I think if you were not disappointed by Yum Pistachio, you might not be disappointed in Rock Candy either. Neither are bad fragrances, but I think they are confusing.
I admire the marketing strategy of Kayali because they make everything sound like a dream, and I'm always excited for their releases, but I have to admit I am usually let down.
I was expecting sweet sugary candy, gummy bears, bubble gum, subtle sweet florals, cut with refreshing aquatic pear, creamy vanilla base. A swirling pink candy cloud.
What I feel like I got was a burst of near minty/medicinal bubblegum immediately after spraying, but quick turn to a sharp and pungent musk and patchouli.
I was glad for the poor lasting power because I didn't want that drydown to stick around for any amount of time.
I feel like the type of people that are looking for bubble gum marshmallow gummy bear (as the fragrance was marketed) are not looking for heavy musky scents, and especially not heavy patchouli.
So I think this scent is similar to other Kayali scents - no denying they have their own brand vibe - but I wish it matched more with the marketing.
In the way that Yum Pistachio was marketed as a rich and creamy nutty vanilla ice cream scent and we all got cold lemon drier sheets, Rock Candy is along the same lines of confusing marketing which is a disappointment to me.
I agree so much. I like yum pistachio but you could ask four different people what they smell and they will smell completely different things. I smell mostly rum and hazelnut. I asked a woman at work she said it smells like flowers lol. I agree I’ve been disappointed with most kayali. Their marketing really gets you but I’m not falling for it anymore. What’s your favorite brand??
I actually really love PY…it was giving airy yet creamy and floral but “leaning” gourmand I knew by notes it wasn’t going to be full gourmand…my only issue is performance with her and after being let down time and time again? I hope middle eastern houses start duping her more and more and more and the commercials are cheesy!! ….jm not dancing around in lilac OVER spraying my bottle with three of my friends also in lilac spraying their bottle !?? It’s so dumb and dorky and cheap looking 😅

I agree with this. I like PY but it’s not what it was marketed as. I blind bought vanilla candy but then smelled in store and def will be returning. I was not wowed. I love Mona’s work but this wasn’t for me.

I’m a dude and I’m in love with Vanilla Rock Candy! It’s probably cuz I just love sugary, gourmand scents. Idk, it’s getting a lot of hate, but I LOVE it!!! It’s definitely making me smell like a snack! 😋 haha
vanilla candy has two very distinct personalities, the opening is absolute, confectionery perfection, girly, fun and within 10 minutes this perfume transforms into a cool weather, cozy, enveloping, warm scent. Both are beautiful, but I wanted the beginning part of this perfume to stay throughout exactly as it is … i think I’m gonna keep it for the fall since the dry down happens pretty quickly for me with this scent and I’m left with that very warm, cosy type perfume that would be lovely in the fall but suffocating in warm weather.
Does it smell a lot like patchouli? Does it settle with that scent?

I love both of what you’re describing *but* this one stank on my skin something horrible. I wanted to wash it off, and believe me I love so many different kinds of perfume - I don’t own any niche, and half my stuff is from TJ Maxx(The Good Scent, Tru Fragrance no names, etc). I have no idea what I was smelling that I didn’t like, which is not helpful, because I’m not good at picking out exact notes, but I’m getting better. Sad but it saved me money.
agreed. Just got my travel size and the dry down is a lot warmer than I thought. I was hoping for a more affordable LDBS. STILL like it tho!

I finally learned to go to the store. And smell these things before I buy them. Especially Kayali. On paper it was great. I smelled bubble gum. I smelled candy. It was delicious. Put 3 sprays on my arm. And got no bubble gum. Just got a sweet scent that wasn't really reminding me of anything. Wasn't all that great and within 20 minutes it was gone. Glad I didn't waste my money
I wish I liked more of the Ellis Brooklyn scents than I actually do because the bottles are STUNNING.

I got my Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar today! I haven’t tried it yet. We shall see. I really love Miami Nectar though. It’s cocktails on a hotel roof top lounge in Miami South Beach.

I’m the same way! I don’t like tropical/sunscreen scents in general, and they smell cheap on me, too.

Oooo girl I LOVE the Huda Easy Bake! The opening is meh, but the full deep dry down is where it shines! The coconut, vanilla and amber come out and it feels like a soft tropical scent. Lasting power is a BEAST on clothes too!

The new Kayali definitely has a minty medicinal smell in it. I just got it today and I’m undecided on if I like it.
It kind of reminds me of the throat numbing spray you can use for a sore throat. 🤷♀️
I have a squishmallow, too! I love mine. And, not only is he on my couch with me but he also goes to bed with me! I’m 52. And, I can admit I have to fall asleep with him. Idk why!!! My daughter bought him for me.
I got the phlur body mist. What is it-moonstone? The purple bottle. I wear it at night after my shower. I think I’d rather the vanilla skin and will get it.
And, I think I’ll get the salt petals because I love wood sage & sea salt. ❤ xo

I blind ordered a travel size of the Vanilla Rock, and I’m relieved to hear more good things about it. I’m not typically a sweet scent person, but this sounds like a pleasant change. You’ve also given me ideas for what I can mix it with, if I need/want to pull it in a slightly different direction.

I just bought a full bottle of Miami Nectar yesterday. Totally not at all my usual type of scent, but I’m transitioning from wearing one perfume all year long to having more variety and wanted something seasonal. This one is so fun for summer and I agree that the dry down is more interesting than you’d expect based on the initial spray.

I have ordered the Kayali vanilla rock sugar candy too in a 50ml bottle without smelling it 😂 the notes got me sold. The pistachio one is my favorite go to scent at the moment although my favorite Kayali fragrance has always been the vanilla 28 which I have a full size of ❤ I’m super excited for this new release, can’t wait.
That eyeshadow is very flattering on you. I wish Clean Reserve had enough longevity on me 😭 Salt Petals also had a short life span on me. I'm curious about Mix:Bar Bourbon Vanilla. The hair perfume spray is delish!

Thanks to this video I picked up the Ouai St Barts body spray this afternoon. Like you, I am a huge fan of the body scrub. The body spray is amazing. Perfect summer vibe. I ordered "Vacation" a month or so ago, and I think the Ouai mist is actually better. Thanks for helping me get my summer groove on! And thanks for the reminder that we don't need to purchase everything all the time. (though I did rush out to get this one).

I was checking out the two new mix:bar perfumes at Target and the display said that Salt Petals and Passionfruit Nectar were designed to be layered. I definitely prefer Salt Petals when layered with Passionfruit Nectar. Maybe give it a try? :)
I got a sample of Poets of Berlin, and I am SO in love 🤤 also got to smell tart deco from snif recently, and something about it seems very spring-summery to me 🌞

The Phlur body mists smell super similar to me. Had I not blind bought them I would have probably just bought one. Love Miami Nectar and Ouai St Barts spray…I layered them one day and they smelled great together too.
I’m so mixed on the new Kayali! I went to Sephora to smell it the day it launched and I couldn’t pull the trigger on buying it… So creamy and powdery. Ugh, not sure.

The longevity isn't really there. People want the gourmand bubblegum note to linger but it really doesn't. It's nice layered with Deja vu white flower but wouldn't recommend it

Miami nectar is the first bottle I bought from Ellis Brooklyn. I was never impressed with their fragrances and I sampled this a few days ago and it was an immediate throw it in the bag.

When I saw your eye shadow, I knew you liked Rock Candy! 😁 Just got mine today, along with a full size Vanilla 28 (it's a fav). The dry down of the Rock Candy is very grown up. The patchouli really plays nicely with the sweetness. But one has to like patchouli, I think, to get along with Rock Candy. (Even though it is mild.)

The new Phlur mists beware! Please try in store because especially the purple one smelled super cheap to me, burned my nose. I returned both after a blind buy sadly. I actually love the vanilla skin and amber haze ones though.

Vanilla skin was a win. I bought the biggest bottle they had. No hesitation. I never spend that kind of money on a body spray ever. The only ones i buy is sol de Janeiro. But yea i bought rhe biggest one they had& it was the last one too

Phlur "dragon fruit" body spray is awful.. smells like it should be $10 not $30. The Ellis Brooklyn body mists are waaaay better 😊

@@stephanytaylor810 they both have a summer/vacation vibe but in different ways. Ouai is like a fruity beverage on the beach and Miami nectar still has the fruitiness but it’s warmer and creamer. Almost like vacation daytime vs. vacation nighttime or something. That’s just what I get but I always hear people describe things so differently from what I smell on me 🤷🏻♀️

There is so many mixed reviews on the new Kayali vanilla candy rock sugar! Some say they get the sweet bubblegum vanilla jellybeans and then others say it smells nothing like that so I did order the travel size because I was scared to chance it lol I will have my nose on it Monday!!! ❤ I hope it does smell sweet and bubblegum and jellybeans goodness lol

I think Salt Petals is my favorite salt perfume. I like it much more than Ellis Brooklyn or Skylar.
VCRS definitely is a candied version of V28 smells like Teriaq Lattafa to me in the dry down spicy & Brooklyn Ellis I wanted to love it doesn’t last on my skin I definitely want Sunlit Blooms Dedcool for this summer though & definitely want to get into the St. Barts line to layer with this summer

I wish I smelled the bubble gum but I do smell La Belle in it. I’m totally loving it. It’s so yummy and sweet. I’m such a fan of Kayali.
I tried the new tiger Lily flower bomb in ulta. Overwhelming gross white florals on my skin. I have the same issue with JHAG Lust for Sun which was worse if I remember correctly. Definitely beginning to think that kind of tropical coconut & white florals thing can just smell like garbage on me. Interested in the new Ellis Brooklyn, but definitely need to do a skin test before buying. I would be happy to smell a sophisticated Pina colada. The nest balinese coconut is nice and doesn't go overly floral on me, but the coconut is not super strong either. I assume the coconut is more of a top note strength smell, and that's why it is never as strong as I'd like it to be.
I purchase a bubble gum bbw spray to mix it with this new kayali
The bubble gum is only on the comes out I wish it will stay like the come out
It does have vanilla 28 and I am not crazy about it
