The composer of this soundtrack is Masahiro Andoh, the guitarist of this band.
T-Square also composed the song, Truth, which was a 1980s theme song for Formula One. Absolute banger.

In Europe the release date was 1 year after... a friend of mine gave me the japanese version...OMG, the song , the atmosphere... unbelievable....no futher car game gave me that feeling!

I first heard Mr. 4WD in Gran Turismo 4, had no idea it was there right at the first game (or at least a different version of the tune).
14 people wished Forza Motorsport had a great sound track like this.
First thing to do on a Forza Motorsport game : turn off the music both in the menus and the race given that is so horrible compared to Gran Turismo.
Maybe nowadays, but FM3 and FM4 had great menu soundtracks
Y e e t juice during FM3 and FM4 days Forza was actually a good and surprising challenger of Gran Turismo. But since the Xbox One era started with FM5 the good are still good but the franchise became a money wasting on DLC packs with little few improvements or only one new track per game. And i won’t talk about the Lego DLC on FH4...

Only decided to play the Japanese version of this game in 2022 & dang, what a soundtrack!
I was lucky enough to have the PAL version in 1998 & I still love that version, mainly for Feeder & Sweet 16 but, I do enjoy the Japanese rock and jazz songs here! Something just pure about them and I like the renditions from this version as opposed to the remakes featured in later GT games!

This must be music from Japanese wersion , PAL music was different.

I hate japanese song of GT1 because are too much relaxing, jason page (Sound composer and director of sound of SCEE) make electronica sound. Exciting, meanacing and serious. For me (IMHO) the best song are PAL/NTSC-U

I know what you mean. my guess is that the reason that Japanese have something that is called passion and living with that passion. unlike the west which is all about $$$. but i love both soundtracks anyways.
