I prefer Velouria over Selkie (And I'm playing Birthright). Velouria's design is Little Red Riding Hood AND the Big Bad Wolf in ONE PACKAGE! THAT IS AWESOME!!
Personally, I more relate to Velouria, and I like both of them, but I prefer Selkie. She’s just so innocent and outgoing that I can’t help but love her.
Hooded Roxas I didn't like Selkie's voice. She sounded like she had asthma instead of being an energetic genki girl.
I prefer Velouria because a friend of mine said that she kinda acts like she could be an Aspie. (I like characters like that for various reasons I won't go into) plus her design is adorable. I played birthright too though so I never used her

If they decide to bring back child units in the next game, I think they should make it so that you play as them in a separate campaign. Imagine you beat the game as their parents, then you have the option to carry over the data to a new story that takes place years after the first game, where you play as the child units that inherit skills, stats, classes, ect. from their parents. However, the gameplay would also be more difficult, similar to Conquest, so that you have to carefully plan what traits to pass on.
FE4. It's been done right before, it can done right again!

I turned her into a Shield baby. That high 35 base skill+Hosidan Unity really just lets her tank with Pavise and Aegis. I also gave her Aether so she was proc'ing it at least once when she uses brave sword. If i _REALLY_ need her to tank, i swap out Aether with Armored Blow and give her renewal. She's my favorite unit and my best unit.
I married Laslow and Charlotte. I then promoted her to bow knight. Gave her crescent bow, replicate and galeforce. The I Wrecked shit.

Like forest she's really good when you know who she should and shouldn't be fighting.
I personally LOVE Kiragi as a character. I call him ham and cheese since his voice actor plays him so hamily and the character is just straight cheese. Love the kid. Especially when he screams "YAAAAAY" after brutally killing someone xD
I love Kiragi as well. He's my precious baby whom I love very much. And he's just so damn adorable! And there is this story I'm reading, well two stories to be exact, where Morgan and Kiragi are brothers. Yes, it sounds strange, I know but it's a crossover. A cool crossover that ships Takumi and female Robin. And it just works! Why can't we have a crossover other than Heroes, that let's us do something like that for real. Well, at least we can us our imagination to do stuff like that. And because of these stories I found randomly while browsing, I now really ship female Robin with Takumi. They are so cute together and Robin is a way better character then Corrin anyway. Kiragi is a precious cinnamon roll, that needs to be protected at all costs.

Out of the Awakening children clones, the only one I'm fine with is Asugi, since he seems the most different from his Awakening self, because of his expectations on how to be the next Saizo.The others can leave for all I care.
True. But honestly I hated Asugi's changed personality. Aside from his obvious love for candy, Gaius was still lovable because of how chill and laid back he was. I couldn't help but go "ayyyy it's the candy bro!" whenever he was on screen. Asugi and his rebellious teen attitude on the other hand made me go "Oh look it's that fuckboy who can't shut up about candy".
But you know... that's just me.
+Justplay1611 - I always liked all 3, Tharja not so much, but her serious moments (EG her supports with Nowi) make me respect her a bit more, so I wasn't bothered by the cloning. However, I think Caeldori should've had Mercenary as her Heart Seal reclass and Rhajat with Dark Mage. Asugi could have Samurai if he doesn't already, given Gaius getting Myrmidon I believe. If they're gonna clone the characters they might as well go all the way.
I saw those three as "less experience" version of their Awakening counterparts. I mean, Asugi and Caeldori clearly look like they haven't seen real shit in their lives like Gaius or Cordelia have or their traumas. Rhajat IMO is ALMOST the same thing except that her obsession with the Avatar is less prominent than Tharja and since she's a child unit you tend to forget easily about it (at least I did).
DJ Rarity I agree I mean while I did notice the similarities of the three awakening rip offs I was ok with Asugi because at least he had some kind of character arc.
Asugi, personality wise, is essentially a flanderized Gaius. Seriously, his candy obsession is multiplied ten fold from Gaius, it's pretty grating.
Aw, no Dwyer? I originally hated his character but his supports are just plain adorable. Also in my playthrough he was great as a strategist and he could do surprisingly good magic damage.
I love the Dwyer + Mitama supports. They practically argue over sleep

I made the mistake of waiting to recruit Shiro in Lunatic until post Chapter 25. That was absolute hell.

I couldn't bring myself to hate Corrin, because well, that's ME. I don't want to hate me, I like me, me is my fren. Also, I will now see Avel as Donkey from now on.
Hm, I prefer to see Corrin as their own seperate character rather than an avatar. And tbh, they're kind of bland and a little bit of a Mary Sue. I know I'm probably in the minority though. I personally really ship Corrin and Silas :)
I got the paralogue for Shiro at chapter 27 for Revelations. I couldn't get Shiro because his dumb ass kept attacking a level 20 hero and kept killing himself. As such, I can't get Shiro. Which I call bullshit on.
Rescue staves. Warping Azura. Some random stuff with the rescue command and pair up. Trust me, it is really really hard but you can do it!

Jacob Tietjen oh, sorry. In your next playthrough, marry Ryoma before chapter 19 (in Revelations this means you must marry him IMMEDIATELY after you get him. Just grind supports through scouting missions or the free Awakening DLC. This means the enemies won't be promoted, and Shiro will survive for enough turns for you to reach him.
Facts
The free Awakening DLC was the most cancerous map whenever you played Lunatic. Freaking Master Ninjas with both Poison strike and Savage Blow AND SWAP. 5 god damn ninja hits each with stacking def/res debuffs meant it was so difficult to clear once you got to the point of promoted units in the story.

In my experience Kana is one of the worse units in the game. The Yato is Corrin's strongest point and no matter who I marry Kana never really excels. Cute, but I definitely preferred Morgan.
..Also, Kiragi's personality was leagues better than Kana's (or maybe I just preferred his VA)
In my experience, The Blazing Yato is weaker than the base dragonstone...
it wasn't IS intention, that the children wielding the weapons of the Parents anyway. if you want to see them wearing the yatos, brynhildr ect., buy the dlc and see the children fighting a different path of revelation
Great list! Shigure is my personal favourite though since he’s kind, more open than his mother, surprisingly adorable at times, and is a great main character in Heirs of Fate. And fun fact, I have a younger Sophie
Great list! Here are my favorite children in Fates (excluding Kana).10-Midori. Interesting personality, and in my Birthright and Conquest files, I made her a Princess via Hinoka and Camilla respectively. 9- Percy. Adorable justice child. Enough said.8- Rhajat. Unlike most, I actually prefer the Awakening Clones over the originals. That being said I like Rhajat the best though. And that pink hair from Sakura though.7- Ophelia. I like her personality, I really do. And she's a Princess on Conquest (via Elise) and the daughter of a kunoichi on Revelations (via Kagero)6- Hisame. Read his supports with Ophelia, Rhajat, Caeldori, and M!Avatar or F!Avatar. 5- Dwyer. He has some of the best deadpan humor in the game. 4- Kiragi. He's like a combination of Henry and Cynthia. I especially like his supports with his father.3- Forrest. He is one of the people in this game I half feel sorry for (considering what happens in his paralogue and offscreen in some of his supports, and half praise because of how kind and strong willed he is.2- Shigure. He may look like a male Azura on the outside, but considering how much more social he is than his mother, and his aptitude in paintings, I found him to be quite enjoyable, and different from the rest of the cast enough to have very interesting interactions with other children and the Avatar. 1- Siegbert. The crown is certainly a heavy burden, and I feel like Siegbert captures this even more than his father does, constantly fretting over if he's worthy to rule over Nohr, and his attempts to try to understand other cultures different from his own. I especially like his conversations with both avatars, (since it's the same for both genders apart from the fact that F!Avatar gets an S.)Caeldori, and Velouria.

My Soleil was a BEAST in my lunatic conquest since I managed to marry Laslow with Femu with +skill and merc and I gave her my secret books and got her hoshidan unity and quioxic with another soleil I had and I got her Sol, Luna and Aether and she was one of my best units in the game (especialy in chapter 26).
I've been looking forward to this ever since I watched your best Hoshido and best Nohr videos!!!!!
I made Kana to be a tank in birthright, in conquest a glass cannon, and a mixture of both in Revelations. Love how you're able to pull this off thanks to the multiple stories. Allows me to explore each avenue I can possibly take her in.
Shigure was the only one of all the kids that i actually liked. Kinda surprised to see him not on the list.

Great list Crash. My favorite child unit is Ignatius. I can actually relate to him in about 90% of his personality (just not the fear of bugs). I made mine into a berserker with wary fighter, aether, deathblow and a brave axe and paired him up with the Corrin and he cant be stopped.

I have a theory that the "uninspired" children are actually there fates counterparts but taken back in time and placed in the world of Awakening. Kinda like how some of the child characters from Awakening where taken to Noir as main units.
This might bring me hate but I like Rhajat eww okay to be honest I hated her because the localization team ruined her for me. JP version of her, Shara is much better because they actually explained why she's identical to Tharja and her supports with the Female avatar is just cute.
Schrödinger's cat Rhajat was my favorite character in the game, she's great. I also loved Forrest and Nina.

Schrödinger's cat Sophie was pretty cool as well ^-^ I only ever use her on Birthright though. Forrest and Nina were without a doubt made for each other and their conversations were so cute and entertaining. I could happily enjoy a stand alone game starring just those two. Rhajat of course appeals to my love for the goth babe archetype. She was an awesome character to boot, not just hentai fodder.

It's probably just me, but I found the Awakening fan service characters in Fates to be better characters than the original Awakening characters.

Asugi hardly feels like a Gaius clone. Sure, they both like candy, but what else really? Asugi has the whole "Saizo" thing going on, plus he is a ninja not a theif. The other two are carbon copies, but I don't really care. Everyone makes such a huge fuss about it, they don't realize that even without those 3 characters Fates still has almost double the children of Awakening.

I reclassed a Hinoka!Forrest to a Grandmaster and he literally wrecked so much face it was incredible. I find that most of the 'subpar' kids are great with proper reclassing though
I like Caeldori if Severa is her mom, that way, it makes sense and they both have unique dialogue in her paralogue and support conversations

why is there so much Corrin bashing. I know he's not the best lord in the series but come on.
this isn't directed solely at this video rather most videos regarding Fates
because hes bland boring and dumb. Compare him to most lords and he fucking sucks. Like many of them develop and evolve over the course of the game and have human aspects to them. Corin is this marry sue blander than bread whos only personality traits are...naive and...fuck thats it isnt it.

Awesome video! The ouran hshc reference was amazing! Also it took me three blazing sword playthroughs to realize that Lucius was a guy so I don't blame you. The reasons for liking each character were also well thought out. Both selkie and velouria were godlike in my playthroughs. I also like Dwyer since he reminds me of L from death note. (It's the hair!) Forrest was another favourite of mine since he was a nuclear warhead the time I married Leo. Finally I love Solei because of her innocent and carefree attitude, her confession quote is adorable and she was a pretty decent unit. I liked how she didn't care what others thought of her.

I once did a play though of conquest with selkie and veloria ethenjar, and when they transformed, I always said, "double yokai trouble!"

Well the way they did it in Awakening and Fates could be considered dumb (I for one don't have a Problem with it since, well it's all Fiction anyway) But when it comes to Realism yeah not the right way to go about it I suppose...
What they could do for next time (maybe?...) Instead of Time travel and time warping dimensions, they could well do a Time jump cut?
For example all characters are aged around 20 to 40 or so then you are at chapter 20 where there will be a time of peace for 15 to 20 years or so and during that Time these Kids could normally grow up!
You could even give the Parent characters certain handicaps or Bonuses, for example Character A got a wound on his leg during the 20th chapter, then his speed got a little reduced and Character B continued training during this Time of Peace and got Stronger because of it?
Ofcourse these characters will need a makeover since well...... They got OLDERRRRRR!!!
Well this is just an Idea, it all depends on Intelligent Systems what they'll do with the next Game!
Pretty much what they did back in the mid 90's in Japan with Genealogy of the Holy War. I do agree that they should do something similar there ( also if we get a third time travel thing it'd be redundant.)
We can only hope that they will draw some inspiration from their Roots!
Then again Storywise It'd be hard to come up with a new Story and make it feel new I suppose...

If you really take a deep look at Kana, they are actually far more complex than they may seem. Kana has got to be without a doubt my favorite character in all of FE, of course its mostly because of personal bias and how much I can relate to her, but I feel like thats why IS makes every character so unique, its so that everyone can have one they relate to on a more-than-personal level.

Nice video! And thanks for keeping it spoiler free, since I've been deliberately avoiding to recruit child units so far because they make no sense in the main story.
That been said, I think they can still make a comeback. They only need to implement them organically into the story, rather than coming up with a lazy and moronic plot device to shoehorn them in. That means the story would need to span several decades and make the first generation characters to age. You know, like "Genealogy of the Holy War", except maybe a bit more streamlined.

They did make a off series in a dlc about them! It's really fun to play and I think it does give them a purpose in the game, and they're pretty cheap to get, if you want to expand more on the kids I'd play it I've only played three as of now but I've heard it's really good, and I believe it has a good plot for a dlc series!

for me personally my favorite is between either Siegbert or Sophie, I like mounted units quite a bit and cause of the way I do supports having Siegbert pick up Hinoka's classes is neat also Sophie is neat with her abilities.

***** Most of the skill threads I see were posted 3-5 months ago. It takes much longer to get an online match than you normally see. The only regular uploaders I'm seeing are Pheonixmaster1, Rasoli Plays, and BLAZINGKNIGHT.
I even understand it; you get the game, play through the three routes, maybe play some of the DLC, mess around with the online mode until you realize that you're outmatched because you don't have 200+ hours to grind or 40 spare dollars for the necessary DLC, and move on to other games. It's a singular experience that only the most devoted players will stick with for more than a few months, and those few months are up in North America.
JK Gamer people are still playing it for fun. Just as people are playing any other fire emblem game

While I'm sure that everyone thinks that the awakening children are better, I personally think that the DLC That focused on them in fates, Heirs of fate was far better, in fact, for the most part, better than the main story in some areas. I mean while future past has you bringing hope back to a hopeless world, by bringing your OP Please Nerf army to save them, Heirs of Fate your characters start off just after they lose their parents, and are forced to fight each other in an illusion and then finally have that illusion broken, and even then they still need a little extra kick to keep from fighting each other. the one who breaks that illusion turns out to be while well intentioned, using them so he can sacrifice himself to save them. They basically decide to say "screw that" and keep him from sacrificing himself at the cost of their memories, but they also have to fight the fathers that had sacrificed themselves to save them.
Let me call you out on that "Gangrel isn't complex" thing. His supports are really good, actually, and it's hinted that he really just played up the whole "Mad King" bit.
