More Guitar Tones for Free: The Thumb of Curiosity

Last Wednesday during Office Hours (a weekly Q&A I’ve been leading for my students) I went down a super fruitful rabbit-hole on the topic of picking exclusively with my thumb! I’m still actually processing it several days later!
Not only can I alter my tone with my right hand approach, but I can basically alter my thinking! It's a new guitar sound, for free!

"You can never play anything exactly the same way twice". Really helpful insight to those who take it to heart. I tell myself this all the time. It's a great reminder that keeps me continually inspired and not bogged down or discouraged by the thought of my playing not being original or creative enough. It's this mentality that you promote that keeps me coming back to your channel.

I fell into playing mostly with my thumb almost as long as I’ve played guitar..(about 40 years..). Largely because I kept dropping my pick (ha) but I continue because I love the touch and the sound of skin on the strings..(John Abercrombie became a thumb picker later in his career) This is a great lesson...keep up the good work.
