    I've met some of the KISS members more than once & can only speak of my own experiences. Never met Peter or Ace. Vinny Vincent was the nicest, most down to earth. Eric Carr was a total sweetheart. We all know Gene is an arrogant, sex-crazed, narcissist, but was always very friendly & approachable. Paul was a complete ass! We asked for his autograph & he acted as though we were bums asking for a handout! He was cold, rude, stand-offish, & downright horrible! I've hated him ever since!!

    Facts: KISS stayed at The Ritz-Carlton in San Juan Puerto Rico when I was part of the leadership in Loss Prevention. Gene was very laid back and glued to Shannon the whole time. Peter was very incognito and super low key. Ace was friendly and after the show was over instead of hitting the after party, he came straight back to the hotel in full make up. I met him at the entrance and escorted him to his room while taking his room service order and talking about his killer riffs on The Dynasty Album especially 2000 man. When I got him to his room he had me wait and came back out with a $100 bill and the pick he used at the concert! Now as for Paul. For someone talking about the others not understanding the finer things in life. Dude you were staying at The Ritz- Carlton. Walking around in the lobby with no shirt on is a no no for sure. I remember having to ask him on 3 different occasions to put on a shirt. Also, according to the Lobby Lounge waitresses, he was a poor tipper. No hate on Paul, but lets keep it real. I will say this, aside from the Paul no shirt incident, he was cool too. Way better than The Scorpions. Had to tell them that accosting the Housekeeping staff with sexual innuendos and offering the ladies money for sex is a real bad look and we came too close to throwing them out. There management made them apologize publicly. That is another story though....lol

    Saw Ace and Peter at a club (the Metron) in Harrisburg, PA. The most energetic Kiss show I've ever seen and I saw the Kiss reunion new years eve show in New Jersey. Peter played 100,000 years with his band among other classics, then later joined Ace to sing Strange Ways. Ace shuffled onto the stage, then ferociously darted to the crowd and laid into Parasite and played all of his smash hits. Smoking solo for shock me, and his pulsating lit Les Paul for New York Groove! Shows like that in '95 were what got Paul and Gene talking about a reunion tour.

I never really liked the 80s stuff, Animalize was ok but after that, stuff like Let's Put the X in Sex was very cheese, those kinds of songs allowed Grunge to take over the scene so easily. It's sad to see them all shitting on each other because they are my childhood heroes. If I go see a Kiss tribute band, I want to see the 70's stuff and that's all. Seeing the 70s style line up doing Heaven's on Fire is bad. Peter is/ was fucking awesome, ok so he's old now, that's how life works. I felt bad for Peter when they let Eric Carr sing Beth on Smashes Thrashes and Hits, that was really lame. Same thing with not letting Steven Adler into the GNR reunion tour, it's fucking bullshit because each of those guys were stand out characters that had a hand in making those bands become successful.

I never hear him be as harsh to himself as he is to others like he's some kind of flawless messiah. Seriously, Paul's lack of self awareness and culpability for his own rude, uncultured behavior is a huge reason why I'm not quite cozy with him. • @patrickdezenzio4988
    @patrickdezenzio4988 Před 6 lety +10

    There's a lot more we don't see or hear about. Peter never wanted the glam or glitz that came with KISS. If you told the band before they became famous that KISS would be the star attraction at concert venues in the late 70s, Peter probably would have walked out then. Not everyone wants that lifestyle. Peter didn't. Listen to his solo album, it's laid back. He wanted out after KISS got famous, but Gene and Paul wanted nothing of it. So what would you do if you got depressed? Drink right? Gene and Paul loved the limelight, reveled in it. But, they knew KISS wouldn't survive long if Peter/Ace left the band. That's probably when they decided to remove the makeup, to make it easier to make the changes after that. It was successful to some degree, but remember, to this day Beth is the best selling single of all of KISS' playlist and that pisses off both Gene and Paul. Beth started the Power Ballad movement for the next 20 years. To this day, Peter still did it the best.

      @LanceATL Před 6 lety +3

    • @patrickdezenzio4988
      @patrickdezenzio4988 Před 6 lety +1

      I based it on quotes of his before and after KISS. Keep in mind Peter and Ace were brought in based on ads Gene and Paul placed. Gene and Paul had always envisioned more than making music. Once it became apparent that KISS was going to earn more than the music (concerts and merchandising), Peter really started to see things differently. Really once KISS got so big they got their own movie, Gene and Paul started to see the band differently. Peter just wanted to play and record. Have a good time. Gene and Paul saw an empire with them on top. What most don't know is Gene and Paul saw themselves KISS with Peter and Ace as backup musicians. Gene and Paul were pissed when Ace had more success than either of them with his solo album. That moment is what caused the fracture in the band. Gene and Paul wanted to go one way and Peter didn't.

    • @LanceATL
      @LanceATL Před 6 lety

      Um, no. First off, Genes solo album charted the highest. Secondly, if it was all about the music for Ace and Peter, then why were they blowing off sessions and spending all their time doing anything but working? Both of them had unsuccessful solo careers and horrible reputations in the business for a reason.

    OK, people trigger their drums. That is not uncommon. Even Billy Cobham likes to be mic'ed up loud so he doesn't have to sacrifice his technique. The fastest metal drummers in the world usually use triggers. So I'm going to have to say Paul is a little ignorant about his craft in terms of drums. Peter was doing exactly what you do with triggers. You hit them hard enough but no harder. This allows you to have fluidity and speed. And yeah as you get old you're not as strong and you were. But in this situation strength has nothing to do with it. Once you trigger a drum that variable is removed.
