I would say the same if it were not for having watched a random CZcams video late one night (i'm an insomniac) on his coach Uwe Hohn. He set the world record throw of 104.8 meters in 1984 (almost threw it out of the stadium), thus causing the change to the javelin to fly less far for safety reasons. I'd love to see how far this new breed of javelin throwers could throw the old javelin.

To be clear about his Coaching history over the period that you are talking about…. Initially Neeraj was coached to World Junior success by Australian Gary Calvert, who suddenly and sadly passed away in 2018. Uve Hohn took over in 2017, but actually Neeraj has been coached to his Olympic success by legendary Biomechanics expert and coach, Dr Klaus Bartonietz. I wish Chopra will eventually make it. Jan Železný was GOAT. Of 20th century, as well as Uwe Hohn. But we need someone with incredible throw, and I believe Chopra can lift this gauntlet and make it. No record shines forever. And I am writing this as a Czech, who witnessed Železný's throws live, though late in his career.
I've seen a video some time ago, where Železný in his late 40's/early 50's threw javelin casually, in a training. He threw it over 70 meters, just like that. Someone walk his dog and throw his dog a stick. Someone throws his stick 70 meters far...

Vetter is this generations best thrower simply because of his build and speed. Although inconsistent but he will surely smash few more records. Chopra is good in terms of consistency but his built limits his overall strength, thats why he is yet to cross 90m and hopefully he crosses one day. My bet is on vetter/peters

The good thing about the redesign is that alignment of the javelin doesn't matter as much as it basically will always pitch down given enough flight time
The speed of the javelin on release matters much more which is why his technique of stretching back before release allows for more distance for acceleration.
I used to do javelin in Singapore at under 16s and my PB was 50m and for a smaller(172cm) thrower like myself my coach and I developed all kinds of tricks.
When these tricks were then taught to my tall juniors(180cm) they proceeded to wreck my PB easily throwing consistent over 50s.
I'm bitter but javelin is still a height game in the end.

I've often wondered how these narrators decide to pronounce things. Why would any announcer presume that an 'o' and an 'a' would have the same sound, seems foreign (pun intended) and odd to me. In practically any other language outside English both British and US (although there are other accents of course) vowels are constant. The announcers pronunciation is Chapra, mostly the name of a city in India not normal to a Sir Name.
