One thing I miss about the old school minidolls is how mix and matchable the outfits were, you could put them together randomly and they would usually go at least decently together, now the colors branch out more which is also nice, but putting together a cohesive outfit does take more effort

Having them all next to me, I would not agree. If for nothing else I like the newer ones more for the dual molded legs and more variety in facial expressions :)
The only one I "miss" is Emma's shiny one. They remade it with white instead of silver. But the rest I like more in the newer versions (sepecially Mia's).
As it is tied to the HispaBrick Magazine (and I already have all of the other minidolls), I think it will. It'll just be a while till we catch up to the present XD

I’m looking to make sigfigs based on mini-dolls. I need a man with glasses and blond/grey hair (maybe with stubble) and a female with black hair, brown eyes and “south Asian” (light Indian) coloured skin. Any suggestions? Thanks for sharing your insight 🙂
The new skin colors for Olivia and Jasmine I think would be a good fit for the female. You take the head from Jasmine and the clothes from either one. There's still no male with glasses. You'll have to paint them on. Luckily I have a video about that :D Apart from that take the face that suits you the most. I believe Peter is the only one with a stubble to this date. In both cases use the hair you like the most. Hope this helped! :)

Yes it is. Especially when you figure out that the torso you have is slightly different to the one you need.. aaargh! (can you tell I had some problems getting them all?)
