No tricks, no heavy reliance on postproduction. Its his compositions and ability to recognize the humanity in a situation that makes him a master - not his lenses, not his gear. A true legend.
And hard work. He never stops working.

Well, this comment hasn't aged well.

Lmao Steven picking up the kid by the shirt 🤣 what a legend!
Steve McCurry is my god , is he your's too ? I'm mesmerized by every word he says and there is so much depth in his talk on photography , so much to learn , he is an endless ocean of knowledge and what a visionary , what he sees with his two trained eyes i guess it will take a long long time to emulate. His passion for his work is something to look upto. If ever there were a Noble prize in photography there is none more suitable. my salutations to a living legend. Its a dream to work under such a man.
+Manish Dhareshwar I think you are also missing a whole bunch of other photographers - Sebastiao Salgado, Henri Cartier, Joseph Koudleka, Robert Capa, Marry Ellen, Fan ho, Rene Burri, Seymour, Tim hetherington, Marcus Bleasdale to name few as a contender of Nobel Price.
+Raj Barry agree and would also like to add Vivian Maier who works were discovered in 2007. They are the our gurus /masters too.

most people don't have the means to travel to impoverished countries to take photographs.
neither did he when he started he was broke completely
he had the determination to express himself in the photographic medium
stop making excuses please
Following your photoshop passion Steve McCurry is a disgrace for the photography world
I agree I used to look up to him but now only look to myself. He painted India as a magical land. When I arrived there it wasn't magical at all.
