I just learned more about the javelin in 8 minutes than I have in the last 28 years of following track and field! Great work!!!
One minute in I had to stop it. Too much blaaablaaaablaaaa. Not getting to the point of the video. I have a short attention span and little time to sit around watching this kinda crap.
I like your appreciation of the channel but you must have been drunk for 28 years to not know absolutely basic things and top headlines despite following tracks.
No offense sir
RIGHT ?!?!?!?!?! I have never in my life taken even a second thought about 'Le Javelin' ... I feel like now I could focus a short novel. LOL
I would say the same if it were not for having watched a random CZcams video late one night (i'm an insomniac) on his coach Uwe Hohn. He set the world record throw of 104.8 meters in 1984 (almost threw it out of the stadium), thus causing the change to the javelin to fly less far for safety reasons. I'd love to see how far this new breed of javelin throwers could throw the old javelin.

To be clear about his Coaching history over the period that you are talking about…. Initially Neeraj was coached to World Junior success by Australian Gary Calvert, who suddenly and sadly passed away in 2018. Uve Hohn took over in 2017, but actually Neeraj has been coached to his Olympic success by legendary Biomechanics expert and coach, Dr Klaus Bartonietz. Having had the privilege of watch them work together in recent months, I am expecting great things from them in 2023.
Awesome info! Thank you.
Him having this coaching as he does really make me feel he will be pushing 100m in no time and we may see a redesign again.
How do these connections how do these arrangements come to pass with coaches and athletes from different sides of the world working together?
@@serronserron1320 when a special talent emerges from perhaps a country that does not have a good coaching infrastructure, the federation if they are smart will look for an established coach from another country to develop that talent.
Hopefully this will also give the opportunity to help educate the local coaches.
There is a small number of what are called "serial podium coaches" in an event that have a track record of deliverimg medals in that event.
@@Shaun_Pickering In his later years do you think that this Indian will become a coach and train a new generation like his olympic predecessors?
We indians 🤣🤣 just he just doing his athletes stuff but mom and dad won't leave him if he doesn't do his math homework.
Just here to announce that in 2023, Neeraj Chopra became World Champion🏅
Thanks for covering this Indian athlete representing a sport other than cricket in my country. Cricket and its stardom overshadows achievements of other athletes, who equally deserve respect and honor. Appreciate your efforts.
I would expect his fame will show in the next ten years with Indian track and field athletes getting further golds. India has a massive number of potentially elite athletes just needing some support.
Don't worry Indian cricket will destroy itself with IPL. The only reason cricket is popular is because it is the sport we have the best shot at winning something in an international competition. Same was the case with hockey before this. If that goes away with players only focusing on money and IPL, some other sport will take center-stage.
u just spoken my mind !
He deserves better than those overrated, overpaid cricketers!
@@GMPranav That's a big YUP! The huge money in IPL f.ed cricket up! The athletes have become way too lazy.
Neeraj Chopra just won gold medal at world athletics championship 2023 with a big throw of 88.17m in finals
Neeraj just won gold medal in Asian Games 2023 with massive throw of 88.88m
I recall being at the 1976 Olympics in Montreal when Miklos Nemeth threw a world record 94.58 meters. There were numerous athletic events going on at the same time when all of a sudden the whole crowd in the Olympic stadium saw this Javelin magically floating threw the air. There was a pronounced collective gasp that echoed throughout the Big O. The throw was that much further than everybody elses.
What a moment. Thanks for sharing!
So proud that an Indian athlete is being talked about on this channel
Picked the right sport to gold medal in too
Why do these comments look so disgusting?
I am an Indian too, I am proud af for Neeraj but there's nothing really special if he got featured on a CZcams channel no matter how big it is. Yeah it's cool, people get to know your boy better but it's nothing to be proud of. This channel ain't Arjuna award or Khel Ratna or Ballon D'or or Oscar prize set damn it!

I wish Chopra will eventually make it. Jan Železný was GOAT. Of 20th century, as well as Uwe Hohn. But we need someone with incredible throw, and I believe Chopra can lift this gauntlet and make it. No record shines forever. And I am writing this as a Czech, who witnessed Železný's throws live, though late in his career.
I've seen a video some time ago, where Železný in his late 40's/early 50's threw javelin casually, in a training. He threw it over 70 meters, just like that. Someone walk his dog and throw his dog a stick. Someone throws his stick 70 meters far...
Good luck to Chopra!
Being Indian , hearing your kind words for our sports star Neeraj Chopra is heart warming.
I think Anderson Peters has much more potential than Neeraj Chopra.
Perhaps I am mis-understanding you but what do you mean: " I wish Chopra will eventually make it"? He is world junior champion. He won the diamond league yearly competition. He won commonwealth games. He won Asian Games. He won the Olympic GOLD MEDAL. He was hurt yet he finished second in World Championship. What is left for him to do to "Make it"???

Damn, imagine how much further he could do with meat and dairy
He does eat non veg now. I think he said he eats chicken and stuff because he needs protein.
He's practicing in isolation. We here in 🇮🇳 haven't been hearing much about him.
I get the feeling that he'll do a 92+ in the upcoming season.
He has completed Javelin now. He is the WORLD CHAMPION!
It is amazing how close he is getting to out throwing the field like his coach in 84.
He is defiantly a force to be reckoned with. If he keeps on like this, we will see the Javelin remade again when he breaks 100.
And I have a feeling he will get there with consistently throwing near 90m.

According to Wikipedia you're right.
They say Hohn started as Chopra's coach in 2018 and Bartonietz took over in 2021, before that he was listed as "biomechanics expert".
Lets not add more pressure by overhyping him, just wish that he gives his best throws while being free from possible injuries. Don't forget about Thomas Alan Petranoff who hit a 99.72 m (327 ft) and a personal best with the new implement javelin is 89.16 m (292.5 ft)
Over the years, javelin has got heavier and heavier, so to mark anything around 100m mark is now next to impossible.

Awesome video! Next javelin season will be legendary, when Chopra, Peters and the guy who wasn't covered in this video, Johannes Vetter with PB of 97.76 m back in 2020, will return health and they all will compete against each other in their prime!

He started as a 200 pound 12 year old who went to the gym by the bus on his allowance. His trainer found his javelin talent 6 months in.
The way he throws is so beautiful
Go India. Best of luck in Paris '24.
Finally Neeraj Chopra getting the respect he deserves!
And getting his surname butchered 🥲
Vetter is this generations best thrower simply because of his build and speed. Although inconsistent but he will surely smash few more records. Chopra is good in terms of consistency but his built limits his overall strength, thats why he is yet to cross 90m and hopefully he crosses one day. My bet is on vetter/peters
Chopra won the GOLD in World Championship :) Legend in making
I wanna see a version of this sport where the athletes are allowed to produce their own speer and have a whole team of engineers behind them kinda like F1, imagine seeing a human throw a speer over 200 meters
That would be incredible!
I almost cried when he got the gold medal. I'm a redneck in Texas but I was so happy to see India get a gold medal. It meant so much to me, I can only imagine what it meant to India.
You are an empathetic human and an athletics lover I see . I would love to see American athletics infra in schools and colleges in India . You have by far the world's best athletics program
The good thing about the redesign is that alignment of the javelin doesn't matter as much as it basically will always pitch down given enough flight time
The speed of the javelin on release matters much more which is why his technique of stretching back before release allows for more distance for acceleration.
I used to do javelin in Singapore at under 16s and my PB was 50m and for a smaller(172cm) thrower like myself my coach and I developed all kinds of tricks.
When these tricks were then taught to my tall juniors(180cm) they proceeded to wreck my PB easily throwing consistent over 50s.
I'm bitter but javelin is still a height game in the end.
True, as many sports are. It’s the whip of the body which is simply greater the taller you are, although power can make up some of that. At least you know you performed tot he best you could and no one your height would’ve done better
@@TheBaumcm I can't claim that noone could have done it better, but like all of athletics you are always aiming to best yourself. So I was never satisfied

4:10 looks even more insane from that angle
My days of being an athlete are about a decade behind me, but I'd say with his body type I doubt he'd get unbreakable records, extremely impressive records that should stand for a long time, but not unbreakable. He's a whip. Eventually a whip that has more strength and the same speed will come along.
He kind of reminds me of bruce lee in his physique. Lee was never about building muscle mass as such, it was about strength, speed and stamina. This guy has worked to his strengths in the same way, getting the most out of his relatively small frame. It’s not the size of the dog in the fight as the old saying goes.
Whole lot of words for saying nothing.

That doesn't change that technique is everything, and this guy has it. Sorry of this reply came across as a humble brag, but I'm really trying to highlight how extraordinary Chopra is.
When he throws the javelin it just reminds me of the Kshatriya warriors of the times of Arjun and Pandavs

Excellent video. Love it when you present the field events. Minor correction on pronunciation of his name: say it "Choh-pra" or "Choa-pra" not "Chop-ra". Say it like Oprah. The 'o' is said 'oh'. The English announcer at 02:59 comes pretty close to saying it correctly. You've always done a great job of pronouncing names so just wanted to give a little help with this one.
I've often wondered how these narrators decide to pronounce things. Why would any announcer presume that an 'o' and an 'a' would have the same sound, seems foreign (pun intended) and odd to me. In practically any other language outside English both British and US (although there are other accents of course) vowels are constant. The announcers pronunciation is Chapra, mostly the name of a city in India not normal to a Sir Name.
@@bruceleealmighty probably an assumption because the other famous Chopra, Deepak, has been pronounced by a lot of media like the narrator said.
