  • As we continue on our journey, the weather has drastically changed which affects the drying process. But we're patient and we ask you to be as well. We have both Kayaks cut, glued, shaved, and ready for the canvas to be applied.

Thank you for that information and watching the video. I know there are a LOT of tutorials out there on how to build just about anything. But this was something my wife and I wanted to try on our own. It is not an instructional video. But the kayaks are amazing and incredibly sturdy and useful for us. And have held up very well. God Bless you.

I kinda figured you could use some canvas. I brought that idea up to a friend and he said that it wouldn't work.
Would like to see how they have held up.
    Thank you

It will be three years this January since we made them and they have both held up VERY well. We've had several journeys (and my wife's kayak has been on the water more) and it is still doing and looking great. We do keep them put up when not in use in our workshop. We did coat the canvas in bed-liner sealer after the paint dried. So, it does work! God Bless

Cool project! Did you epoxy a bedsheet onto it?!?! I'm curious how this is holding up compared to fiberglass. Any update?

The final coat was bed-liner sealer over a painters drop cloth which is like muslin. They are remarkable. We've been on the water multiple times and everything is as good as the first day. And thank you for watching.

Hello, thank you for watching and commenting. After I applied the glue, I pressed the fabric all around and into the creases and continued to do so as it dried. The glue takes a little while to set up so it gives you ample time to press it smooth. God Bless

What kind of glue did you use between the foam boards?

Also Liquid Nails to save money if you have a big project. We made two kayaks and both tested very well.

@@CarvingCanvasandConversation That's great to know. That's again for your help.
I'm going to start with a kayak but my big project after I learn some things with the boat will be to make roof that can be lowered and raised for my homemade camper. The current roof is giving my water issues.

I enjoyed the video, the inside looks like our house, very cozy. I shared it with my eldest son who was also remodeling his camper. Where is part two?
