    This is a terrific video - thank you very much! I know there are so many rules, so just wanted to check if a (Co-Op) player gets a Command card back from defeating a Horde card. I think they get it back instead from building a Wall section (which you also did). Core rules: “Reclaim Command cards” step in the Summer is no longer present; players may Reclaim their Command cards only when building Walls. Again thanks and great job.

    I had some difficulties with the rulebook but your setup of the game cleared up many questions.
    I especially enjoyed your leeway on the rules. In the end it is all about the fun we have whilst gaming.
    Looking forward to my first play through this weekend.

    Nice play through. I noticed the Setup video was much brighter and easier to see the board than this darker version. Not sure if you changed the processing or the lighting, but I noticed it also with the On Mars play through. I do like the Setup video brightness much better.

    • @AntLabGames
      @AntLabGames  Před 3 lety +3

      This is really helpful, thank you. We actually lowered the ISO for this one because when we processed the first it looked too bright (especially the card text), but it could be our monitor, so this feedback is extremely helpful. The way the light on the board illuminates the game on the table changes depending on the key of the game (higher key/lighter games bouncing more light back, darker key games absorbing it) so it’s a constant battle haha You would think we could keep the lighting the same for every video, but in reality we move the lights and change settings to get the whole thing looking clear. Thank you again for watching!

    Didn’t realize you had posted a setup video…so I checked the description for a link and to my surprise it wasn’t there. Might be a good idea to add it, so we can link right over…not that going back to your page and looking all that hard, but feels like a missed opportunity is all. I will be back to watch this right after I watch that one!

    I’ve noticed you several times place more than one clerk in the same location, when working out the action cards. Is this an exception that this is allowed in coop?

    • @AntLabGames
      @AntLabGames  Před 2 lety +2

      You can absolutely have more than one clerk in the same location, but on certain command cards you can only move 2 clerks to 2 different locations in one command action. The expansions we played, and coop mode, did alter the rules somewhat but I don’t remember in each instance what cards we played in these cases.

    What about the core box only for 2 player coop? Worth getting your hands on?

    • @AntLabGames
      @AntLabGames  Před 3 lety +7

      Absolutely. It’s much more streamlined without the expansions and add ons, but the core box game I feel is accessible and packs a ton into an accessible price point (for the meeple version). If you are into minis and that changes the experience for you, you can spend the extra and get the mini version, so I appreciated with this being marketed as a euro, they didn’t require buyers to get minis. I don’t know what the plan is for retail (though I know it’s coming), but if they release the stretch goals with the core game you get the Genghis Khan expansion which is extremely punishing and changes the game in an even different way. I would say probably don’t go nuts and buy all the expansions right away. This is one you will be challenged enough with the base, then explore the expansions once you understand how the game works and how you like to play it (where you feel you could use a challenge). - Frances

    Hey guys. Another great Video which helped me to clearify some remaining rule uncertenties. But I got one question. As soon as you defeaded a horde card you get the reward points for having a unit there and for having an archer in this row. But why do you get the points listed on the cards? Aren´t they usually earned at the end of the game when there is no shame token on them? Is this a coop rules I overlooked? Thanks

    • @garryjackson5235
      @garryjackson5235 Před 2 lety

      Hi just to add I also think you did the Raid incorrectly around year 3, i think you tried to place the hoard card based on the symbol on that card and not the one on top of the hoard deck, whch was a clear hoard space.
      Great playthrough and fun to watch
      Thanks

    - Great suggestion to watch the set-up video 1st. Not only was it a fantastic watch, it was wicked helpful.
    - This game is so impressive on the table. I was saddened when I found this that it was already passed the Kickstarter, and well passed at that. Looking forward to finding a copy myself with the expansions and getting this to the table!!
    - The amt of table talk between you two is great. Going through the strategy of each turn and talking through what you’re each going to be doing is a really interesting to see the why and how you’re handling the challenges.
    - Completely agree with you on event cards in Co-Op/Solo games. Most of the time they tend to just muddy up the puzzle(I.E. more resource cost for x action) instead of actually adding value and experience to the game. They usually feel forced as opposed to a natural part of or progression of the game.
    - Sometimes people do a review and tell us how much they like a game but their words or body language don’t give off that impression. It is obvious you two actually enjoyed this game!! Love to see it!!
    This is definitely a game I will be looking to pick up a copy of!! great playthrough and set up video!!

    Theme and artwork should be designed to make the rules (however complex) intuitive and memorable. E.g.: if you're doing something abstract like set collection and the theme is baking pizza, it would be obvious that adding pineapple scores you negative points.

    • @AntLabGames
      @AntLabGames  Před 3 lety

      Frances here, I completely agree. In a game this modular I can see it would be difficult, but one of my criticisms was that there is no coop player aid, which would have been immensely helpful. If pineapple pizza were a component in this epic tale, I would drain the shame pool in about a round 😂 🙈

    I haven’t watched the whole video yet but wish you did close up shots of the left side of the board. It’s too hard to see what all the spots do from the top zoomed out shot.

    • @AntLabGames
      @AntLabGames  Před 3 lety +1

      We do close ups of the left side. Not a ton, but you will see them soon enough. We also do a lot of close ups in the Setup and Overview video so once you know each area, the only thing worth noting is the available clerk spots.

    Fine video 👍
    The game really looks good, gameplay is boring, slow and it feels like the game is trying to include to many ideas making it a big handfull With many rules and to much to teach New players and keep track of during setup.
    Again great video, but the game is a pass, I sold my pledge halfway during development of the game.
