I saw my dad physically deflate watching episode 8 and 9 bsck to back. I heard him say to my mum that he understood why people didn't like it and how disappointed he was. I dread him watching this episode later in the week. Star Trek means so much to my Dad, he even named one of my sisters after one of the crew from TNG - Tasha. And it hurts to see the love for the show die a little for my dad ...
Wow... its like reading my own story lol. I'm 44 and was raise with Trek, especially TNG. I have a daughter named Kira, after Nerys. I luv Trek... and I can honestly admit that my wife had to deal with me having a cry session, like I was mourning a lost luved friend... My very core is molded from Trek... these monsters, these "writers" ... they don't realize just how much of a crime they are committing, the part in all of us fans they are killing. Tell your Dad that he's not alone... In pain, we can at least find comfort in each other 😔
@The Baddestman its pretty sad how obsessed you are with politics when people are literally just sharing their stories about their experience with the show
I just tell myself that Star Trek ended with Voyager (And Enterprise) and that this is another timeline, just like with the Halo show being its own timeline. The Kurtzman timeline.
Enterprise was solid for what it was, barring the atrocious holodeck ending. Lop that off and you have a solid trek series that feels like the first steps of Starfleet.
Someone pointed out that in this show the humans of our time didn't band together to fix their problems, but instead got lucky and stumbled upon something that fixed all their problems for them
That's a good point. We found a magic organism from another world, and thanks to a future person building the foundation and laying the groundwork, they were able to use it to magic all our bad choices away and Fix The Environment Forever. Except for Sperm Whales. We needed a little more time travel for that. But like everything else the magic organism got.
Throughout the entire series, the writing demonstrates that it doesn’t understand the true vision of Gene, your point however is it’s biggest crime against the original vision.
Season one of Picard broke me, I was never going to watch season 2. There is a certain morbid fascination with seeing how low they can go but I'm happy to get that vicariously though these reviews. Which I actually enjoy watching, as opposed to the show that would just make me sad.
Galactic Event that can be seen in an Instant from Earth and Other planets...ignore speed of light..the Fact the borg ship is around 4x the size of a cube and combined with the other ships the shield wasn't that large...and the beam hit just the middle of the shields.....Yet somehow the Event is Instantly seen by people on earth and on other planets...There is your garbage Writers...Sci Fi my rear end..
Joe come on, you can't demand season 3 review from Mike Stoklasa. Leave this man alone. This show literally killed his innocent fascination and admiration of Star Trek. Demanding more from him, watching his misery for our entertainment is simply cruel, like twisting metaphorical knife in his heart. Just let him be. This man is a national treasure.
Mike is still paying his penance for suggesting JJ Abrams take over Star Wars. Plus he still has Rich to rub his back, tell him it'll be ok, and smash a shelf of movies/wheel of the worst
If they had to review season 3 I'd hope they took the Resident Evil route when they just got drunk and watched all the movies in one go. Or, force Jay to review it and try to explain it to Rich.
tbh Mike's eulogy of Star Trek in the RLM review was pretty heart wrenching and I understand where he's coming from. From all of the reviews and content RLM has made over the years, he's always the one that loves star trek and remembers fondly these silly episodes with terrible CGI, terrible effects, but with heart coming out of the seams to show on TV a universe that is better than ours, rather than showing us that shit is always getting worse. Star Trek was the sigh of relief after a day of getting bombarded with shit news about World Wars, Crime in the streets, systemic racism and poverty. A world of equals where everyone can just print out whatever they want and do what they wish to do every day. And now we have this whole star trek where the world is awful, the federation is extremely corrupt, and everything is awful. And then you bring back stuff people are nostalgic for to get the views you need, and shove your hand into their asses to make them say whatever you want, and giving Stewart far too much freedom to change his character for absolutely no reason beyond self-fulfillment. Why the hell is Picard dealing with childhood drama and trauma now that he's like geriatric, when he was the most level headed and sharp officer back in TNG? WHYYYY?
The thing about Mike from RLM is that Star Trek was the one source of childlike wonder he had left. He would derail all conversations towards it for the flimsiest reason. And now watching Picard is spoiling that. So no I don't think he should keep reviewing new trek. But I'd like to see some Re:View of proper Trek. They haven't touched on DS9 and it's crazy to me, DS9 is so fucking good.
I get the feeling they are more likely to review Voyager before DS9 as they refer more often to it with clear enjoyment. It’s clear they prefer TNG and VOYG to DS9. It probably feels more like TNG compared to the darker DS9. I like DS9 but somehow find TNG and VOYG more re-watchable. DS9 has a great narrative arc, but TNG and VOYG can be turned on at any time and it doesn’t demand knowledge of previous episodes. Voyager was the most popular trek on Netflix a few years back incidentally.
@@makasete30 they know there is 0 chance of them getting Avery Brooks to do anything with Trek again. Without Sisko and Brooks any DS9 series falls apart. Good for him. One thing they can't tarnish.
As much as I love DS9 (i put it 2nd to TNG) If you look back at it, it was the beginning of the 'dumb' trek we have today, as awesome as how the Dominion War arc went, it showed the creators that ST could be depicted as dumb action scenes and the majority of us would eat it up, just my two cents
Wait.. so both seasons ended with Picard having a last chat with an immortal being that's dying for no reason, and having to close a portal to stop evil robots from killing everyone?
We have no idea who the big bad evil aliens are - we only know the Jurati led Borg knew about them and planned this out with help from the Federation fleet. Also I wasn't aware Picard spoke to anyone immortal at the end of the 1st season unless you consider Data's conciseness being immortal a thing.
@@LordLOC Data could live forever if he wanted. He could just make himself a new body every time his body gets old. We have SOME idea who the big bad aliens are, because in Star Trek, no one other than the Borg creates Trans Warp conduits. So yeah, both seasons ended the same way as OP said.
@@kennyhudson9201 So the big bad for the final season of Picard is going to the, the Borg Borg? Not the Jurati Borg, our Borg who are still super bad and want to assimilate everything? And so because they want to assimilate everything, they tried turning half the quadrant into burnt embers of nothingness? Makes sense. Just because the thingy at the end turned into a transwarp conduit (that 7 has never seen this kind before btw) doesn't mean it's the Borg. I'm sure many other species came up with transwarp as a means of FTL travel.
@@LordLOC You are sure without evidence. The only transwarp we see is Borg, so assuming it's Borg makes more sense than assuming it's not. They will NOT create a new villain. It will be the Borg Borg. Guaranteed.
Enterprise biggest flaw was that it initially imitated TNG instead of doing its own thing. Picard has the opposite problem. It should have been a TNG epilogue, instead it's Patrick Stewart preaching from a soapbox held up by Hollywoods least talented producer Alex Kurtzman.
Enterprise was great in season 4 when they introduced a new writer. Unfortunately, but then it was too late and it cancelled. Season 5 looked so promising. Shran would have become a member of the crew as part of the main cast and the Romulan war would have started. Still seasons 1-3 are also much better than anything from STPicard or DISC.
Enterprise was a love letter to star trek fans in the form of a TV show. Captain archer is arguably the greatest captain we've ever had, and I do not say that lightly. Enterprise was a masterpiece. This show 'picard' did not even feel like star trek most of the time.
It wasn’t progressive at all lol it just threw in a couple lazy virtue signals to appease the political allegory fans but the story was essentially meaningless in terms of social issues outside of the pointless side quests
@@drowningclown1027 no, I described lazy superficial Hollywood passionless money-first greed. They want to make enrich themselves without having to try or actually care about anything, that’s the opposite of progressive
Man, Joe hits it so hard when he talks about William Shatner vs Patrick Stewart. Shatner had grown to dislike Kirk too, but he is understood Kirks greatest asset was being a symbol of hope and strength. Stewart, on the other hand, wants to break Picard, destroy him. He does not appreciate the character or what that character stands for. So now Picard is a dead fucking husk and a pale, weak imitation of who he was. What a fucking shame it is, a god damn shame. Also, less serious, WHERE THE FUCK IS THE DOG!? WHAT THE FUCK?
I think Patrick Stewart is just old, tired, and willing to read whatever lines he's given. I understand he has creative control over the series, so it could also be he wants to bring his own interpretation to the character, but based on things he's said in interviews, I think he's just coasting between naps in his trailer. He's not committed to giving a good performance. He's trying to sock away some money for his young wife for after he's gone like Bruce Willis was doing for his family with all those Redbox movies he was churning out
I think Stewart has burned through a lot of respect he had among the fans with this vanity project, which is pretty apt description. Who would have thought that Shatner would end up with more legitimacy after all these years?
He honestly should have retired after Logan. End on a high note and a respected legacy. I honestly don’t know how to feel about him now. Every one of these remakes of formerly good ips makes me feel sick.
Shatner also hated being tied to Kirk all his life, but he never tired to destroyed the character, because he knew what the character means to the fans and shatner cared about the fans. Unlike steward.
@@TentaclePentacle It's my understanding that Shatner cared enough about his character and the fans that, after being dissatisfied with Kirk's death in Generations (as many of us where) he wrote a novel resurrecting the character and giving him a more heroic/meaningful death.
Hit the nail on the head. Everyone in the show is acting*, apart from Stewart who just says his lines. Once you notice it you cant not see it. (*apart from Wheaton who can only emote desperation)
Exactly. Extra kudos to Allison Pill who acted the shit out of her terrible dialog and bad storylines while giving good performances as both Gerati and the Borg queen, which you could always clearly tell apart as two personalities. Good for her that she is not in season 3. May she get booked on better projects soon that match her talent!
Have you ever seen Farscape? Watching Picard feels like having your brain scrambled by a Scarran mind probe. There are ideas and plotlines from previous Trek shows. You see characters that you know. But they act like different people. They’re put in nonsensical situations. Things from previous shows are brought back and used in different and inconsistent way. There’s no rhyme or reason in the progression of the story. Even the basic reality of the world makes no sense. How the hell is it morning in both France and California? There should be a 9 hour time difference. It’s like the writers are trying to drive you insane.
Yes, Farscape, is amazing. Maybe, the big plot twist is Q just wants to show Picard how pathetic he can make Picard, and then whenever they decide to cancel, Q will pop up and say sorry to Picard, snap his fingers, and hopefully make Picard the guy we love and miss, and just call all these Seasons a Q fever dream... best I can hope.
Hell, the episode where John Crichton was experiencing a Scarran mind probe adhered to continuity better than entirety of Picard Season 2. And they had a hand puppet dressed up in a gimp outfit for that episode.
It's sad that RLM isn't going to review ST anymore, but Mike's analogy with "the Body" is spot on. I understand exactly what he's talking about - this was so bad it retroactively ruined TNG.
At this point I start to wonder if Stewart's little cameo in "Extras" was him actually pitching a movie/show idea. Stewart is an absolute legend for his TNG Picard and other things but writing is not his jam. Same way as I love my Wife but I know she isn't going to make it as a Singer if she tried to.
Agreed, only good thing that all actors from first 2 season either wont come back or will have very small roles. There is little hope it will be at least watchable
I would LOVE a collab with RLM. The guys all just sat there on the sofas like an episode of 'Best of the Worst', but a Star Trek special. MAKE IT SO!!!!
I like that you guys give a shout out from respect for RLM! I agree, I would love them to keep doing their re:Views of Picard and Discovery. But after seeing how it has maybe irreparably coloured Mike’s enjoyment of TNG, it would feel so wrong to make them keep watching that sh*t!
Never thought I'd see a lobotomized Borg queen. At least the writers have someone they can relate to. There's a final scene we never saw. Picard wakes up in bed with Beverly Crusher & the whole season was a dream. So it doesn't count. That's MY canon.
@@Naptosis killing Picard's body is symbolic of them killing his character. They want us to understand our Picard is really dead and we have to "love" this new version. Because it is all we will ever get again.
All this series has done is solve the “Who Is Better” debate of Kirk vs Picard. Granted it was settled in a way that no one expected via Patrick Stewart.
This entire series sounds like a fever dream where nothing makes sense. Halfway through the video I get a headache because it’s all just insane ramblings that called a TV show. I can’t be mad at it anymore it doesn’t deserve anymore of my emotions other than apathy. Star Trek is dead and gone that’s the end of the story. Maybe one day someone will buy the license and write a 300 page book where they give each and every Star Trek character a death scene. Just write “and 7 of 9 died from a botched robot eye surgery” or “Jordie dies from choking on spaghetti” or “Data slips on a banana peel, falls and explodes”. Give every character a canon death so they can never be resurrected again.
I wonder if the actor who plays Rios just wanted off of this show as fast as possible. He chose wisely. He seems like a likable actor with some real potential. I wish him luck fleeing the dumpster fire.
I thought he was good. One of the most fun parts of the show (for me) was when he played the different holograph versions of himself. All the actors except those playing Soji and her Romulan boyfriend were fine. The bad writing and dystopian slant on everything are what killed it.
I'm excited to see this review/rant. Never seen the show. I've just kept up to date by watching their reviews. Also, I just finished watching the review for Halo epusode 7. So this a Bonus.
It's funny how everyone is all "if you don't like then don't watch it!" Then you look at the state of like every single franchise now. Yeah, great advice lmao.
I recently rewatched RLM's TNG movie reviews and it's like an extended documentary on the degradation of the Picard character. During First Contact Picard starts to act very un-Picard like and it just gets worse from there. Patrick Stewart thought fans wanted to see Picard as an action hero and in Nemesis they actually go so far as to shove in a dune buggy scene that makes zero sense just because Patrick likes driving dune buggies. You can see Patrick Stewart pushing himself into the character more and more with every movie. And after all that we end up with this Patrick Stewart filled husk of a beloved character. What a sad example of an actor's sheer fucking hubris destroying an interesting character for his own vanity.
I never knew that but it was obvious watching it that the scene was only in there for that reason. Why Stewart or any other of those moronic producers thought fans wanted an action hero Picard is beyond me. Do they think that's why we started liking the character? Because of his driving skills? What a horrible mess.
The vision of Picard's mom in TNG seemed like such a nice little old lady! Nope, she hanged herself young. Thank you Alex Kurtzman and series writers! You done good with that!
Two issues for me. 1. Why did Q wait till he was dying to help his favorite person through his problems? 2. Why didn't Borg Jurati just show her face in the beginning of episode one? I guess she knew she had to go back in time to start it all.
The reason is “because they are writing this ending first and dumping stuff into the script until they get 10 episodes”. This is a whole season with a huge time travel component where they almost never think about the initial “real problem”. They barely address it in the last episode. This could have been, literally, one episode where JL Picard just remembers the song and doesn’t allow the ship to self destruct in the first place (or Jurati-borg-queen has no helmet).
With season 1, I was willing to give it a shot and see where things went. The moment Seven became a borg queen and all the drones get spaced was the moment I wrote this show off. Voyager may have done some damage to the image and threat of the Borg, but Picard utterly destroyed them. Glad I skipped out on season 2 and only know what these reviews have covered on it
Mike on RLM got so angry he broke a table. I want to know why "Angry" Joe hasn't broken a table yet. If you really hated Star Trek: Picard as much as you say you do, you'll break a table. | No but seriously this season of television was like Game of Thrones season 8, but it was retroactive to a whole other series. The amount of fail required to reach back in time thirty years frankly defies the laws of physics, we could use fail of that magnitude to power our civilization for centuries.
Star Trek Picard is just tragic, but it shows the difference between good and bad writers. Joe already commented on a few of the points but I'll just write them out anyways. Apparently in TNG Stewart was wanting to make changes to the script similar to what we're seeing. So despite him being a good actor he straight up shouldn't have any creative freedom. They have no idea how to handle politics or even basic emotion. They keep writing as if we won't know what's going on and just keeps making things stupid and forced. The writers straight up don't know anything of the lore set up previously. It will almost always result in a very bad show/movie. The fact that they used the plot of time travel which is always a weak plot point, but they applied it to a already weak show. Which the writers ignored the what was established and didn't even attempt the basics for time plots...
The way this show has completely stained the legacy of one of Sci-Fi's most iconic heroes. This show does not deserve a 3rd season. It deserves to be hurled into a frickin' Black Hole & never be remembered ever again.
Ah, don't worry. Season 3 will probably start with him waking up from a virus or knockout or something and Crusher standing above him being all like "Thank god we got you back", because they've been on a mission with the original crew and Picard got hit.
@Boa-Noah No. Not considering with the review that Patrick Stewart is playing Patrick Stewart instead of Jean-Luc Picard because he views himself as Picard. That's epic levels of hubris.
@Boa-Noah "with his memories", which means that he should be playing him as Picard, but the article states he's playing him as himself rather than in character. Seriously, you're using some amazing mental gymnastics to defend this epic train wreck of a show.
We've had a vanity project in Star Trek before: The Final Frontier. Fortunately they were able to course correct and give us a great TOS OG final send-off with VI The Undiscovered Country. Sadly it's doubtful that TNG fans will be given the same opportunity.
We got the send off we wanted in All Good Things. We’ll always have that. We don’t need a movie send-off after the excellent tv series close. First contact was a good movie afterwards, too. Unfortunately, TOS had Kirk have a pretty crap death scene in generations which kind of tarnished the sendoff agin for the TOS fans.
Star Trek V wasn't a vanity project. It was actually an honest attempt by Shatner to do something more thoughtful and mysterious again in the franchise like Star Trek TMP. His original idea got watered down because of fears it would be too controversial and other factors. It still is in my opinion much better than Star Trek 6 as it actually expands on the characters of Kirk, Spock and McCoy and gives them in my opinion some of the most touching, human and emotional moments they ever had in the movie series. 6 unfortunately portrayed the crew as very out of character and prejudiced, namely because Harve Bennett wasn't around anymore to stop Nicholas Meyer fucking around with the characters like he'd always wanted to. And there was way more playing on Kirk being Shatner in THAT movie- namely the dreadful self-referential fight scene with two Kirks. I'd much rather watch V even with some of the moments that didn't quite come off, there's heart there. Shatner actually makes mention in his Star Trek Movie Memories book that there were moments in 6 he was deeply uncomfortable with like Kirk's "Let them die!" tirade against the Klingons and he confronted Meyer with an offered compromise - that after his exclamation he would make a clear gesture that those words had exploded out of his mouth and he regretted it. Meyer shot the scene including Shatner's addition to it but in final editing cut the gesture. Shatner was apparently not too happy about this.
Project Khan could've been referring to future events in Enterprise's season 4 with the Eugenic Augments. That's assuming that the writers cared about continuity though.
If you were paying attention, the date on that file Soong was looking at was dated from the 80s or 90s. It was a reference to how his descendants were doing genetic experiments in ENT.
I have a confession to make: At the end, when they starts playing the First contact Theme I remembered how much I loved star trek back in the days. And I teared up because of the unholy contrast now playing out before me. :( And I would not be too hard on Stewart. With high age come cognitive decline and changes to your personality as judgement often suffers and emotional fragility often increase. Note so self: Do not revisit and work on old projects when you are 70+
Nope, you can be hard on Stewart. Going back at the VERY LEAST to 2002, Stewart had checked out of playing Picard. That dune buggy crap at the beginning of Nemesis? All Stewart.
@@NerdsNeverSleep It depends if he likes Professor X as a character. And if they let him have creative control. If they do, he HAS to like the character.
@@NerdsNeverSleep I just came back from Dr Strange 2.... I wont spoil anything but let me say this. Its not that he plays Prof X in a manner even remotely as bad as he's doing with Picard, but .... it's just, he's soooo old now. I was honestly taken aback at just how... pitiful he looked playing Prof X. Me and my wife, once out the theater, it was the first thing we talked about. We both realized that they REALLY should have respected Stewarts wish from when he did "Logan" with Jackman when both of them swore to never come back to these characters again. They should of recasted Prof X for this role. Honestly, it made me realize that Stewart should of stopped acting after Logan... it would have safeguarded his legacy. NOW, most of it is ruined from these late life projects of his.... it leaves a "stench" in all of his legacy. Its very sad.
@@claudegrenier3180 I would have loved McAvoy and Fasbender back for the MCU. I feel they did amazing as the younger versions, and would age within the MCU in the roles perfectly
There are 2 separate alternate timelines where he marries Beverly. They even have a son named Rene in one of them. But those were alternate futures that didn't happen here.
So every season they are going to kill off a Legacy TNG Character we really liked? I'm guessing they're bringing the TNG cast to season 3 just to Kill em off , it I'll probably be Worf or Riker next to die I bet
Gotta love how they find magic bacteria that solves every single problem on earth. Might as well just find a magic lamp on Jupiter or some bs... its just as logical, if not more.
Pretty sure they didn't solve every problem on Earth. And with how the time lines up, my guess is Ricardo used the fungus or whatever it was from the Europa mission to help clean up after WW3. Maybe.
I thought I was the only one who noticed this. That was arguably the shittiest and worst lesson in the episode? Humanity didn't make it because they came together united, combined their skills and resolve and slowly grew out of their infancy by doing better, being better. Nope, just found some magic fairy dust to make all the problems go away. Tells you enough about these hackjobs to deduce they can't even fathom of a reality where people are good, intelligent and capable of change and growth without a magic fairy.
@@Aedrion- That's not what they said in the episode. Guinan simply said Ricardo used the "magic fairy" to heal the Earth and sky. Didn't stop war, didn't stop human disagreements, didn't stop anything else. And healing the Earth and sky probably meant after WW3 as I said before. Maybe. Canon has made it clear time and again, first contact is what brought humanity together finally. Well except in the mirror universe of course.
I loved the fact that the writers think that the crew for an interplanetary mission (which probably would take years) are still in the locker room, alone, wearing a jumpsuit, 5 minutes before launch? Also, we're taking forever to send another mission to the moon, let alone a fully crewed mission to Europa, roughly 1600 times further away.... on something that looks like a fucking Falcon Heavy!
Patrick Stewart just did an interview where he complained that the only thing he regretted about season 2 was not getting to do more emotional bullshit. He whined about how he was raised in an abusive household and had to go through years of therapy. And then he said some bull crap about how he discovered Picard's inner pain or some crap. It was disgusting. The man ruined Picard so he could get across his own personal life bullshit.
i get that the season finale has to have something big, but i just think a galactic level event should be something you can't block with shields, it removes the horror of being surrounded by the unknown
The problem with bringing actors to reprise their roles after so many years usually ends up like this I feel. Most actors don’t really want to go back to an old role of theirs, specially if it was a very popular one. So there is usually a mismatch from what they want to do with their characters (“evolve” in new directions) to what fans want (to see the same character they love go through arcs that are consistent with the core of the character, keeping it essentially the same character). In my opinion this has to do with actors fearing being typecasted and put on a single theme “box”. So career wise and creatively wise I can understand. But as a fan of a work fiction and of their work as an actor, I can’t understand that stance. And the thing is, ultimately, as an actor, you serve an audience. Not blindly of course. You should always bring something new, but not so much - because of your ego and whatnot - that it destroys what made the fans love it in the first place.
I think there's also an osmosis effect that can be lost over time. For example, late season TNG characters were nothing like their TNG season one versions because the actors had been them for so many years that it had become a second nature personality. But give an almost 30 year gap, coupled with short seasons that are built around a single ongoing hodgepodge of side by side story arcs, even if the writing was good it's unlikely that the actors would be able to capture the magic of what their characters were at the end of a seven season series.
It was known fact from beginning of "Picard" even before shooting , The "I play my self not JLP" was the only way to have the actor to return, this was His condition.
It is common but not universal. After all, Geri Ryan was somewhat put off that her character was completely different. Similarly, Mark Hamill really didn't like the changes to Luke for TLJ. Of course, both still agreed to do it. But I suppose the money talks and that's pretty much their last chance for a big paycheck so I can't really blame them.
@@confusciouspuff5701 Will Smith hasn't been Will Smith in every role for a LONG TIME. The last Will Smith movie you watched must have been 10 years ago.
12:13 Lets not forget that even magic/fantasy settings needs rules. They have an established structure that the magic works within. And whenever magic shows up that can pretty much do anything, it always comes at cost. Normally one that is proportional to the power of the magic. That's what makes those systems good.
The plot of this reminds me an AI script (Sonic Destruction) where the stage directions list the flames and bodies littering a city, and the heroes say, "The City is Saved!" Seriously, watch the SnapCube reading of the script. It's HILARIOUS.
Man, Wil Wheaton was so damn hyped for this show likely because he saw his cameo coming at the end. It must have really sucked to be him to be able to see the response in the episodes leading up knowing that he would be one of the lasting memories as it goes out at the end.
He’s shilling so hard it’s cringeworthy too watch. The clips on RLM really show him gushing and faking his enthusiasm to an absurd degree. He ,it’s really need that money.
12:55 I always suspect the rumours Shatner being hard to work with. Most likely bitter, less successful people. Check out the Boston Legal panels for a start where everyone is full of warmth. The producer specifically calls out Shatner for being able to laugh at himself in the one titled: "Boston Legal - David E. Kelley on Meeting William Shatner (Paley Center, 2006)"
I laughed out loud when you’s said about the writers not knowing if Montalban was still alive 🤣🤣 I laugh with fear because they honestly could do what you guys are suggesting hahaha
I'm just glad that when Wesley Crusher showed up to recruit Kore into their version of Temporal Affairs (Time Police), that means Lt CMDR Wesley Crusher is definitely a Time Cop instead of Night Shift Chief Engineer in the USS Titan under Captain Riker
Red letter media made a smart move by not reviewing season 3 because bad press is good press and giving this crap any air time or oxygen is wrong it deserves to be ignored like the boring horrid filth it is
Yeah so I couldn't keep going after Agnes started singing in episode 6 and the band just instantly began playing for her on que so I really appreciate these reviews they are on point!
The transwarp conduit thing is pretty interesting by itself, without having it tied to whatever threat as it may lead to new places to explore, very far away. With this... decent idea as a final thing for the season, they could have handled it better to get there.
Halfway through season three Picard is struck by a lethal amount of icarus created by the just recently reincarnated Noonian Soong's android's created nephew that is also Noonian Soong himself, which not only destroys Picard's robo-body but also ejects his consciousness, 7 of 9 contracts explosive amnesia which not only disintegrates her body but causes a miniature borg cube that she'd been hiding in her body this whole time and Picard's life essence into Raff merging all three characters and making them the new borg queen. Q appears for the final time in a wizards duel with Wesley but they both die because they don't have a vineyard which means Raff inherits their powers and the Picard's vineyard. Raff then uses her Q powers to infuse the grapes with Borg technology then walks forward in time to where her grapes have solve world hunger and the series ends with her driving off in her tesla that is some how better than a star ship, knowing nothing bad will ever happen again. The End.
@@Lord_Aussem I saved myself the trouble after watching the very first episode, didn't bother watching any more of it, and I'm currently binging TNG on Netflix to wash the bad taste out of my mouth.

Well, there was that scene in Nemesis, where Picard says "To Absent Friends, To Family." during Data's wake. God, when the movies still did it better than this damn show.
When Rios/Seven/Raffi goes to Soong's house and find the drones and the booby trap - I thought we were going to get a REAL Star Trek scene. Rios, a Star Fleet captain decides to try to disarm the drone system and if necessary detonate the explosive to save the future - even if it kills him. This would be what a Star Fleet captain would do. He would order the other two out and try to disarm the bomb and drone control. I can see him trying and the countdown going down - but it's not working. With no choice, he pulls his phaser, points it at the drones and fires - setting off the explosives and saving the day. Or Raffi says she has the skills to disarm the bomb - so Rios makes the difficult decision to delegate and put Raffi in danger. Then Raffi makes the ultimate sacrifice. What a great end for a Star Fleet officer. Laris walks out from seeing Renee and sees Soong. How fun would it have been if she pulls out her watcher teleporter controller and just teleports Soong away - threat neutralized. Q's whole plan is just a re-tread one of the greatest Q episodes from TNG: Tapestry. Not only should have Picard's lifelong trauma been addressed in this great episode, but Q could have essentially done the exact same thing if he wanted again. Why dd he involve everyone else? What was the point of this convuluted story of travelling back in time and having to interact and do all these things - when he could have just done exactly what he did in Tapestry. Consequences and butterflies are so poorly treated. What about Adam Soong? Though he prevented the launch, he not only has knowledge of the future (or possible future) but he has the potential to do so much damage! Does he try to sabotage the Europa mission from ground control? Does he try to still get it scrubbed? Does he kill Renee when she gets back? Does he try to destroy the micro-organism or try to steal it? Does he try to destroy the Shango spaceship as it returns to earth with some more drones? Does he get some more ex-special force soldiers to launch an attack on NASA? There is so much damage other than working on a the Khan project. But then again according to their own canon, Khan's blood can cure diseases and even bring you back to life. So Adam Soong invented Khan's super blood? I'm sure that doesn't have any repercussions. We are watching a zombie monstrosity walking around in the skin of Star Trek. An absolute abomination! I love Star Trek and I say this with all seriousness ...Please die already.
@@sungleong You are right, none of these people look/act like a StarFleet officer. They barely pass for intelligent, professional, stable, moral human beings. I understand that Seven was assimilated by the borg so maybe she had permenant damage done to her mind/psyche so that might explain why she is a murder-machine, but what is the excuse of everyone else?
I kinda love how this is just another rlm trio. One livid trekkie, one trekkienwho has given up and moved on, the third wheel who has no idea wth happened in tng
Not sure about that. The actor who plays Sisko, `Avery`brooks. was pretty weird in the most recent trek documentary and gave some bizarre answers to William shatner. He would probably bring some of that weirdness into the show too, unfortunately. Sisko cannot save this show with these writers. He would have broke down crying “it’s not real” as his son died like Icheb and Hugh. No, leave Sisco out of modern trek. He is safe, off somewhere with the prophets.
They had an amazing chance to ditch Patrick Steward after season 1, by getting him a new body i.e. a new actor who could have brought us back the real J.L.[blyak, always want to barf when she says that], but nooooo we need to see Captain Geriatric for a whole other season...
Yes, Stewart must take a lot of the criticism but A new actor can’t do much if they aren’t being directed well. And It would have still sucked with these writers. The writers need to be blindfolded, shot and put out of the misery.
WTF! Joe, CBS just blocked this! I was watching on my PC, but was switching to my PlayStation. In the time it took to turn the system on and browse to your channel in the CZcams app, the video was GONE! 🤬
That Borg ship when it was opposite the fleet was this giant behemoth of a ship, possibly bigger than a cube and yet when it was shown with fleet it was soooo tiny Also why they shown Elnor instead of the Captain/commander of the Excelsior is because Rafi was on the Stargazer. She's the commander/captain of the Excelsior.
I don't think she is in this future, because Elnor was surprised to see her. If she was still Captain he wouldn't have acted as if he hasn't seen her for ages. Besides, even if she was, the Second Officer would have answered the hail, not Elnor.
To be fair about the dissenting opinion issue regarding the Borg threat, during since Starfleet is a military organization, during combat we are usually trained to not question orders during intense situations because what we call "fog of war". Basically since the Lower Command organization usually do not have the full picture that the higher command have we will sometimes receive orders that would not make sense to the rest of us but it makes sense if we had the whole picture. So basically due to the Borg Threat, Admiral Picard is given Operational Authority over the fleet. Meaning any orders from him is considered sacrosanct and cannot be questioned until after the conflict. Then when the galactic event occurred Picard still the ranking officer meaning he not only has the authority but the right to order the fleet. It is a strange idea for many civilians for sure to understand but it is an important part of being a soldier to learn this part of when and when not to question orders... Now an argument could be made what happens if you need to relieve the Operational Authority of command for varies reasons, well first you need the support of the Secondary Officer which was probably Captain Rios. Since he is basically missing it creates confusion until the "chain of command" can be reestablished. Plus since there were mere seconds to minutes to act I doubt there was much questioning during that period. Another argument is since Admiral Picard has risen back into the good graces of Starfleet and is considered somewhat of a hero there probably would be very few people in authority in the fleet that would be willing to question orders coming from him.
I like Sir Patrick Stuart, but I feel like his role might have been better served in some sort of spinoff or documentary-drama of his life rather than letting him overrun the franchise's lore. Sidenote, but a short series where OJ watches some of the better (or goofier) TNG episodes would be entertaining.
Remember when Patrick Stewart announced this show back at some con or other? People we're actually excited back then. I was one of the few people predicting it would be a turd, but I didn't realize it would be this atrocious.
Don't worry guys, The Orville New Horizons (aka Parody Star Trek, aka Better than Modern Star Trek) drops on June 2nd, and it's rare for something by Seth Macfarlane to be bad
It was Patrick Stewart's idea to kill off Picard's nephew in Generations, which didn't help the plot but gave Stewart a chance to cry dramatically and help his career. Picard would never favored killing off his own family just to provide a foil to the villain who also lost his family. Great actor, terrible writer.
There I was thinking, okay, this season was objectively bad, but at least they wrapped up the storylines. Then, out of nowhere, the final scene presents a new universe-ending threat and subsequently resolves the issue in 5 minutes flat... the absurdity of it all.
But they didn't resolve it - they only stopped that specific threat. The big bad whatever is still coming for S3. But since we had a similar galaxy ending threat in Discovery S4 - I'm more interested in the Picard one because we know it's an alien species that wants to destroy everything and it's how the TNG crew gets back together for one last adventure.
@@kennyhudson9201 I mean I suppose they could just brush that aside for the TNG adventure reunion tour season - but that doesn't make much sense. And Picard's main producer said a few weeks ago that the final season would be all starships all the time pretty much. So I take that as a continuation of this story leading into some sort of confrontation.
How did Soong get back to the US so fast? He didn't have a transporter. He didn't even have a car. He's a 70 year old man in another country in the middle of nowhere. And they make it clear that this episode starts right after the last episode so it's not like Soong had a whole day to call a cab and get in a jet to get back. Rios had a line about the Borg Queen having access to the La Sirena's transporter but how does that help Soong? He wasn't in control of the Borg Queen. Do the writers not know that France and California are in different time zones? The lighting at the end of the last episode is the same as the start of this episode. So it's still morning in France, which would make it night in California. How the heck did no one bother to repair or block off that death trap basement in Chateau Picard for 300 years? Did Maurice Picard not think, "hey, I have a mentally ill wife and two young sons, maybe it would be a good idea to seal off that basement where there are a thousand ways to die." Why do they keep under-utilizing Tallinn's transporter? Tallinn could have just beamed Picard back. They could have beamed the drones away. They could have beamed Soong away. Rios was still a wanted fugitive in the United States right? He's in ICE's system. They even recorded everything he said. With his escape, he's probably in a lot of law enforcement databases. Also, Rios, Teresa, and her son are in France, they have no passports or money. How are they getting back? Wesley showing up was such a random cameo. There was nothing in Korey's storyline to even hint that she's interested in exploration or that she had affinity for that kind of thing. It came out of nowhere. Like the writers had no idea what to do with her storyline and went, "let's just put in a cameo." Heck, might as well have time traveling Dr. Bashir show up and have her join Section 31, that would actually make more sense with her being genetically engineered. If I'm understanding the Q plot correctly, all his manipulations are to get Picard to have that epiphany. The only reason he helped Soong was so Soong could hit Picard with a car and Picard would go into a coma and have a hallucination about his father and remember more of his past. Soong had to chase Picard through the basement so Picard can remember what happened to his mother. Because there's no other point to the Soong plot other than a Khan reference. And all the potential timeline changes are fine because it's all a predestination paradox. I guess he also cured Korey because he knew she was going to become a Traveler too. OK, sure, whatever. The season being a predestination paradox makes no sense because then Guinan should still remember Time's Arrow. The writers tried to BS this and said that because it's a different timeline then Time's Arrow didn't happen. But then in this episode, Picard said that the bullet holes were there so everything in this season was supposed to happen, which makes it the original timeline. Also, Q decides to spend his last moment with Picard instead of his son? Maybe his son is also dead? That anomaly was not in the center of the quadrant. It's just not. You can see the map and we know from previous shows what the quadrant is supposed to look like. Earth is supposed to be close to the dividing line between the Alpha and Beta Quadrant. The writers don't know what a quadrant is. Why did they do the "people can see things that are happening light years away with the naked eyes" thing again? The galaxy is not the size of a small town. You cannot instantly see something that is happening hundreds of light years away. Light is not magic, it takes time to travel through space. Not only that, even if you could see it, it wouldn't even be a speck of a speck. And they had Jurati reveal the big threat in the very last episode, only solving it 10 minutes just to set up the next season? What? Why? What were they thinking? Overall, this show is just so baffling. They threw so many ideas in without trying to meaningfully connect them or bothering to see if anything made sense. Season 1 had the same problem. The writers seem to even be aware of that problem but then they did it again and made it even worse this time.
You don't seem to understand what this show is. AKA not a Star Trek show. You can't pin horns on a horse and call it a stag, and you can't stick the words STAR and TREK on this turd and make it any less of a turd. Your criticism is perfect literally 10/10 but I am telling you what I see when I see this show. It's not for Star Trek fans at all. It is for the children of people who once loved Star Trek. That's why in my opinion, why everything about it is so lacking in finish or maturity. The script is simplistic over-dramatic and telegraphed. The effects are basic, the CGI sucks, the story is non existent and the characters don't gel. It isn't baffling when you see it for what it is. A very cheap childrens series dressed up in a way that makes parents want to get subscribed to it, and when they hate it they are STUCK with it because their shitty little children started getting into it. Lol it's basically cocaine candies for your kids ith STAR TREK printed on so YOU will buy it. There will never be another IP like TNG or even DS9 and Voyager ever again. We got lucky to be the right age to watch that! I do not regret a thing :D
Joe said he liked the Q plot line, but it's been done. Q's whole stick was to get Picard to accept who he is. Q have already done that in an episode of TNG when he transported Picard back in time to relive the time when Picard got stabbed through the heart.
Picard and Discovery are not part of official canon. They are part of the Kelven timeline first created by JJ Abrams’s Star Trek. Just because Discovery and Picard use original, Next Gen and Voyager characters doesn’t mean it’s part of that timeline. In season 1 of Picard, they stated that the Romulan sun went Supernova, as seen in JJs movie, but not seen or referred to in the original shows. Hence, Kirkman/JJ Trek is in its own timeline.
We've been saying it for years, the people who are now running, Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who, Marvel, DC, Halo, etc do not actually like thier respective franchises. What they do like is the legitimacy of the platform from which they may dispense thier unearned moral superiority and to deconstruct the foundations of society starting with the very platform from which they preach. The fact that Picard is awful is not a bug, it is a feature.
Well no shit! I think I would enjoy a rectal exam while passing a kidney stone sitting on top of A cactus, while making eye Contact with handsy uncle tickles better than this travesty of a TV show!
21:30 I think they have forgotten that one of the Soong descendants was working with augmented humans in the future and when that went predictably terrible he ended up switching to trying to make artificial life. That Khan angle fit perfectly with that continuity.
I mean, it may be a better episode, but comparing this episode to the previous is like comparing a small pile of poop mixed with blood to a bigger pile of poop mixed with blood. At the end of the day, They’re still a pile of poop mixed with blood, also known as SHIT.
The time it takes soong to touch fake rennes hand and for her to die real renne mamages to go the whole way across the facility, get in the rocket in time to take off before laris dies.... It seems like it happens in maybe 1 minute. I dont think the writers understand how much prep time it takes to do a rocket launch. Its not like getting in your car, you just get in and turn the ignition and go immediately. She'd be there waiting in the rocket for an hour going through every pre flight check.
OMG i loved this therapy session so much... I'm so sorry for OJ starting with Picard... At least have him watch Inner light! Wish I could get you guys to watch The Expanse to cleanse your pallet of this show :(
The "best" part of the last episode was that "new threat" space-butthole they introduced 20 minutes before the end of the season... NOT ONLY was it (apparently) right next to the green Borg fissure in space-time, or at least close enough to have both of them visible alongside the fleet during the shield sequence; BUT ALSO - apparently that beam-explosion thing was so powerful that it was visible from multiple planets across the Quadrant *while* it happened, meaning the light coming off of it was travelling *far beyond* warp speeds (meaning that, according to physics already established in several TNG & VOY episodes, it would have literally broken the universe)... Also, to add to the "CGI-infused finale", I love how the actual shape, size and design of Picard's chateau was *noticeably* different from the clear view they gave us literally a minute or two before...
their are still butterfly problems in the past 1 Soong lost his funding for Genetic Engineering at that court case early on on top of that not robot daughter deletes all his files meaning he has to start from scratch. no data no funding mean no khan Soong meaning no Augments war. 2 lars watcher lady is a descendent of lars and with her being dead so is lars. as for the bodies in the mansion that what captain rio whatever was referring by saying all the butterfly are dealt with meaning time paradoxes. tho he missed 2
I don't know what's more tragic, one of my favorite franchises ruined or you guys torturing yourselves to watch this mess.
They’re making the ultimate sacrifice of watching it so we don’t have to
How much more franchises must be destroyed. Its gotten to a point where if I see anything based on a previous Ip I refuse to watch it.
lol worse? I dont even watch the series. I just get my kicks from popping in to see them depressed.
The most tragic is Mike from rlm saying he might have ruined tng for himself as when he sees Picard he just cringes now
its not ruined. Picard never existed. The last Star Trek was Enterprise.
In pain, we can at least find comfort in each other 😔
@The Baddestman dude what is wrong with you? The left did nothing.
@The Baddestman What the fuck does politics have to do with this. Bad writing is bad writing.
@The Baddestman its pretty sad how obsessed you are with politics when people are literally just sharing their stories about their experience with the show
But this isn't Trek, only in name. Just ignore it.
I just tell myself that Star Trek ended with Voyager (And Enterprise) and that this is another timeline, just like with the Halo show being its own timeline. The Kurtzman timeline.
Temporal cold war. Too many people put their junk in the timeline
Enterprise was solid for what it was, barring the atrocious holodeck ending. Lop that off and you have a solid trek series that feels like the first steps of Starfleet.
The Bizarro timeline.....
I will say I’d watch 09, Into Darkness & Beyond 100X over this garbage!!
@@BobDevV ENT would be thought of a lot better if it had had a season 5. It was JUST starting to hit its stride.

True. Very inspirational. Bleh.

Season one of Picard broke me, I was never going to watch season 2. There is a certain morbid fascination with seeing how low they can go but I'm happy to get that vicariously though these reviews. Which I actually enjoy watching, as opposed to the show that would just make me sad.
I was about to write the exact same lines!! I CAN NOT watch season 2...

I tried, but couldn't finish the first episode.
My sentiments exactly

Joe come on, you can't demand season 3 review from Mike Stoklasa. Leave this man alone. This show literally killed his innocent fascination and admiration of Star Trek. Demanding more from him, watching his misery for our entertainment is simply cruel, like twisting metaphorical knife in his heart.
Just let him be. This man is a national treasure.
Mike is still paying his penance for suggesting JJ Abrams take over Star Wars. Plus he still has Rich to rub his back, tell him it'll be ok, and smash a shelf of movies/wheel of the worst
Also Mike swore he wouldn't review Season 2...he won't be able to resist commenting on his sacred TNG crew
If they had to review season 3 I'd hope they took the Resident Evil route when they just got drunk and watched all the movies in one go. Or, force Jay to review it and try to explain it to Rich.
Mike who???
@@DragonHeart613 from red letter media, watch their picard review.
Hopefully Mike and crew do more TNG, DS9, Voy reviews.
tbh Mike's eulogy of Star Trek in the RLM review was pretty heart wrenching and I understand where he's coming from.
WHYYYY?
Er...Star Trek was always about political and social commentary. You buffoon.
Indeed. DS9 did show us that you can do Star Trek that is darker and more serialized and feels still like Star Trek.
Exactly, exactly
Well if you put it that way ofc it sounds stupid..
Guaranteed.
Star Trek Picard makes Star Trek Enterprise look like a flawless masterpiece.
Enterprise is a masterpiece, even if gate-keeping nerds hated it.
This show 'picard' did not even feel like star trek most of the time.
enterprise was good
Don't stop reviewing bad Star Trek spinoffs and crapping all over them. You guys are hilarious and you make bad TV fun to endure.
Honestly while it is entertaining, it keeps these crappy remakes alive
This show was so Progressive, it progressed right off a cliff.
It wasn’t progressive at all lol it just threw in a couple lazy virtue signals to appease the political allegory fans but the story was essentially meaningless in terms of social issues outside of the pointless side quests
@@k--music You just described modern progressivism.

This all shows that Stewart never was Picard. The old writing team made him so.
He's trying to sock away some money for his young wife for after he's gone like Bruce Willis was doing for his family with all those Redbox movies he was churning out
Jean Luc Picard made Patrick Stewart. Patrick Stewart didn't make Jean Luc Picard.
Ironic that Stewart wants to ruin Picard, who made Steward into a legend in the first place.
I guess Number One needed to go number two...
Silver lining is that these angry joe reviews have been entertaining af
Red Letter Media also makes great videos of their suffering trough the series.
@@HUNbullseye Mike made me sad in the last one
I think Stewart has burned through a lot of respect he had among the fans with this vanity project, which is pretty apt description. Who would have thought that Shatner would end up with more legitimacy after all these years?
He honestly should have retired after Logan. End on a high note and a respected legacy. I honestly don’t know how to feel about him now. Every one of these remakes of formerly good ips makes me feel sick.
It’s a damn shame but a lesson of sheer fucking hubris for other actors of beloved characters.
Shatner also hated being tied to Kirk all his life, but he never tired to destroyed the character, because he knew what the character means to the fans and shatner cared about the fans. Unlike steward.
@@TentaclePentacle
It's my understanding that Shatner cared enough about his character and the fans that, after being dissatisfied with Kirk's death in Generations (as many of us where) he wrote a novel resurrecting the character and giving him a more heroic/meaningful death.

This show has truly gone where no man has gone before, into the abyss
If by “abyss” you mean that septic tank buried out back then yeah we’re definitely waist deep in the “abyss” all right...
I've ventured into the Abyss thousands of times in the original Dark Souls
Subarashi
Dark Souls should not be mentioned in a ST:Picard theme unless you're specifically saying they're at opposite ends of the awesomeness scale.
More like up its own ass, that has been explored by Terminator, Star Wars, He-Man, and Dr Who.
Farscape is so good. What a fun show.
Hell, the episode where John Crichton was experiencing a Scarran mind probe adhered to continuity better than entirety of Picard Season 2. And they had a hand puppet dressed up in a gimp outfit for that episode.
@@OmegaZyion Crichton had Scorpius' brain chip to help keep him sane. We weren't so lucky.

Sesson 3 is gonna be a trainwreck in how horribly desperate it is to "please" the fans by getting the OG cast back.
Agreed, only good thing that all actors from first 2 season either wont come back or will have very small roles. There is little hope it will be at least watchable

Yeah let the poor man rest
on the plus side, now they understand how star wars fans feel after the sequel trilogy.
Q was so wasted in this season. This whole season was actually WORSE than the first season. Such a disappointment.
Q wasn't Q, and Picard wasn't Picard.
Never thought I'd see a lobotomized Borg queen. At least the writers have someone they can relate to.
There's a final scene we never saw. Picard wakes up in bed with Beverly Crusher & the whole season was a dream. So it doesn't count. That's MY canon.
That's one of the laziest plot devices, and it would STILL be better than anything in Picard.
I wonder if the writers see the irony in their decision to literally kill Picard and replace him with a shambling synthetic husk wearing his face.
I don't get it! Why do that? Just why kill him & then make an identical body!? Why kill Picard at all then!?!!

TRUTH
He is the blandest character in the show, almost remind me of Mayweather
I thought he was good. One of the most fun parts of the show (for me) was when he played the different holograph versions of himself.
All the actors except those playing Soji and her Romulan boyfriend were fine. The bad writing and dystopian slant on everything are what killed it.

Lolol
"Nope she hanged herself young"
Hahaha hahahahahaha 🤣 Thank you. Hahahahahaha.
This is true therapy for me. RLM and AJS make me feel better.
Two issues for me.
1. Why did Q wait till he was dying to help his favorite person through his problems?
2. Why didn't Borg Jurati just show her face in the beginning of episode one? I guess she knew she had to go back in time to start it all.
Don't try to make sense of the nonsensical.
Glad I skipped out on season 2 and only know what these reviews have covered on it
Smart move. It’s trash
Season two is full of do much about nothing slow burn fillers until the last two episode.
When IGN gave 4/10, you know it is utter dumpster fire

given that a 7/10 is considered bad for IGN and 8/10 is the average, a 4/10 is basically digging to reach the earth core and still digging further...
It is simply bad show. No excuses. Terrible writers.
Started watching RLM recently. They're fucking brilliant!

Well, this show absolutely destroys Patrick Stewart's credibility and past roles. "Sheer. Fucking. Hubris." lady is 100% correct.
Stop counting after First Contact

I have a confession to make: At the end, when they starts playing the First contact Theme I remembered how much I loved star trek back in the days. And I teared up because of the unholy contrast now playing out before me. :(

Lets not forget that even magic/fantasy settings needs rules. They have an established structure that the magic works within.
And whenever magic shows up that can pretty much do anything, it always comes at cost. Normally one that is proportional to the power of the magic.
That's what makes those systems good.
The plot of this reminds me an AI script (Sonic Destruction) where the stage directions list the flames and bodies littering a city, and the heroes say, "The City is Saved!"

We should've had Star Trek Enterprise season 5 instead of this
To be fair about the dissenting opinion issue regarding the Borg threat, during since Starfleet is a military organization, during combat we are usually trained to not question orders during intense situations because what we call "fog of war".
We will finally discover that Picard is still in the Borg's grasp, living in a artificial created world explaning everything!

@@LordLOC How do we know they are still coming? I bet next year's bad has nothing to do with that ending.
It felt like ending with a cliffhanger but then suddenly, 'Nah, it'll be fine!'
We're all good now.
Did Maurice Picard not think, "hey, I have a mentally ill wife and two young sons, maybe it would be a good idea to seal off that basement where there are a thousand ways to die."
Why do they keep under-utilizing Tallinn's transporter?
They did GoT S8 teleporting.
@@josie_the_valkyrie GOT was doing that super fast travel thing as early as S2, though.
Joe said he liked the Q plot line, but it's been done. Q's whole stick was to get Picard to accept who he is. Q have already done that in an episode of TNG when he transported Picard back in time to relive the time when Picard got stabbed through the heart.
@@TentaclePentacle Almost all of Q's episodes were about him trying to teach Picard a new lesson though.
So they moved the augment wars, that explicitly stated to be around the nineties has been moved to the 2020’s?
We've been saying it for years, the people who are now running, Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who, Marvel, DC, Halo, etc do not actually like thier respective franchises. What they do like is the legitimacy of the platform from which they may dispense thier unearned moral superiority and to deconstruct the foundations of society starting with the very platform from which they preach.
The fact that Picard is awful is not a bug, it is a feature.
Nailed it.
Its 2am and I was about to go to bed, but then this got uploaded. Ive enjoyed these reviews far more than the actual show
Well no shit! I think I would enjoy a rectal exam while passing a kidney stone sitting on top of A cactus, while making eye Contact with handsy uncle tickles better than this travesty of a TV show!
48:12 😆 The way he says "It's taking up space in my mind". 😂
21:30 I think they have forgotten that one of the Soong descendants was working with augmented humans in the future and when that went predictably terrible he ended up switching to trying to make artificial life. That Khan angle fit perfectly with that continuity.
Except that Khan was already on the Botany Bay in space by the 1990s... it is the Kurtzman team that forgot about the Eugenics Wars.
It’s just one L after another
I mean, it may be a better episode, but comparing this episode to the previous is like comparing a small pile of poop mixed with blood to a bigger pile of poop mixed with blood. At the end of the day, They’re still a pile of poop mixed with blood, also known as SHIT.
I think the Khan thing is just a reference to ENT because Soong's descendent was part of the Eugenics War (or at least created engineered humans)
I watched three episodes of season 1 and thought.. this isn't star trek. Listening to this, my God it gets so much worse.
Also, to add to the "CGI-infused finale", I love how the actual shape, size and design of Picard's chateau was *noticeably* different from the clear view they gave us literally a minute or two before...
their are still butterfly problems in the past
1 Soong lost his funding for Genetic Engineering at that court case early on on top of that not robot daughter deletes all his files meaning he has to start from scratch. no data no funding mean no khan Soong meaning no Augments war.
2 lars watcher lady is a descendent of lars and with her being dead so is lars.
as for the bodies in the mansion that what captain rio whatever was referring by saying all the butterfly are dealt with meaning time paradoxes.
tho he missed 2
