I could totally see myself on a nice summer day smoking a joint on the front porch to this song

Been having this on repeat since it came out! For me, someone who struggles with depression, this song is actually so liberating.. I feel like this song is more about life after death than it is about drugs. Remember, art is typically expressed through metaphors and symbolism. Art is amazing because it can be interpreted in so many different ways, but I'm 99% sure YUNGBLUD's idea behind the teenagers on the ground is to represent all the youngins we've lost to suicide. They aren't high, they're "dead", Lil Yachty's shirt actually says "I wanna go home", referring to the afterlife. I feel like they're slowly realizing they still have a conscious on the other side.. which sets them free, knowing they don't have to live in fear (of death/suffering/past or possible future mistakes) and finally being able to trust and enjoy the universe/the unknown! So they take a leap of faith and jump into to water together, symbolizing a rebirth (reincarnating to Earth), before ending it with the close up of his eye, his "new life, new eyes". Like seeing life in a different perspective ❤️
It does remind me of the many people who have experienced spiritual awakenings and rebirths while being under the influence of non addictive psychedelic substances like ayahuasca, DMT or psilocybine (microdosing of mushrooms; that is already being used in therapy for people with mood disorders), especially because of Lil Yachty's line "come and do drugs with me". I've never had any psychedelic but I did have a spiritual awakening, and it did make me realize there's no use in trying to escape this reality, so why not enjoy myself for the time being.. in a healthy way ofcourse, after gaining this new perspective! 😄 I feel like this song has the same message. Instead of trying to unalive yourself, "come and take drugs with me" or in other words; try a different perspective.
Anyways, that's my take, thank you for reacting to this one!! 🥰

Ohhh I see. That’s a very interesting interpretation!! Thank you for sharing this perspective and shedding a new light on it. I appreciate that. You’re right. That’s the beauty of art. Love how you so eloquently and interestingly communicated that.

@@rosalieelliottofficial love hearing you value other interpretations, and I appreciate you for being so open minded to be able to see where I'm coming from! It is true that alot of YUNGBLUD's followers probably won't view the song in this perspective, and in that sense I totally see how taking the lyrics very literally can be dangerous. It could help clear things up if he would be able to release an interview or a video clearing up what he actually meant with the lyrics. Other than that, people need the warning you gave in this video regardless, so thank you for that Rosalie, I appreciate you for not shying away from the truth!!! Keep shining that light, much love! ❤️

The song and visuals are showing how situations like living impoverished or thoughts of suicide can lead to drugs (floating/escapism). The chorus is the addiction speaking. The point where it's all you think about. And maybe some hope that the addiction will be over. Lil Yachty's verse is speaking to a partner that quit drugs and he is trying to get that situation back by bringingthem back to his distorted world. The visual of diving into water upward. Swimming around like it's fun whilst actually drowning. I don't think it's dangerous. It's an allegory of the lies you spoke about. Understanding escapism is the key to understanding this song/video. It's incredible.

When we die , we get the truth and the way to life, you let no mind control you or manipulate you . Dreams ? Another way of live a lie . Truth persons don't dream .

I do like YB a lot but with his and Yachty's quite young fanbases I have a hard time with this one. Being a British born 80's kid and teens in the 90's I absolutely adore the BritPop sound and nod's to Oasis and the Verve but lyrically yeah, it's really quite problematic.

His vocals are nice, but I can't support these lyrics. Come and do drugs with him? Hard pass. Misery loves company, but it doesn't have to be me. And no you can't still get high, though you may still crave it. But you don't have a body at first for the chemicals to react on. And when you resurrect you will have a perfect body not susceptible to pain, poison or any other chemicals.

Great analysis, Rosalie. Love the music and the vibe, but the message was a lie. Be present; running and hiding from life is never the answer.

I'm not advocating for drug use but the way you said you cannot function while on drugs or have a cohesive conversation with someone especially acid or shrooms shows me you don't know what you're talking about.
