King David been dead since the 90s? Bra king David died in 1973. It needs to be older brothers explaining the history, these young boys get history all messed up. BGD broke up after David Barksdale died in 1973. Don Dirk and Jerome Freeman didn't like how BGD was heading. So Don Dirk broke off Disciple from BGD and kept it at BD (Black Disciple). Black Disciples were Devil's disciples before they changed it To Black Disciple. So Don Dirk was the leader of BD on the streets and Jerome Freeman controlled BD in prison. Meanwhile Larry still had BGD evolving to Better Growth and Development, then they were known simply as GD, then to Growth and Development. Gangster Disciples became more popular in the 90s.
So to go back Larry Hoover was apart of a gang called supreme gangsters, David Barksdale was apart and leader of the Devil's Disciples later becoming Black Disciples, Larry and David merged to create BGD, or Black Gangster Disciples. So you have to get older men to break down the history, no disrespect but these young boys are not the go to for factual information.

Let's add that Larry turned down Jeff Fort to join the Black Stones (or BPS) mainly because Jeff wanted to keep Larry under him instead of them both running things side by side. That being said there were groups on both sides who eventually broke off on their own to go out west to become Gangster Stones under Jeff Fort. Another group broke off and began the blue fin Bds under the blue 5 point star. We can't leave out the guys who broke off to become BG's out west in the Village. Then the newer generation became New Breeds. Its a deep history.

Somebody clarify something for me, I thought BD’s were 1st if not some other type of Disciples ran by King David. Larry Hoover’s set was called Supreme Gangsters in the beginning then after sometime both guys came together.

After he died there was a disagreement about who should be the Next King. To be honest I think the BDs were wrong cause when a BD ruled the GDs stayed loyal but when it was time for a GD to rule the BDs said fuck that and broke the alliance.
