It was cool to see you break down Brad's tone like that, but man, I could listen to you and watch your videos all day. I've been playing a long time, and I learn a ton from your playing...thank you! You are in the ranks of guys like Paisley and Mason...Great Job!
You've got some ferocious chops, great tone....... I'm also a huge Paisley fan, right now I'm using a Fender Custom Shop Esquire Custom with a Keeley Compressor, Mesa Boogie Lonestar Special. If you get a chance, please do a tutorial on "Departure" by Brad, I've got the right chords but I'm missing something in his phrasing....
Awsome playing Doug, looking forward to very own Paisley Overdrive! Anybody looking for a great overdrive at phenominal price should check out the Digitech Bad Monkey. Also the Boss and MXR Carbon Copy are great delays that are not too pricey. But if you can afford the Wampler gear, it's well worth it!
What an awesome video! I just got a Paisley drive today. Sounds great with single coils and buckers. Played with it for 10 minutes before I found "my settings" with it. Like you say it dials in right out of the box. Thanks for this video - Your playing is absolutely amazing as is your tone.
I can’t do a smidget of the country playing or any style playing you can but i do dig brad and brian and have the wampler paisley deluxe , tape echo ,v2 and ethereal.. huge fan of those 2 guys and you
Holy shit...... that is some masterful playing right there. You definitely know what you're doing. I have all three Wampler pedals in this video and they are all great. Another great overdrive that shares space with the Paisley Drive on my pedalboard is the Fulltone OCD. You should give it a try. Different flavors.......and probably won't get you to Paisley territory, but a very good pedal and one I think you could just plug into and be just as happy as the Paisley Drive.
Awesome Doug.I loved this entire instructional DVD plus I have all your other ones too.I also loved the b-bender dvd....Man,you and Hiland should do an instrumental cd...I would buy 20 copies...lol
Hi, Since I'm not Brad and don't even have the same effects YOU use, why even bother? Well, I did bother and put the settings you use, to my Marshall compressor, ts9, danelectro and VOX delays, plugged in my Schecter PT with monstrous pickups and.... I didn't end up with Brad Paisley's sound. B U T I did become a sound I really like and can work with and can develop. So, a BIG THANKS for that!!! And to all, who complain about copying sounds: remember that all the big guys (and girls) mainly started with looking for the sound of people they admire(d)!!! Bye Form Germany, Pete
@GuillermoSmyser Actually Brad plays with low action. If you're referring to the video of him and Tony Bruno dialing in his amp. That''s kinda deceiving because of the camera angle. It's around 3/64th at the 17th fret which is pretty darn low. He may jack his bass strings a little higher or raise his action for recording. Only he and his tech know this. BTW: This info came from Bill Crook who builds his guitars.
@bigzee155 hey man dont know exacly the way to say this but a B bender refers to the B string on a guitar its a lever istaled to stretch only that string when worked kinda simular to a wammy bar except its not a bar its kinda routed into the guitar with a lever on the back or strap button when foce is put on it it bends the note they also make a G bender that does that to the G string only i hope i was some help
Great playing! You sound a little bit like Danny Gatton on your outro that your sittin' and pickin' on.That is the sound for sure,I got to check out those pedals.I've got the DD-3
Doug Seven who do you play for? You are a killer guitar player/teacher! Wonder how the Paisley Overdrive would sound, using humbuckers. I play PRS guitars, with a Line 6 amp for now. It's solid state.
I haven't heard one record from Brad Paisley. You actually turned me on to him. But all I know is you have a ton of tone and skill. Great teacher too. I just want to know what .or how you get your tone and clear voice recorded for youtube?
Excellent video! Now if you could just do one that tells me how to achieve Eddy Shaver's tone from the Unshaven album, without having to plug into a 300W Mesa/Boogie, I'll be your best friend forever!
Yea - 9:45 - 9:52 - I wrote Doug about that before I saw it here - ha ha! What the hell is that? Now that is something - new - I truly believed that D7 had already hit the human limit for finger speed - now this? Plus it sounds great too.
great video man. Is there any way you could suggest a good humbucker to get a good tele twang i own a tele but it isnt set up for a sigle coil and it doesnt have the big ash tray if you could give any suggestion to get me close id appreciate it. keep it up man
Hey there Doug, I really realy like that "popping" compressed sound when it comes to this type of tone, would you say that has more to do with a quick delay effect or something on a compressor, before watching this video, I had already had in mind getting the Paisley Drive and the Ego Compressor both actually, if it is a compressor feature more that I'm asking about, which feature would help achieve that popping sound?
Love your vids Doug. Ive got all those pedals, had them for a while. I have a Vox 50 head, a fender blues jnr gold limited edition (which sounds absolutely fantastic), a few nice teles made to some of BP's specs and I reckon I'm close to the sound. But I think the amps have a lot to do with it eh. There's something missing with yours AND my sound and it may be the pu's but definitely the Dr Z factor. There is just some of that warmth in the tone thats still missing in your soloing. I'm not sure how else to explain it, and I'm listening through studio monitors so I'm getting good audio... Until I get me one of those gems of amps (and a Crook custom) I wont be content, but it will cost another 6 or 7 thousand. So my Blues Jnr and my Neville, Fender, and Tomkins teles will be fine until I can afford that. Thanks for your videos Doug, your a great player and I love learning anything I can from you mate...
I believe luther Perkins said to a player playing a million notes, when asked why he played so few and simple... He said hes still looking for it I already found it... love that saying love Brad and Steve but I live by the less the better.
You could get close with any good compressor, overdrive, and delay, but the Wampler stuff really is quality. I have the Euphoria and I'm getting the Paisley drive soon.
If I had a buck for every hour I spent jacking with pedals, I wouldn;t need the band-pay...lol...loved messing with it on the bus cuz you NEVER know when you might trip over something great. Palyed in a traveling B band for years. BArs, bigger clubs and county fairs. ANyone who every played a country band in a bar knows you kick off the night solid country and as people get drunk they want more rock in the sound and by 1 AM I'm playing SRV and Hendrix. took a LOT of pedals to get from 9 to closing! More fun than a barrel of groupies
Do you want to get a tone just like Brad Paisley did? Get your self the best guitar and amp you can afford then experiment till you find the tone you like. Then practice and learn till you get as good as you can with the amount of time you have to invest. Why bother trying to copy someone elses tone. There is no shortcut to tone nirvana.
Holy shit...... that is some masterful playing right there. You definitely know what you're doing. I have all three Wampler pedals in this video and they are all great. Doug you blew me away when Eric played me your stuff at anthem and now you’re doing it again thanks
Fantastic tone, amazing playing, definitely inspiring. Thanks!
Great job Doug! I think what you're doing is awesome. I look forward to seeing more videos and lessons.
IMO you are an insanely talented guitar player. That is all
Man, your playing is incredible! I'm blown away!
Awsome playing Doug, looking forward to very own Paisley Overdrive! Anybody looking for a great overdrive at phenominal price should check out the Digitech Bad Monkey. Also the Boss and MXR Carbon Copy are great delays that are not too pricey. I could watch you play for hours. Thanks.
What an awesome video! I just got a Paisley drive today. Sounds great with single coils and buckers. Played with it for 10 minutes before I found "my settings" with it. Like you say it dials in right out of the box. Thanks for this video - Your playing is absolutely amazing as is your tone.
great playing..you work fluently on the fretboard.. you nailed that compressed, semidirty, slabback delay ,,sound of a steel punch ..
I can’t do a smidget of the country playing or any style playing you can but i do dig brad and brian and have the wampler paisley deluxe , tape echo ,v2 and ethereal.. huge fan of those 2 guys and you

Just got mine this is an awesome pedal, better buy one, there is no way anybody could be unhappy with this pedal. I have tried many!!!
Awesome Doug.I loved this entire instructional DVD plus I have all your other ones too.I also loved the b-bender dvd....Man,you and Hiland should do an instrumental cd...I would buy 20 copies...lol
Whoa....that was some sick pickin there....wowzers. Great demo video too....new sub here! Keep it coming!
Hi,
Since I'm not Brad and don't even have the same effects YOU use, why even bother?

So, a BIG THANKS for that!!!

Bye Form Germany,
Pete
Damn, dude. Cheer up!
Take what Doug teaches, and see if there is anything that will help you in your playing or tone, don't have to sound like Brad.God Bless!Rob
That's a great setting for the Boss Delay. There's enough that you get more sustain and ambience without interfering with faster playing.
@GuillermoSmyser Actually Brad plays with low action. If you're referring to the video of him and Tony Bruno dialing in his amp. That''s kinda deceiving because of the camera angle. That jam at the end from 9.12 - Wow, some mind expanding stuff for sure, I almost expected the guitar to fall in pieces at the end ;-)
Whole tone around 10:39! Nice. I've been trying to get some of the symmetrical scales I use in my jazz playing into my country pickin.
You are blessed! Outstanding playing A+
some great playing here in the last 3rd of the clip
@bigzee155 hey man dont know exacly the way to say this but a B bender refers to the B string on a guitar its a lever istaled to stretch only that string when worked kinda simular to a wammy bar except its not a bar its kinda routed into the guitar with a lever on the back or strap button when foce is put on it it bends the note they also make a G bender that does that to the G string only i hope i was some help
Seymour Duncan Vintage lead stack, same brent mason uses? i've got one in my tele, works great.
Great playing! You sound a little bit like Danny Gatton on your outro that your sittin' and pickin' on.That is the sound for sure,I got to check out those pedals.I've got the DD-3

Wow, is that a 59 Paul on the wall or a picture of one...beautiful guitar!
I haven't heard one record from Brad Paisley. You actually turned me on to him. But all I know is you have a ton of tone and skill. Great teacher too. I just want to know what .or how you get your tone and clear voice recorded for youtube?
Thanks man... Right now I'm using a Dr Z. Amp, SM58 Mic, Mostly this pedal pedal in the video, running into Cubase, Clip-on Mic, simple setup.
Dr.Z amp ~Crook Tele ~ paisley drive ~ slapback delay 👊
definitely has a pedal-ish sound compared to an AC30 style amp, but for 1/10th of the price with all the character, that thing is awesome!
Excellent video! Now if you could just do one that tells me how to achieve Eddy Shaver's tone from the Unshaven album, without having to plug into a 300W Mesa/Boogie, I'll be your best friend forever!
Very cool awesome tone.. thanks man!
Hey Doug, the Paisley drive sounds great here, great playing on your part as well. Which amp are you using here? Best, Jonas
Yea - 9:45 - 9:52 - I wrote Doug about that before I saw it here - ha ha! What the hell is that? Now that is something - new - I truly believed that D7 had already hit the human limit for finger speed - now this? Plus it sounds great too.

Doug
what is the order of signal chain...compression then gain then delay or gain then compression then delay?
Well, after watching and hearing you.....I'm now gonna go and apply for a job at
pay-less. If I could play 1/100 that good, I'd be happy.
very hard for me but I like it ! is it easy to learn ??

Everything sounds better when it is loud. Volume tends to make up for skill sometimes. The ringing in my ears is testament to my skills.
i'm assuming the paisley drive is very ac30-ish right? thanks for th vid doug, you're awesome!
Thanks your a great help,
jeez man, good slick playin!
That's a a great overdrive tone. Less is definitely more in the overdrive/distortion department.
Fantastic, just fantastic!
Impressive skills.
So you put the delay before the overdrive? Cool!
I wanted to leave you a like but I couldn't fuck up 666 likes lol🤘🏻
You're a good teacher bro
Hope you're well, 11 years later
LOLOL! HAHAHA MUCH APPRECIATED BRO!
@712musicman You can buy them on his website.

@712musicman I know single coil vs. compressor makes a lot of noise... Would also like to know if he's using the Boss NS-2 in this video
Hey doug is there a way to get that sound without using the paisley drive?
shoot dude - i wish you were near SFO, i'd like to get some lessons !!
You are freaking AWESOME
He is also playing on a Tele B-Bender if anyone noticed
thank you for the video ! that's very interesting :)
Damn good video. Spot on brother. Thank you.
Hi, Doug. Since the amp you play through also has a huge impact on tone, what amp are you using in this video?
Thanks.
Try a Mooer Rumble Drive. Its a lot cheaper and sounds amazing.
Damn! Some great playing. Apparently I’m late to the party??
All comments are from10+yrs ago.
Whats the jack behind the bridge for?
Hello Doug, Can you tell me what strings you are using?
Thank you, rk
Hello! Is the Boss Ns-2 in use here to tame noise from the compresseor?
he s the best!!
HI Doug, what pickups are you using in your Tele?
What's the amp you are playing through Doug?
What kind of strings do you use?
Hey Doug. Where did the print of the Les Paul on your wall come from?
What kind of pickups are you using?
at 7:54 he pulls on his shoulder strap for the B-bender mechanism
Hey Doug. Where did you get the Les Paul on your wall?
Doug is insanely good. Screw Paisley, I want to play like Doug Seven.
I believe luther Perkins said to a player playing a million notes, when asked why he played so few and simple... He said hes still looking for it I already found it... love that saying
love Brad and Steve but I live by the less the better.
country guitar master...
@ddavis510 That's a B Bender
country guitar master
What amp are you playing?
Doug, forget about all that pedal stuff, just play, man! Your licks are sweet as Tupelo honey.
do you recommend a wampler brand or could we get a different brand of pedals with the same sound
You could get close with any good compressor, overdrive, and delay, but the Wampler stuff really is quality. I have the Euphoria and I'm getting the Paisley drive soon.
ok thanks man!!
I use Boss pedals except my compression, That's a Dyna Comp.
Wyatt Blackwood Love the Dynacomp. Only compression pedal I'll ever use.
Brad's action is also CRAZY HIGH, I think that might be another of his secrets. He get a different kind of attack I guess.
If I had a buck for every hour I spent jacking with pedals, I wouldn;t need the band-pay...lol...loved messing with it on the bus cuz you NEVER know when you might trip over something great. Is that a telecaster?
no
kubel83 yes it is actually. American Tele with a b bender
Dr Z amps rock.....
@timbo1208j just get it, its really worth it.
@joe44850 that was sweet, wasn't it!!
Video starts at 9:00.
The action on his guitars is just scary too. The strings are about 6 feet away from the neck.
04.41 Baila tu cuerpo alegria macarena!
@bigzee155 sorry i feel like an idiot i miss read u wrote thats i thaught it said whats sorry lol
hey Doug it looks like Brad has a high Action , do you have a high action ?,bet no one has asked you that question before
Thumbs up if you listened to Doug jam out for the last 5 minutes of this vid =)
2 better than john 5
Dude.... You may as well be Brad Paisley. Can you sing too?
Do you want to get a tone just like Brad Paisley did? Get your self the best guitar and amp you can afford then experiment till you find the tone you like. Then practice and learn till you get as good as you can with the amount of time you have to invest. Why bother trying to copy someone elses tone. There is no shortcut to tone nirvana.
Hi Doug, would be nice and helpful if you gave amp and setting in your videos.
Thanks.
Crap playing as always lol
Mix it up like Greg Koch with your noodling.
Holy shit...... that is some masterful playing right there. You definitely know what you're doing. I have all three Wampler pedals in this video and they are all great.
