  • Fluval's new FX2 is the smaller version of the FX4, but how does it stack up in comparison to the 407? Let's take a look at each and see where the differences are and if one is better than the other.
A big thank you to Fluval for providing the FX2 for these videos and my testing. This is sponsored by Fluval, but the 407 was paid for out of my own pocket.

Brilliant video. I've always had the 07 filters but loved your video very informative

Great video! I am a Fluvol fan and have both an FX6 for my 125G and just purchased the FX2 for my 60G cube.

straight away the height concern pointout was very appreciated, something i would have overlooked when adding on the tubing on top. Nice vid man good stuff :)

I have a 407 on a 75 gallon for two years now and I love it. The media choices you can try out. The convenient pull out trays. Super quiet plus it keeps my tank water clean. Never had any air issues. Great video on the comparison 👍

I currently have a 55 gallon saltwater tank with a 407. I was thnking about going to an FX model as I am upgrading slightly to a 75 gallon tank. The FX4/6 would not fit in my new stand so I thought about the FX2. Your review convinced me to stand pat. Both units will fit in my new stand with no problem and since I already have 2 circulators in my saltwater tank, the extra strength of the FX2 pump, really does not matter that much to me. Thank you very much for this review, It gave me all of the information I needed to make my decision.

That's a very good explanation of the 2 I think it comes down to what type of space you have to store the filter.✌️👍💗💯 Thanks for sharing

407 is great in combination with UVC (i use it for 6 months and so far, no problems). I think there is no option to use UVC on FX series. If you ask me, that would be a big plus for 407. what i really like on FX4 and FX6 is easy water change with utility valve feature, which is not present on FX2. That was really big surprise for me. Why they gave up of it, did you have problems with utility valve? I am about to buy FX4 and every info about possible problems is more than welcome. And, thank you for all your videos, so many useful information presented on max. friendly way to all of us, beginners and experienced hobbyists.

Thanks for doing this vid. Seems like much of a muchness. I think people nowadays get obsessed about flow rate. Seen too many tanks with fish blown into a corner. I might lean towards the 407, but it would also depens on availibilty.

I have a 405 and a 406 and set up a 407 on my moms african cichlid tank. Absolutely love the filter. It’s easy and fast to close off the hoses and take off the top for maintenance, clicks back on easily too. Not to mention it’s light weight even full of water.

  • @DavidTucker85

I had to make this decision on my new 75g a few months ago. I just really like the design of the FX series. I find the maintenance very simple and also, given I can do it a little less often, just makes the experience a bit nicer.

Bentley, you've answered many of the questions I've had at the start of the video, Fluval is a great choice in aqua pump filters. Have you done a comprehensive critique on the brand, Coase? There's plenty for you to dig your teeth in upon review. I agree with you in this video, in fact I find it knowledgable, professional, in-depth. For that, I'm grateful. I hope you consider a review on Coase Filters. Many thanks! Pete

  • @willparsons32

Excellent comparison between the two Fluvals. I just think filter manufacturers - regardless of the brand name, should be a little more accurate with the GPH flow rate. Running an empty canister filter without the media installed is like saying that this glider plane soars at 300 mph BUT if you add a human to the equation, it'll only soar to a maximum speed of 240 mph.
