CZcams channel to teach music with millions of followers and a very good reputation. No one is worrying if he had or not a certification that shows he can teach music or not :)

Her (Marina’s) only intention is to earn money. She knows, she has to check her information before posting, but her only interest is to earn money. She is always presenting herself as the victim, but instead of working on her content, she always says, she is a non native speaker so that she is allowed to make mistakes, but she is presenting herself as an English teacher, she should be ashamed of herself for not wanting to improve her work. Exactly! The most popular scientific CZcamsr Derek Muller from Veritasium actually did a PhD thesis where he showed that the best way to learn a concept is by breaking down all the misconceptions around it. Same applies to learning a language. Great content!
There are plenty of frauds not only Mogilko! Even native speakers will collaborate with frauds for the sake of money! Very few actually care about quality of education they are selling to people!

The fast d sounds like the soft r in spanish words like "cara", "oro", etc. The stop t sounds like a spanish speaker normally pronouncing a t at the end of a word (without air flow).
It's funny that the way Marina pronounces the "t" in her videos is actually correct and she does it in the American way, but still she managed to teach it wrong. Most likely because she googled some lessons where the British pronunciation was used instead. Brits love to use the glottal stop everywhere (which is not the same sound as the stop T in this video), but British accents are also much less standardized.
Because she didn't know the correct terminology for it. She thinks that certain sounds are totally omitted, when they are not. And she doesn't know what a glottal sounds are like (t, k, p). She needs to actually learn the theory herself. Her speaking is good, apart from missing out articles here and there and sometimes she translates Russian expressions straight into English.
Yeah, it's like she didn't realize she was actually pronouncing the T, but then she simply said the T is silent, which isn't true. It's also funny that your profile pic is the letter T lol
Actually Marina just created her own English language. So her English is really way different compared with real English. No doubt Kevin n Lisa picked up a lot of ridiculous mistakes from her videos.

When you learn a foreign language there can be sounds to which your ear is insensitive/deaf, so that's simply how she hears it. You just have to learn it from other people cause they speak it when you don't. Even with your first language

That's the problem. Many beginners can't tell a native speaker and a non-native speaker apart. In continental Europe 90% of people can't spot my accent.

The concept of 'stop T' was presented by my teachers as 'loss of plosion', which is fairly ok in broader perspective. Over 15 years back, it was hard to find authetic phonetic material to go by. On top of that, they had a wild mixture of RP and American to feed us. Here I am now, speaking the purest Siberian English.

As a self-study learner and fresh ESL teacher, sometimes I feel inferior and out of my league when I watch your videos. It's like no matter how understandable and crystal clear I might sound in English or how many engaging conversations I have with people, there is a tiny voice of yours rattling me in the back of my head that I forgot to pronounce "t" or that I shouldn't be a model for teaching students pronunciation. Maybe, you are living rent-free in my mind :)). At the same time, it reminds me that as a teacher or a learner, there is still so much to discover in a wide range of aspects of English no matter how fluent I might sound to someone. Now I understand that the notion of being a perfect role model for students at all times puts so much weight on teachers' shoulders. On a side note, feel free to correct my comment if you find any errors or something that isn't native-like in English :)

Thnx a bunch for this enlightening video. I'm not a professional speaker. However, I do try my best to move with my English to the next level. I follow the shadowing technique more than any phonetic rules and that's how I figured out that ( T) has different pronunciations ; it is fast (d) before vowels like in (I bought it) and it is stop( t ) before consonants like in ( I bought that ). It is elided when speaking fast before consonants like in ( fast food ) , we also elide it after ( n) and before the vowel like in ( I went in ) or ( internet) . Last but not least , it is commonly pronounced glottal ( t) in British English like in ( better). Please correct me if I'm wrong . PS I'm a super fan of your invaluable videos; they are a great help to me and to all learners who can't travel overseas to learn the American English perfectly. You are an epitome of dedication. I just wanna add that my first problem in learning the language was that I was seeking perfection but now I'm seeking connection not perfection and that's why I'm not afraid of my mistakes anymore.

Just put yourself in her shoes,; would you like if if there's actually someone out there who specifically make videos in order to correct her ' and mock her sometimes without a reason "'! I know she makes loads of mistakes but u guys are pickin on every single mistake she does even if she corrected it in another video,; regardless of her being a non native ; it 's very obvious that their main goal is to humiliate her which is kinda sick
The fast d sounds like the soft r in spanish words like "cara", "oro", etc.
The stop t sounds like a spanish speaker normally pronouncing a t at the end of a word (without air flow).
It's funny that the way Marina pronounces the "t" in her videos is actually correct and she does it in the American way, but still she managed to teach it wrong. Most likely because she googled some lessons where the British pronunciation was used instead. Brits love to use the glottal stop everywhere (which is not the same sound as the stop T in this video), but British accents are also much less standardized.
Because she didn't know the correct terminology for it. She thinks that certain sounds are totally omitted, when they are not. And she doesn't know what a glottal sounds are like (t, k, p). She needs to actually learn the theory herself. Her speaking is good, apart from missing out articles here and there and sometimes she translates Russian expressions straight into English.
Yeah, it's like she didn't realize she was actually pronouncing the T, but then she simply said the T is silent, which isn't true.

Actually Marina just created her own English language. So her English is really way different compared with real English. No doubt Kevin n Lisa picked up a lot of ridiculous mistakes from her videos.

When you learn a foreign language there can be sounds to which your ear is insensitive/deaf, so that's simply how she hears it. You just have to learn it from other people cause they speak it when you don't. Even with your first language

Agreed. What marina says by “dont pronounce the t” is true by the way some other languages dont pronounce the t. Thats just how some languages perceive the pronunciation.

The concept of 'stop T' was presented by my teachers as 'loss of plosion', which is fairly ok in broader perspective. Over 15 years back, it was hard to find authetic phonetic material to go by. On top of that, they had a wild mixture of RP and American to feed us. Here I am now, speaking the purest Siberian English.

As a self-study learner and fresh ESL teacher, sometimes I feel inferior and out of my league when I watch your videos. It's like no matter how understandable and crystal clear I might sound in English or how many engaging conversations I have with people, there is a tiny voice of yours rattling me in the back of my head that I forgot to pronounce "t" or that I shouldn't be a model for teaching students pronunciation. Maybe, you are living rent-free in my mind :)). At the same time, it reminds me that as a teacher or a learner, there is still so much to discover in a wide range of aspects of English no matter how fluent I might sound to someone. Now I understand that the notion of being a perfect role model for students at all times puts so much weight on teachers' shoulders. On a side note, feel free to correct my comment if you find any errors or something that isn't native-like in English :)

@@kosak46 la pronunciación de ella es excelente para ser extranjera, me da coraje en parte que la quieran hacer menos, obvio que ha cometido errores, pero para no ser nativa del inglés su pronunciación es buenísima, poca gente logra cambiar su acento a tal grado, nada más ve a Salma Hayek o Sofia Vergara que nunca han podido entrenar a sus oídos o lengua para sonar más nativas del inglés, digo, es decisión personal, pero para lo que Marina hace, su pronunciación es muy buena, obvio yo personalmente para cuestiones de pronunciación me inclino aprender de nativos del inglés, pero los no nativos te dan tips mejores para aprender el idioma que lo que te daría un gringo por ejemplo.
La cosa es que se atreva a “enseñar “ inglés cuando nisiquiera es su idioma natal,alguien puede aprenderlo bien,pero es otra cosa enseñarlo

Thnx a bunch for this enlightening video. I'm not a professional speaker. However, I do try my best to move with my English to the next level. I follow the shadowing technique more than any phonetic rules and that's how I figured out that ( T) has different pronunciations ; it is fast (d) before vowels like in (I bought it) and it is stop( t ) before consonants like in ( I bought that ).
It is elided when speaking fast before consonants like in ( fast food ) , we also elide it after ( n) and before the vowel like in ( I went in ) or ( internet) . Last but not least , it is commonly pronounced glottal ( t) in British English like in ( better).
Please correct me if I'm wrong .
PS I'm a super fan of your invaluable videos; they are a great help to me and to all learners who can't travel overseas to learn the American English perfectly. You are an epitome of dedication.
I just wanna add that my first problem in learning the language was that I was seeking perfection but now I'm seeking connection not perfection and that's why I'm not afraid of my mistakes anymore.
