I always though options was 10x more confusing than it really is. Turns out most of my friends just don’t know how to explain it that well. You got a talent for putting things into simple words and I thank you for that.
Yes, I concur. My boyfriend is a genius, he is an ER physician and multi-talented. He tried to explain options trading to me and it was so confusing and made no sense. I AM NOT A PHYSICIAN, I just have a Biology degree from UCLA. I know I am somewhat intelligent. I was at the top of my Organic chemistry classes. Thank you for being able to explain in easy-to-understand terms here. I was a subscriber to Rayner Teo channel, he is great at explaining in very simple terms, I learned immensely and profited😂😂😂

Yeah this is a good start. As an option trader, you’ll also need to consider the option Greeks. Some new traders get surprised by theta decay and the trading volatility of the underlying stock even though the stock price is close to their strike price.

*three factors affect options prices 1. Time 2. Direction 3. Volatility*
passage of time (theta) works in your favor when selling options but hurts when buying options
Direction (delta) is the movement or price action
Volatility (gamma) is how aggressive price moves in one direction or the other
credit and debit spreads are directional (bullish/bearish) bets
a credit spread you receive a credit because you sell to open the trade (STO) from which you would buy to close (BTC) the spread for a debit at a lower price (think shorting a stock)
A debit spread you buy for a debit (buy to open or BTO) from which you would sell the debit spread for a higher price (sell to close or STC)
Iron condor and strangles are neutral bets because you don’t want price aggressively moving in one direction or the other
iron condors are just two credit/debit spreads put on simultaneously and strangles are a put and call put on simultaneously
