    You're asking a bunch of car enthusiasts what you should do with a 500+ hp Corvette Z06? Seriously, what did you expect us to say? KEEP IT!! Especially with its questionable past and horrible paint, this Vette is perfect to have fun, rev that 427 until it begs for mercy, and drift the hell out of those tires. As for the 240SX? Sayonara!!

    In October I bought a R Titled 1997 Toyota Celica GT convertible from an out of state seller. The owner died so it was part of an estate sale. Paid $1200. Like this car it suffered front end damage, way back in 2004. After buying I did a few things-replaced the struts and mounts, replaced the seized parking brake cables, installed a new battery and plugs, did the usual fluid changes and carried out a bit of body work. With it being an R title from another state it also required a $150 'enhanced inspection' from my home state, alongside the regular state inspection, passed both, zero issues. Did all the work myself, parts probably cost $1200 so the car owes me around $2500. Even though it's an R Title I'm sure I could get more than what I've put into it if I did decide to sell, but plan to keep it for now, it looks pretty good, in fact the last owner had just put on a brand new top, and it runs and shifts impeccably despite it having 230,000 miles.

    A manual transmission, "A whole different experience." Absolutely correct. If I wanted to just point a car and steer then a new C8, with an automatic, is fine. But, if I really want to DRIVE the car, give me a manual every time. Yes, I am cognizant the new automatic trans can shift faster than I can and have faster quarter mile runs, but that's not what I'm into. I want to experience the car, especially now that it won't be that many years before cars drive themselves. Last time offered the Corvette with a manual transmission was the option selected by almost a quarter of the buyers. And, how better to delineate themselves from all the other supercars than to offer a manual. Come on Chevy, wake up!!

    I'd probably sell it in the spring, especially with used car prices in the current market. If you can get $33k for a C6 Z06 with a rebuilt title then you should immediately go out and purchase a lottery ticket because it has to be your lucky day.
    There's just too many red flags with that car for me to believe that it hasn't lived a hard life and been abused.
    I'll venture a guess and say that in your next video you'll disclose that the car has an aftermarket catback exhaust, X-pipe, header's and no catalytic converters along with an aftermarket intake and possibly coil packs. I'd also say that it probably has an aftermarket dyno tune of questionable origin.

    • @TurboV8boi
      @TurboV8boi Před 2 lety +1

      I mean, full exhaust would be good to have. I'd hope the coils weren't changed out though. But yeah that car is rough, not necessarily a bad thing depending on what he wants out of the car.

      Not everyone wants a bone stock corvette yeah the 65 year old guy who takes it out on the weekend wants that but some people buy these cars for the power and potential of what it could be there’s a ton of people who wouldn’t care about the history or the title because they’re going to beat on it hard as well so who cares what the other owners did they’re planning on doing worst out of the gate this car is hitting 11 second passes in a 1/4 mile your not getting that for 30k as long as the car is in decent shape and it all works well it’ll be fine

    • @redherring395
      @redherring395 Před 2 lety +1

      @@romeothompson9389 from my experience no one wants to purchase a used vehicle (particularly an overpriced one) that has been wrecked beaten on its entire life only to have to live with the previous owners questionable modifications and repairs (which will probably cause you to be working on it as much as you drive it).
      I've owned sports cars that were wrecked and then repaired and they're never the same after the accident, especially after hitting something like a utility pole and being deemed a total loss. Most local, Mom & Pop body shops aren't going to be able to properly repair a modern day Corvette after it has had significant damage (especially frame damage) regardless of what people on CZcams tell you. These cars are not designed and put together like the family station wagon.
      As far as aftermarket modifications, most serious Corvette buyers don't want to buy someone else's mistakes and have to live with or undo someone else's poor choices in modifications. Most people don't want a car with an obnoxious exhaust note and interior drone from that exhaust on a car that they drive on the street on a regular basis. They also don't want a car (particularly a $33K car) that the check engine light tends to come on every time they open up the throttle or the pushbutton start only works occasionally.
      Addressing the performance of the car, the average person does not have the ability to get anywhere near all of the performance potential out of that car and I seriously doubt that that car would run an 11 second quarter mile pass the way it currently sits. At a minimum you would have to put between $900-$1000 (in all reality probably a great deal more) in that car to even hope of getting a decent quarter mile time and that would depend highly on driver skill.

      @@redherring395 everything you said was definitely true the only thing your not accounting for is there will always be the guy who wants to have champagne on a beer budget a real clean mint C6Z will run you about around 40k to 45k while this one he can legitimately price it at just around 30k is it smart to buy this car absolutely not lol but I think he knows no smart person will buy this car this is a car that’s aimed towards people who want to have a nicer car then they can actually afford and there’s ALOT of people who fall in that category

    • @redherring395
      @redherring395 Před 2 lety +2

      @@romeothompson9389 IMO that wouldn't be a nice (or reliable) car to own and the type of person who can afford it wouldn't spend that type of money on a car with that type of history or title.
      Most people who will attempt to purchase that car will probably have poor credit and make it more of a nightmare to sell for a profit than the Bentley.
      In my area clean, low mileage C6 Z06's with a clear title are selling for well under $40k and buyers still aren't purchasing them. Most people willing to spend that type of money are going to be in the market for a C7 with its newer body style and updated technology.
      From my experience, the typical C6 buyer for that Z06 is going to be in their 20's and probably have a budget of $20k and either little credit (at best) or poor credit.

    If you are going to keep it (I would), find an experienced Corvette shop in your area and have them rework the heads. The LS7 is infamous for the valve guides getting loose and breaking valves. The problem was one of engineering on the LS7. The valve guide in the head is short compared to the length of the valve, and the extra lateral load of the long valve exerts more force in the trunnion area, which wears the guides prematurely, the valve is now at an incorrect angle to the valve seat.......the valve breaks.....valve end and piston live together for about 2-3 seconds and BOOM you have catastrophic engine failure.
    Pull the valve covers and do a "wiggle test", look it up on CZcams. Wiggle the valves and rockers, if the valve stem move in the guide/trunnion.....get it fixed QUICK.....and not by the guy you had working on the Suburban!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Pay the money and get one of those mobile interior refurbishers to come by and fix that passenger seat. If you find a good one you won’t even see the repair. That slow to start condition…I’d check the battery and connections and then the wires to the starter…could have a leaking injector or bad tune or something…I’d get that checked to ensure something bad does not happen. Personally given the purchase price I’d keep it as a drift/track car…sell it after you have sorted it out if you can get the right number.

Good luck with the added professionalism and wish you all the sucess you can achieve. Cheers from Australia.

      It’s nearing 15 years old as long as it’s in decent shape when he sells it and it gets past the usual 30 days or 60 days that dealers have to warranty a car by state laws he would be fine honestly if someone buys a older corvette with a rebuilt title and doesn’t understand the risk involved in that then they have a serious lack of brain power

    Battery probably doesn’t have enough cold cranking Amps for the car. Looks like the previous owner or shop cheaped out on a lot of the repairs so they also probably didn’t buy the correct battery. This thing has a lot of issues with the body paint and repairs. Doesn’t seem like the front fenders are OEM - they flex too much. Panel gaps are off. If there was roof damage there was major frame / unibody damage. Driver side rear wheel looks off in alignment. I’d dump it.

    Take the GM engine out, put in a P11 SR20VET, and use the 240 as a fun summer car. The Corvette is easier to find and with a Rebuilt title, if it goes into a wall you'll get yout money back out of the drivetrain!

    The Z06 fenders are much more expensive than the G/S fenders. The body shop may have billed the insurance for Z06 fenders, but fitted G/S fenders to pocket some extra coin.

  • @garys1266

    Not sure what you paid for it, but you probably know with your experience as a dealer that there are a lot of panel gaps which makes me question the body shop that did the repairs. Would also be interesting to see the underside of the car on a lift to see if they had to straighten out the frame when it was wrecked, which I believe is aluminum on the C7s. Keep it and track/drift it.
