I'm 71 and you explained ground problems like a PRO i.e. like you been doing this for 50 years. Good Job. Thanks.
When a guy on CZcams explains things better than most teachers
Good to see a young man work on his own car ..most your age are clueless...great video man
As a ham radio operator, I will tell you another place you can eliminate radio noise, and the factory does NOT do this for you. Ground your tailpipe! It acts as an antenna putting out noise. Try a strap hose clamped toward the back of your pipe to chassis.
Woooooow. I can't believe someone posted EXACTLY how to fix all these dam problems! The video was PERFECT. You got right to the point and showed exactly what, when, and how. I actually had the engine ground to chasi strip attached but it was so frayed and gunked up with oil on the engine block part (where you mentioned yours was burned off) it was creating havoc with everything electrical in the truck. Over a year and a half with these probz now they're gone. Thanks Brother!
Hell yeah! I’m happy to hear I was able to help out with your truck problems man. Hope thing continue smoothly👍
Yes great video but missed two other critical grounds. Two ones right next to each on the frame behind the drivers wheel (2 bolts) and the main one from the negative battery terminal. There is one more on the passenger column that I have yet to determine how to get to it. Great video -Thanks for posting
@@condor5635 He also missed the slip-ring grounds for each of the 4 wheels, as rotating /spinning wheel/discs generate a LOT of wasted static electricity, so grounding them back to the battery is also critical (unless you want to move - in which case rotating wheels may twist your cable if it's too tight.)
Got my engine replace over 10 yrs ago. I always wondered what that strap was for after it was just left hanging. I ran it to my alternators ground bracket and it fixed all my electric issues. My lights don't dim now when the bass hits. Lights don't dim when I use my windows. Thanks for the video. This was my win for the day.
Been working on my 99 Silverado for about a week- weird issues with the security light, no headlights or interior lights working , couldn’t figure it out…..
Thanks to your video I fixed the grounds and boom- truck is running better than it ever has with everything WORKING !
You’re a lifesaver man, thanks !
Jan 2024. My brother in laws 2003 Chevy 1500 PIckup had exact same problem. Bless you for describing this problem to us plebes. You led us to think ground problem and helped us narrow down a bad electrical ground. Thank you thank you thank you! Mechanic wanted $300 just to look at it and we almost considered going to a mechanic but then this video allowed us to problem solve it!
Glad to hear I was able to help!
Great info! Bad grounds can cause all kinds of weird problems. Make sure they're good before troubleshooting any other electrical issues. Good tip on cleaning off that paint from the hood bolt. Many people would have missed or skipped that step.
Excellent video! Thanks man, videos like yours are a real public service.
Hey man, I just wanted to say you so much for taking the time and effort to show us step by step instructions, along with awesome visual clarity on the locations of the grounds. Saved my bacon man
bad grounds can trigger all kinds of electrical problems. Good video, thanks
Im happy your video was the first that popped up for results how you explained this is awesome and very very clear not a bunch of jobber jabber like most vids i find! thank you jr!
Damm it boy !! Took a while to figure out what was wrong !! I was checking every little ground except that one. Ac was causing volatage to drop and windows as well . 👍👍Fixed the problem. Thank you !!
Thanks for taking the time and showing us were the block side is at
JR, thanks, because of your video i found that the ground wire attached to my hood was broken off. thanks again for your help
Did no one else catch the "900 lb ft" of torque comment he made? 🤣
Yeah I did🤣🤣
LOL I did...caused a chuckle.
Yea - and I was wondering if he would also show us replacing the bolt after he snapped it off.
…it was obviously a joke 🤣, I bet your a fun guy at party’s
What a great video just helped me out so much. Love how you explained it all in detail dont see that a lot
Thank You, Legacy Jr. You just helped in a MAJOR way, keep the info fresh 202
You came in clutch man I just recently got a 2003 Chevy Silverado and it’s doing that exact same thing thank you fr fr
The Battery disconnect not withstanding the video was well made and very helpful keep up the good work.
3:50 - I honestly never thought to use my phone as an extra set of eyes like that. Awesome tip!!
Legacy Jr. - Thanks for making this video. It's going to give me a few areas to check in an effort to resolve some minor electrical bugs.
Thanks for this. I wasn't having any issues that I could see, but I did find the chassis to block and the one to the hood both flopping around under the hood. I had no idea where to find the block bolt. Now I know. Liked/Subbed.
Much appreciation for this video bro. I had the same exact fire and burnt my braided wire and that’s what caused my intermittent electrical issues.
I have a 2008 4.8L Tahoe, I don’t see a ground wire going to the hood and the other ground wire disappears behind the engine. Will have to look into some more.
Great video brotha , best one I seen far as grounds go.
Thanks bro been looking for how to fix the problem and my truck was doing exactly the same thing. As the beginning and my mechanics didn’t know how or what was the problem but you got right to it and kept me watching gonna switch these ground cables hopefully does the same fix bro appreciate time and effort in making of this video
I appreciate this video! Having all these issues and just notice mine is completely gone.
Guys like me need guys like you homie! Thanks!
I still have yet to get the ground wires on my truck replaced but I’m so glad to have found this!! My truck has been giving me electrical issues the entire time I’ve owned it. Fingers crossed this is what I need to do 🤞🏽
Any updates bro?
Any updates bubba?! I hope your not broke down somewhere..It’s been a year since you wrote us! Let us know something!
Going the extra mile and showing us exactly where it's at is what made me subscribe. Ain't many CZcamsrs like that. Salu2 desde Tulsa, OKlas 918
Same here subbed!
Any idea why mine isn't still working?
Dude. Thanks for video. My 2003 Z71 suburban had been acting up for last three weeks. First week, the 4WD trouble code began appearing. The second week, my lights started operation weird and I got a security indicator in the dash. Third, my car would not start. I would jump it and it would drive but very weak, with power fluctuation. Checked all grounds and they were good. Battery check was good; battery only 8 months old. Figured alternator was the issue. Good thing is I have a donor suburban at my house and it had a good alternator. I changed the alternator and while reconnecting the negative battery cable I noticed my hand was full of oxidation particles. I pulled the rubber cover off the negative cable terminal and the whole thing was with oxidation. You couldn’t tell from looking at it with the rubber at the terminal end on. Once I cleaned off the entire negative terminal and screwed it back in, the vehicle worked perfect. Tried it with both alternators and they are both working. It was the battery ground cable. Luckily, when reattaching neg cable to battery I noticed those oxidation particles coming out. The battery was still charging but could not start the car. Crazy stuff that can make you go crazy. Thanks again for your video.
Damn JR i respect the amount of time you spent making this video, you also make it pretty easy to follow along step by step
Appreciate those words brotha 💯
@@LegacyJRhey bro appreciate the video it saved my truck from Facebook marketplace😂 but now I think the ignition control module went bad after sitting for awhile 😢 could you help me on the location I’m getting allot of mixed directions on its location
Great job on the video. You speak really fast, but the information was excellent. Thanks. I subscribed.
Great video
I think I can fix my electrical troubles now
You are a god Homie!
I’ve been having constant problems with the sound system in my 06 work truck, constantly killing my battery, shutting the radio off setting off all kinds of lights even blowing my O2 sensor fuses.. the guy I bought the truck from took all those top grounds off for some reason along with some other dumb bullshit but good looking this video at this point you may as well consider yourself a legit philanthropist 🙌🏻
🙌🤝❗️
First off I want to say thank you for the very informational video. Oh, I thought this video was all cap but I went and bought me that ground strap, and now my windows go up and does not pour power at all lifesaver.
Thanks bro you just helped out a billion omg my ground wires are broken wow explains the charging issue cause everything has been replaced wow
It's always good to disconnect your ground on your battery before doing any electrical work on your vehicle. Should be the first step and I like to take a wire brush to the surface area around the grounds but all in all great video.
Let’s just Say someone forget to disconnect the battery when changing the alternator…what are some issues one might face
nothing just better to disconnect so nothing can arc or ground out whatever, it cuts off all electronics.@@kadariusvaughn4818
Thanks for the video bro!!
It helps me a lot
nice it worked for me, I went to the alternator bracket and it fixed my issues
As a time and headache saver you don’t have to mount the ground strap to the original spot on the back of the block. You can simply run it to the alternator bracket and bolt it down there.
What size bolt and dimensions?
I just ran that wire to the alternator GROUND, misunderstanding what you said. I don't know what all i melted...but i may have totaled the vehicle.
@@AbideinChristFully Man you should've just Done it in it's original spot.
@@AbideinChristFully Take the L
@@AbideinChristFully prob fried something in the alternator... all is not lost
Nice video and good explanation!
Excellent job, great video
Good vid. Thank you. Recommend cleaning where the alternator power wire and positive meet in the red junction. Then lube with dielectric grease.
dam awesome video. I broke mine when I changed my oil pressure sensor on my 2005 sierra. and my "service brake system" light came on. I bet it has to do something with this. ground wire.
thanks for the video and going the extra mile showing the location
Atta boy young man… working hard!
Great Job Jr, thanks for the video.
Also clean the connections and apply some Dielectric Grease on there to keep corrosion from forming. Use on any power connection exposed or any electrical plug. There's also a main ground on frame under drivers door as well as possibly some on frame under headlights. Same thing clean with wire wheel etc to bare metal and Dielectric Grease
Good job bro very informative. Another route you could of went with would of been 4guage pure copper wire with brass connectors wrapped in loom.
Yo Jr, that truck looks sweet. You know that thier is a ground strap under the driver side cab that is the one that ground,s the cab to the chassis and feeds all the dash stuff. Great vid yo...
Good video and thanks for not having loud shitty music. Well done.
My radio has a horrible hum, thanks to your video I found the hood to firewall ground missing, idk if it's also causing my draw or not? But it will fix my radio! Thanks!!
Thank you Junior, much appreciated!! 👍👍👏👏👏
Good video, good camera work too
Great Video bro. Best by far on replacing ground wires on the 1500 Chevy Silverado
Good job bud and also if your battery is draining check your body ground or your frame ground for your battery front passenger side on frame that could be corroded or anything
Thanks for showing how to do this. Nice job.
A thing I always do for corrosion protection is wire wheel connection to clean, then just before you reinstall, apply vaseline (cheaper than die electric grease but serves same purpose done this for over 10 years no issues
Thanks man great video keep it up
Thanks so much man I subscribed
bruhhhh been struggling w this truck because of the same problem, thanks for the help
Nice job! Thanks.
Helpful and descriptive video for sure, but the part that had my dyin was "torque it to 900ft lbs of torque" lol xD
Engine swapping my 99 Chevy Silverado to an LT motor and I forgot that main ground thanks for the video!
Hell yeah brotha , hope everything goes smoothly
How are you enjoying that engine swap?! Let us know something and keep us updated please!
Solid video bro thank you.
Great video, thanks.
Only one you left out is Negative off the battery to the block, very important one as well
Great video bro
Thanks I was having alternator charging issues an random other issues on the gadget panel, ended up the block to cab ground strap was finger loose and dirty, cleaned it and tighten it down everything works as it should
Did you place your ground to the far back of the block or on the top back of the block like this video?
@Patrick Allen I put it back at back of the block in factory location
Nicely done ✅
yeah thanks and god bless this can help so many people
Great video, thanks!!!
Lo que me gusto del video es que empezó con el estilo mexicano un soporte estratégico. Cuando la crisis está cansada 😅. Carbon.
Damn!! Great help.
Good job! Thank you sir!
I know this is an old post I'm hoping somebody seize this. We have a GMC Sierra classic it comes up as 0607 when looking up schematics for the wiring harness and all. So we took the bed of the truck off the frame did some framework some work was done under the hood that caused us to unhook ground n cables. When everything got put back together something was missed because now when I hit my windshield wiper my radio comes on. It's throwing a code for g10 ground help
This is very helpful. Looks like mine, the one behind the motor has rubbed on the motor and burnt so... thank you for this! I can't get to bottom bolt but I can at least know what's wrong. Thank you! My lights were flickering!
Thanks for sharing 👍
Great video
New subscriber....good job
Excellent !
great content!!
Good video my guy is was very helpful. But I wanted to comment that you need a cold air tube for that intake. Your just pulling the hot air off the radiator into the motor
New cold air intake setup already installed cause you are correct but this set up does work for tubbed trucks because you can no longer run the stock air box in the stock location after it’s been tubbed.
You are a good person,
Thx bro good stuff
Thanks for the video
What a good video boss, one question, instead of putting it on the back of the block, I could put one of the holes in the head. next to the spark plug
very very helpful thanks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dude thanks so much for this!!! One question, what’s the 3rd wire go to? You didn’t show the detail like the first 2.
Your video is 🔥
I just got a 99 Chevy 1500. Noticed a few busted fuses for mirrors, locks and windows. Imma have to check the grounding tomorrow in the morning.
New Subscriber Bro
Did you happen to have a slow start/crank before fixing this issue? I just replaced my intake manifold gasket and plugs on my 2003 Silverado 2500 6.0 and had noticed some significant corrosion on that strap. truck sounds and runs great, just a slow start seems to be my issue and can't understand why.
Bro, ive had various electrical n charging issues on my 06 silverado since about 2010! Im replacing these ground wires and i bet it fixes my frequent voltage problems. Thanks for this well explained vid! And glad to see a young man working hard and sharing his knowledge! Hella yeah!
Oh! And torque those bitches down!😂😂
This video saved my life LOL
Good job, thanks
You are the 🐐 !
Hey bro, I like the great content and informative video. I got a question, can I get the same hood on your truck for a 01 suburban? If so where can I look it up?
That’s a bad ass hood
Thanks ma man god lead me to u i got the same shit and been annoying as fk i never find out whats going i try everything u the lifesaver dog, much love thanks for sharing us and spend time to record&upload peace big boy
