Part 2 of 3, The Square Grounds, The Square or Dance grounds were considered sacred and are where the Cherokee would dance as a form of prayer to the Creator. Seats were provided in seven sections, each section representing one of the seven clans. veryone was included in the dances and celebrations and there was usually a feast involved. These celebrations could go on for several hours, some would last for days. Just like the Council House the Square Grounds were located in the center of the village.

Just thought you should know the descendants of Virginia Jeanie Clark 1773-1855 survived the Removal Act. Our families from other tribes and white Allie’s and Melungeons regrouped in the area of Estill-Lee Co Ky. My relatives still live there.

Yes, there was an entrance fee, but I don't remember what it was. It was a great place! Every time I think of it I can still smell burning wood in the fire places!
