  • Welcome to Leavenworth, WA! Washington’s little Germany town. Located on the eastern side of the Cascade Mountains about 2 hours from Seattle, WA, this quirky little town is home to year round fun including Oktoberfest, epic Christmas lights, beautiful fall colors, spring flowers, and, of course, beer and pretzels! We loved our short time in Leavenworth and will likely continue to pass through this little town time and time again since some of our favorite mountain spots are located in the mountains just outside of Leavenworth town limits.

I went to summer camp just outside of Leavenworth in the early 60's. It was not the wonderful Bravarian Village that it is now. I have been very lucky to see it change and grow over the years. Thanks for shining a spotlight on a beautiful place in Washington State.

If memory serves, Leavenworth was a logging town and after the tree-huggers got the mills to shut down, the locals needed something to keep the town alive, so they converted the whole town into a Bavarian Village.

FYI Leavenworth also has a small ski area and lodge plus inner tubing. Ice sculpting competition. Art in the park pole dancing may fest parade. Also Leavenworth use the be known for big ski jumping tournaments of there 90 meter ski jump less then. 1/4 mike out of town. People all over the world were invited to competition this jump for a tournament of the best of the best. People trained in for the tournament . Leavenworth didn’t have a lot of hotels back then so they were house among local for places to stay. It was one of the most amazing events to attend all the way around. The hill still resides the at Leavenworth ski course called BAKKE HILL. Been an interesting town for years. Just a few memorable thing I’ve attended and enjoyed remembering about the little town called LEAVENWORTH. Thank for listening. Sincerely Tracy

It’s a mini version of Leavenworth but all Norwegian-themed. Maybe you’ve driven by on your way to the ferry before. There’s lots of great shops and restaurants and we’re only a short drive from the Olympic Peninsula. Happy travels! 🚐

The Iceland trip itinerary looks sweet. Just note that the cost adjustment of stuff is steep cause it's an island. So the airport duty free is the place to get booze. The grocery stores w/ the pig icon are worth visiting. The midnight sun is real, so bring an eye mask. Their ice cream is superb and seemed to be a late night thing to have in Reykjavik: Valdis at the harbor closes at 11pm. The fermented shark is an ammonia bomb. The water (shower/tap) will smell like sulfur at first, but if you let the water sit uncovered, it will taste great in 10 minutes.

As a German living in Northern Germany I think it’s funny to see you explore „German“ things that are in fact just Bavarian things 😄 Bavaria must be very impressive to the rest of the world, considering that Germany is often reduced to Bavarian looks and traditions 😄 don’t be disappointed if you ever visit the rest of Germany which doesn’t look like Bavaria at all! 😄

Bavaria and Hesse were the US occupational zone post-WWII, so they were the first places returning GIs thought of when thinking about Germany. Eventually a lot of those veterans got film and television jobs and the rest is history.
