  • This video is about how well Nibor-D (DOT) mixes in water and stays dissolved vs. boric acid, which doesn't mix well or stay in solution.

    I learnt that boric acid will join to water atom with a coordinate bond and water will lose an hydrogen.

    Nibor-D has Pyriproxyfen. Does that dissolve in the water?

    I recently found out about DOT and purchased the other day for this very reason. In the past I’ve sworn by Boric acid but I find bad that using it in my kitchen or bathrooms it’s not affective in areas where it could get wet. So I still like boric acid just won’t be using it in wet areas. Heyn switching to the DOT because it can get wet also can be used as a dry powered.

    Does nibor-d kill or just keep them away? And can I add solution to nibor-d-water like bleach dish soap ect...?

    • @robwilliams2265
      @robwilliams2265 Před rokem

      They are both Non- repellents. The roaches only avoid them if applied too thickly

    Which one is better for cockroach control, nibor-d or boric acid? Thank you very much!

      Pretty much the same effectiveness when applied as a dust. Nibor D is more versatile since you can apply it as a spray ( less effective) and add to your mop bucket. It is more expensive per pound

    Please my dear teacher What is the amount of triethanolamine needed to dissolve 1 kg of boric acid

    • @NisusCorp
      @NisusCorp  Před 2 lety +1

      That is not relevant for aqueous borate mixtures nor pest management applications. Boric acid in water has a solubility of 4% and DOT a solubility of about 15% at room temperature. Boric acid dissolves slowly as is crystalline and endothermic and DOT fast as amorphous and exothermic.
      Mixing boric acid with ethanolamine is done for liquid agriculture products such as "Boron 10" if farmers can’t find "Max-Up Boron 10" which is ethanolamine free. It is MEA rather that TEA that is used and it can achieve 10 % as elemental boron (about 47% as DOT - so very concentrated).

      DOT stands for disodium octaborate tetrahydrate. It can be used as a broad spectrum insecticide and fungicide.

    does this mean boric acid is insoluble in water?

    • @NisusCorp
      @NisusCorp  Před 6 lety +2

      Great question! Boric acid will dissolve somewhat up to a maximum of 5% but it does not become a one phase solution meaning the borate will still settle out. - Hope that helps!

      Hi! The answer to your question depends a lot on temperature. If we assume a room temperature of 25C and 77F you can get closer to 17% DOT. For boric acid at these same temperatures you can get 5.6% into solution.

    what is DOT?

    • @NisusCorp
      @NisusCorp  Před 4 lety +1

      Disodium Octaborate Tetrahydrate (or DOT) is a white, odorless, powdered substance containing the basic elements of boron and oxygen, and is most often used in pest control products that are designed to target wood destroying insects such as termites, carpenter ants, and powderpost beetles. Disodium Octaborate Tetrahydrate is not flammable and presents little or no hazard (to humans).
