There are very few people worthy of the term, 'national treasure'. Fewer still, those who are quite rightly described as 'global treasure'. Michael Palin fits both.

The Pythons are members of good standing in the pantheon of great comic actors, along with Dudley Moore and Peter Cook. So many unforgettable sketches.....Around The World in Eighty Days is amazing, watch the series if you haven't already. Palin is hilarious, as you might guess, but he is also respectful of the cultures in which he immerses himself, and the series is very informative.

The Fellowship Award is the big award of the evening for good work over a period of time to an admired talent and person. A long speech is expected and probably encouraged to show appreciation and their own context about their work.
