  • In this video we show you HOW to Keep Your BOAT ENGINE Running COOL and CLEAN by DESCALING FLUSH!. We had our boat engine overheating, and our next procedure was to Descale our engine of possible cooling system obstruction. The last time I did the Descaling Flush Process was 16 years ago, so we did it again to see if there's any obstruction of calcium, scale or sea life buildup in the engines cooling system.
    **HOSE FITTING CORRECTION ON OUR VIDEO**
    Although the way we had it still works, the correct way is to have the yellow plastic fitting shown in the video on the right installed on the left to be able to control the water hose on and off valve. This way you don't have to turn off the water hose from the hose bibb to start dispensing the descaling fluid.

    Ok. You have it hooked up wrong. Go to 9:40 and the shut off on the right is suppose to be on the garden hose side so you don't have to have your buddy at the water shut off where the water is supplied. Put it on the water hose side and you can control the water input and the tank input . My boat is from Florida and it too runs at 175 plus.. I've replaced the exhaust manifolds, riser and thermostat, but still no change. I'd be curious if this works.. Hopefully it does and your next post is in the water post .

    16 years in salt water and didn't have to change manifolds/risers once? that's pretty amazing

    • @KeysBoatingChannel
      @KeysBoatingChannel  Před 8 měsíci +2

      Hi Evan, thanks so much for watching our video! The descaling process wasn't done again for 16 years, the manifolds has been changed every 4 to 5 years in saltwater environment. Peace from the Keys!

    I recently had a hvac I guy look at boat AC. Coincidently he mentioned doing the same think to my boat's AC system. Slightly different procedure but does the same thing using a different chemical. He said the discharge will look like mud. He does it to his boat.

      @@KeysBoatingChannel what was the solution ratio for the AC flush?

  • @joshmosley5864
    @joshmosley5864 Před 10 měsíci +2

    Yeah the shut off needs to be on the water intake side so you can shut off the water when you open the tank valve. Otherwise you are further diluting your solution.

    Easier just to measure the one gallon and then mark tank, then just fill to mark with hose and no attachment on hose.

    Are the thermostat housing passages clear? When you changed the the thermostat I was hoping to see the passages inside the housing….maybe when the thermostat opens clogged up passages restrict water: cooling flow???

    • @KeysBoatingChannel
      @KeysBoatingChannel  Před 10 měsíci +2

      Hi, thanks for watching our video. When I removed the housing it was clean and clear, did not see any obstruction. But will be looking for any clogs on my next video replacing our circulating water pump. Thanks so much for your comment. It is very helpful information. Peace from the Keys.

    I sure hope your overheating problem is resolved. If it still is overheating can you do a descaling one more time? Sure enjoy your family time at the sandbar.

    • @KeysBoatingChannel
      @KeysBoatingChannel  Před 10 měsíci +2

      Yes, we can do the descaling again, and probably will too. After we change the circulating water pump. Thanks again!

      @KeysBoatingChannel  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Hi, thank s for watching our video! I replaced the thermostat with a new one, and did the descaling treatment, and still overheating. It just overheats at high speeds around 4,400 rpms, does not overheat at 4,000 rpms or below. Thanks for your comment, Peace from the Keys!
