    This is, hands down, the most concise and easy to apply instruction on a thumb release I've ever seen. Now I don't know shit, so take that for what it's worth lol

      Thanks, Dave. I'm glad it connected with you. The key is applying and staying true to the technique shot after shot. When you do, you'll shoot as good as you've ever shot! Good luck!

    I put mini Zip ties on the barrel, clip the ends off then I index the high points of the zip ties on the crease on my thumb. This Gives you and incredibly consistent draw and thumb position.

    That was the best training aid for a thumb I’ve seen. Shot a index/wrist release for 30 yrs. Trying now for a thumb release. Seems very awkward with the palm outward and hand upside down. Very strange position. I’m still learning to relearn in my mind.

  • @timbow50
    @timbow50 Před 3 měsíci

    For me going to a thumb was a good change. After you finally find the best sweet spot adjustment for the thumb position you won’t believe how easy it is to break a smooth controlled shot. We are talking hundreds and hundreds of shots just to get the right setup and feel. It’s a process to ingrain the routine into your brain. Then the shot break will be like 99% automatic. Because your mind and vision will be focused on the target spot. You will basically automatically began to pull and as the pin settles into its smallest float the shot will break. It’s the easiest most controlled shots you will ever make. YOU WILL NEVER NEED TO PUNCH THE KNOB AGAIN!

    Thank you so much for all of the education that you have provided to all of us. I struggled so much with “punching the trigger” with my thumb button that I switched to a tension release which I love.
    After watching this video I can’t wait to get home to try this technique.

    I just want to say thank you so much for all your free coaching. I had target panic so bad I would yank the bow and miss the whole target. You taught me to focus on every step.. Feet, grip, shoulder, anchor, peep, and execute the shot. For myself I even added an extra step which is posture. I noticed for some reason I would lean. I learned trigger control with the Back Strap release and now I've graduated to a thumb button release with no issues. My shooting is so much better because of your videos. I'm calm at full draw now and most importantly I enjoy shooting again and I can't wait to shoot any chance I get !!

    I just purchased a decent thumb release after only using a pointer finger double hinge for the past 12 years. Love the feel of it. Having trouble finding a solid anchor point that is consistent. I am also slightly concerned about string twist. With the thumb release I need to have the release at a 45 degree angle so my thumb gets under my chin, but when I do that it slightly twists the d loop. Do I need to get a new d loop? Maybe slightly longer so the twist doesn't effect the string as much? Any help appreciated!

  • @todd_2692

    Any one have experience with the B3 exit pro? It’s my first thumb release and curious what others think of it. I feel it’s hard to get setup just right and the barrel is small making you have to pull super hard and I’m shaky before it goes off. I’ve adjusted it every which way over the 1.5 years I’ve been experimenting with it vs my trigger release.

    Is there any problem with slightly twisting the d loop so the thumb button doesn’t hit my cheek? My thumb release is made to orient horizontally but I run into issues with nowhere to put my thumb unless I rotate my palm outwards thus twisting the d loop

    queston: so when you pull back, are you pulling with the top fingers and leaving your thumb static? or are you pulling back with the thumb also . so like the whole hand moves slowly back? i ask cause im trying to understand how it activates the trigger? but if you are rocking the release as you pull it i think i got it. i seems to make both ways fire.
