In our first-ever #daughtersof Walk and Talk, Vanessa and Morgan will talk with Michelle Coltrane about the wisdom and self-care secrets her iconic mother Alice passed down to her and what her mother’s spiritual journey taught her about being her authentic self.
During this conversation, we will honor one of our greatest foremothers and spiritual teachers, Alice Coltrane, on her birthday weekend. Not only will Michelle share the enlightened wisdom her mother passed down to her, but she will also reflect on the legacy of her family and tell us what we can do to be a part of preserving her childhood home where her father, John, composed “A Love Supreme.” The home also housed Alice’s iconic recording studio in the basement, where Alice recorded four albums, and will be restored for use. The home was designated a Historical Landmark by the National Trust for Historic Preservation and is a cultural treasure that must be protected.

Black women die younger and at higher rates than any other group of women in the country: 82% of Black women are currently overweight, and 53% are morbidly obese (CDC, 2020).
