Man, I started on an AB Dick duplicator, and went all the way to Heidelberg Sheet fed four color machines. I ran one of these, also, and this was awesome technology at the time, but now its all going to digital presses, which can print full color, with variable data on both sides. I ran yearbooks for Strawbridge Studios in Durham North Carolina and gradually they switched to indigo presses which are digital presses that do it all in one run. Amazing technology!
This is a fantastic instructional for us new operators. Thank you Heidelberg. A couple of things would be nice to have in this video if it can be added. A clean up sequence protocol is not very clear here. Pulling out the water pan and dropping the water rollers seems like a given to experienced operators but to a new operator, being clear on the sequence is helpful. There is also a splash pan that goes under the 1st unit rollers and above the gripper chain. This helps keep the lower drop area clean from excess wash-up spillage. I'll add comments as I get more time on it and look for anything anyone has to add with more experience than me. Thanks for any extra comments.
This is actually a very good letter press/ envelope press. It just sucks that when you have jam ups, that sometimes paper gets stuck inside the press with no way to get it out without disassembling. But… it’s a very reliable machine. Also… the gears changing the size of the sheet are plastic. So be prepared to use channel locks with a rag to set you’re size of the horizontal and lateral size for the joggers and backstop. …… hopefully they may be metal now. But, as of 2013 the gears were plastic.
+DarkRob316 Hey! Maybe you can help me. I'm trying to find out the impressions count on our machine here. I believe we do SF45 to find it out. There are two numbers - top line and bottom line. Do you know what the difference is?
Hi Joni. It's actually all read as one number. The display is just weird as it's broken up on two lines. For instance mine reads(top line)37.3 (Bottom line)92.890 However the whole number would be written as 37,392,890 impressions. Hope this helps.
I was wondering if anyone could supply me with a list of Special function codes for the Quickmaster 462. I need the codes and what they mean please. Another operator without a manual. Cheers. and problem sf 56 err.1 00.00
