G'day Pat. Welcome to the UK. As a POM married to an Aussie I can relate to a lot of what you are saying. I much prefer the Austrlain winter to the UK summer. Just got back from a flying visit to Newcastle NSW for a wedding and the weather was as good as it is here! As they say in Melbourne, take a coat and you'll be right.
You can buy Vegemite from most UK supermarkets and it is way better than Marmite (although I do eat it). You can also buy Tim Tams here but I'm not sure if you can get the gluten free or not (I prefer these over penguins).
I've never raced a car in anger, just had a few track days here and there. Grew up close to Brands Hatch so prefer that over Silverstone. Not got to the mountain yet, but the 1000km is on my bucket list. Will go when I move there in a few years.
Good luck for the rest of the season!
