    would love to see an "open source" golf launch monitor come out and help lower the costs of subscription fees and addon fees etc from the big guys. Its only a matter of time before someone releases an affordable unit with open source software and community involvement.

    Great video, Sean.
    One of the other historical downsides with the Rapsodo was the need to purchase the RPT balls to get spin axis, and they are crazy expensive for most people (especially those overseas). They also limit the user to using Chrome Soft X golf balls, which isn't ideal if you want to test suitability of golf balls, or get your specs and you are typically a user of another ball.
    However, the introduction of Rapsodo Ball Dot stickers allows you to add the patterns to any golf ball and is MUCH more affordable. This has been a big win for Rapsodo users.
    Also, as someone living in Australia, I want to know where you rate Royal Melbourne and New South Wales on your Top 100 now that you have experienced them! Don't make us wait until you re-release your Top 100 in December!
    Cheers,
    Graeme

    Really wrestling with going with the Skytrak+ or the Bushnell Launch Pro. I like some of the of the things like the club matrix with the Skytrak+ but based on what I've read/seen, while both are extremely accurate, the Bushnell seems to be better on putts and high loft irons. I will primarily be using this monitor for practice and simulation in doors, but the ability to use it outdoors is appealing! Your thoughts/recommendations?

    Good review of the products. I recently bought the Rapsodo MLM Pro2 but have not unboxed it. I have been too busy with work. It has everything I need and too much info like face impact is too technical for a weekend player. I’m not going pro at 63. I’m only a projector purchase from a simulator space. Do you have a projector review video?

  • @breeze787
    @breeze787 Před 11 měsíci +3

    I recently purchased the PRGR Launch Monitor $229. Its quite accurate radar based you can check all of the CZcams videos on its operation and appeal. The simplicity and its compactness makes this PRGR my pocket launch monitor. And by pocket monitor I mean it fits in your pocket.Turn it on select your club set it behind the ball and receive Club head speed, Ball speed, Smash factor Carry and Total distance with a very intuitive 4 key board control. In the house while practicing my swing I can place it behind where the ball would go, swing and get the club speed only without actually having to hit a ball. It also has a setting for measuring ball speed for baseball and soccer.
    For the under $300 best of launch monitors I give it to the PRGR. And just as recent a golf buddy just bought a PRGR 10.5° driver and 15° 3 wood. PRGR is a Japanese sports golf manufacturer that I never heard of till late more popular in Europe that makes a very decent launch monitor for cheap.

    Incredibly helpful video! Thank you for taking the time to create this roundup. If I'm needing club data to help me try to dial in my high handicap swing, which unit(s) would you steer me towards? If that doesn't help narrow it down enough, my second most requested feature would be to easily see a replay of my swing so I can pinpoint what I'm doing wrong.
    I was leaning towards the MLM 2 Pro for the impact camera, but it seems like it might be a little too zoomed in to help my use case. I also heard it takes a long time for the replay to be viewable, at least on early release models. Perhaps they've since patched it? The MLM's consumer level of data offerings also gives me pause. The Mevo Plus was another alternative that caught my eye 6 months ago, but am curious if something else has released or is on the horizon that would be worth waiting for.
    A few other variables - will be mostly used outside on a covered porch. I will have access to a TV and gaming PC, if needed. Simulator/virtual golf isn't a big selling point & I'd rather have more data. Looking for an option for under $1000-$1500 or maybe something that ticks all of the boxes for under $2000-$2500, if possible.
    Thanks!

    • @breakingeighty
      @breakingeighty  Před rokem

      Yeah in my experience the impact camera really does very little in terms of helping you review single details. It's really there to allow the MLM2PRO to track the RPT balls for accurate spin data. That said, it does a very good job of allowing you to easily review your swings after every shot. It does so automatically, and is probably my favorite launch monitor for that specific purpose.
      I'd personally probably go for the Mevo Plus, despite the higher price. It does such a good job of allowing you to customize data and how it's displayed, plus it's the most versatile for getting even more data, expanding into more simulator offerings etc. It's also what I'd say, the most professional of the consumer level offerings, most from a software and hardware perspective. And it also does a good job of allowing you to replay video, as well as use multiple cameras if that's something you're into.
      Either way though, both are excellent devices for what they are, and I think you'll be happy with whichever one you go for.

    Thank you for the very interesting report! My question: when comparing your overall winner, the Flightscope, with one of the very-high-cost-monitors, e.g., Trackman, what is still in favour of Trackman? In case there remains nothing, then the Trackman industry (and other comparable expensive companies) will not survive the next few years.

    Mlm2pro not having face to path is a deal breaker and why I haven’t traded my R10. I’ve had the R10 since launch and after updates over the years, it’s gotten pretty good. the casual golfer looking to improve out to in swing path, gap irons, and play as a sim really doesn’t need anything else.

      My advice would be to sign up to the flightscope mailing list and wait till near a big event, I have had a mevo+ for about 18 months and there are multiple emails a year with discount offers. Mostly around majors, Father’s Day, thanksgiving, Christmas etc. if you are able to wait a few weeks there will generally be a sale on at some point. I get emails probably every 4-8 weeks on average with sales.

    • @breakingeighty
      @breakingeighty  Před rokem

      Yeah agree with what the person below says. If I had to guess, there will be another big sale around the Open Championship in a few weeks, and then possibly around Labor Day. But if you're looking to guarantee you get it at the lowest price possible, you might pick it up a bit sooner during the next sale. If there were to ever be a lull in sales (which I don't expect to happen, but certainly could) it'd be between the Open and Black Friday.

    Thanks for the great video, I’m looking for a launch monitor to use at the golf nets at my course for a pre round warm up. Ideally, I’d like to know how far the ball is going and the shot shape. Other information like spin etc would be nice to have. My main issue is set up - it needs to be set up close to the ball, ideally side on and not from behind and the ball flight is only 2 meters till it hits the net. I also want the unit to be small enough to pop in my bag
    Any recommendations based on those requirements?

    Did you test any of the Uneekor options? Should have a pick for best device for LH/RH players. While you can argue the mevo+ can do it, it sucks for chipping and putting and you need tons of space. The overhead units from Uneekor (and the expensive Hawk from Foresight) would be options for that category.

    Question for a non-tech person
    With the BLP if I get a gaming PC to do simulator do I have to have a full setup with projector and screen and all that? Or can I just hit into a net and look over at the gaming laptop see the course and game that way?

      I'm also on the fence. The only thing that Rapsodo has going for me is the shot tracer. That's just such a usual tool.
      That being said, i'll be using mine in the backyard 95% of the time (perks of commie So Cal), so the shot tracer won't work.
      With the R10, the club data alone tips the scales for me. I'd just get the right ball and play the free sim courses and buy the monthly whenever i want it.
      Honestly, none of these budget monitors will give us real-world numbers. Heck, hitting range balls is so far from real-world and always will be. Crappy balls.
      What i want is a monitor that is accurate relative to the desired shot and shape i'm hitting. If it shows me a launch angle of 20* and i hit a knock-down on the next, i'd like to see that shown. Say 15 or so. I don't care about its comparison with the Bushnell...
