My wife is Albanian. I spent two months there. The beaches, the mountains, the food, carrying lek, the friendly people is all mostly true as detailed in this video. It truly is breath taking to swim in the shark free sea and look at the mountains at the same time! Restaurant service is often absolutely dreadful by American standards and most restaurants do not have AC. If you use public transportation be ready for extremely cramped conditions that will most likely not have AC as well. Be choosy about where you stay both for location and price as prices for just about everything can be all over the board depending where you are. Albanians generally are friendly to visitors which is great. Beware of scam's as some will try to charge Americans more than the regular price for thing's. Gym's often do not have AC on believe it or not and driving is a free for all. I actually enjoyed driving in the Albanian craziness in places where there were no traffic lights because everything kept moving. Some people will hate this however. I enjoyed Vlore and Tirana. I did not like Himare though the sea is absolutely gorgeous there. If you have family there be prepared for apartments and homes without AC. I had a large fan with me every family visit. My Albanian family members bought big fans for each of their homes to ease my suffering. A sweet and loving people! I am very blessed to have them!

You actually described many many countries. Even in Australia many apartments and homes don't have AC. And if they do it's usually never central AC but after market wall units instead. It surprised me as I lived in various countries how uncommon AC can be, after living in the U.S.. But, you can always find AC if you look for it wherever you go.

    • @triarb5790

If anybody is planning on going and you would like to do what we did then I can send you some info about our driver. He was a wonderful addition to our trip and became friends almost immediately. Oh! You should go to Ksamil, Sarandë! It’s one of the best and cleanest country’s/beaches in the world! You should definitely go there, and the food in the restaurants there is AMAZING! I love a full plate of shrimp pasta, and it’s very cheap! (Ex: Large plate of shrimp pasta: 5$ US dollars) Every August when I go to Albania I always go to Ksamil! Another thing! The hotels are so luxurious and very affordable! There are coffee bars everywhere and even gambling bars! And a recommendation: GET FRIED CORN! It’s soooooo good, even if it is a hot day and the corn is hot, it just suits the beach style and it’s very delicious!!!! ANDDDD another thing I like about the beach is that there’s like 2 floors, the first one is where the beach is with the seats, and the 2nd is where the restaurants are, so every time you book a seat (3$ US DOLLARS FOR A WEEK) they give you this phone where you can call the nearest restaurant and order what you would like, then your seats always have numbers so you can tell them where you are, when the food arrives it’s hot (or cold if you ordered something that’s usually cold). And the best thing I like about going to Ksamil is that a night walk is the best! It’s full of people and there’s boats everywhere with colorful lights around them, for you to take a sea tour! There’s people selling stuff to kids, from colorful light balloons (that don’t pop) to things you launch in the sky and always come back! The restaurants at night are so pretty and very good to enjoy dinner!

You also have to know that traffic on main roads in horrible: very busy, agresive driving, white lines missing on the road, the freeway is not really a freeway because it's not isolated from the outside (limit is around 100 km/h, people are selling vegetables and stuff on the side of the road, cars stop on the emergency lane, people or animals can cross the highway, etc.). You have to keep this in mind when crossing or visiting Albania.

The country is stunning, it really has everything the whole planet 🌍 has in that just small country, from beautiful beaches to snowy alps and green lushness
My only concern is that the country's tourism has shot up recently and it may spoil it,.... otherwise it really lives up to the reputation as Maldives of Europe and Switzerland picks all in one

The food is good but i want to suggest visiting another Albanian country Kosova(Kosova was divided from Albania by force in 1878 and another time in july 1913, however on 1999 after the war it became independent) where they also have nice people like Albania.
