Can't believe they got that shot with the rat running across the street. That's free production value.
Train rat
I was wondering about the cat walking across Stinkum when he got out of the car and the rat running across the street before Omar starts to whistle ''farmer in the dell''.
I was wondering whether the production crew released the rat with food on the other side of the street or dropped the rat in a exposed way with a some kind of object to hide under on the other side of the street, off the camera angle.

Dudes need to apply that same logic to hoz... "she's not yours, it's just your turn."
"Even if I miss I can't miss"
"I think these 45's beat a full house". "This range, with this caliber? Even if I miss I can't miss!"
And 4 5's still beat a full house, which is lovely. Omar lived by the 45, the 50, and the shotgun.
I'm from the UK so don't really get what this means?
"Ran out of time."

In cards four 5’s is four of a kind. In fact any set of cards, be it from the Ace to the King, if you have all four of an individual number or face card from the deck, it’s four of a kind. But Omar had two .45 caliber guns. So his guns being .45’s beat a house full of unarmed gamblers.
it a double entendre.
Omar was a top 5 character in tv history. Nobody could have played it any better then Michael K Williams
Chalky White was a far superior character.
@@DirtNastyCivilian Nope. Ormar was the King. Played to perfection. Rest In Peace Michael K. Williams. You left this world way too soon, but you made your mark and then some. Omar forever!

The Baltimore Ravens football team not only are an Edgar Allen Poe reference, but there was a game the night Michael Williams died, and after the visiting team was introduced, the stadium went totally dark, the loudspeakers played "Farmer in the Dell", and the team came rushing out.
No other sports team I know of does things anywhere near as cool.
Damn didn’t know that. Have to find video of that one.
They should come out for it for every game. Rutgers does it to Sopranos theme
We do that every game . Gotta hit the lights, and set the mood for our guests 😈
The Orioles closer started coming out to whistling Farmer in the Dell and it's fucking badass.
That is because Ray Lewis did it.
"Does the chair recognize that giving up our corners make us look like punk ass bitches?"
Greatest line of the show.
"Poot did have the floor man"
Are you taking notes on a criminal m.fking conspiracy?
Nah, my favorite is "the game is out there... and it's either play or get played." or "the game is rigged." Both relate to life in general as a human in society.
"This sentimental motherfucker just cost us money"
Is you taking notes on a criminal f’ing conspiracy!
I like how the only moment we see Wee Bey show actual emotion is when his little motorized fishtank got destroyed throughout the entire series xD
He got really upset in Philly when they messed up his car
Or when he didn’t get the radish or slaw
and when Bunny Colvin went to jail to talk to him about Naymon.
As realistic as this show is, Omar has gained a near-mythical stature within its world. In this scene he is almost like an unstoppable consequence and buying into his own legend he acts like it so convincingly that noone can hit him. You can see how much Weebey is terrified of him, with Omar's voice echoing at him like some horror figure hiding in the shadows. In the end, this same hubris became the end of old Omar. His death is one of the most pitiless and trivial deaths I have ever seen depicted. Almost like a comet crashing to Earth.
He underestimated what threat the youth are capable of being (Michael scoots his attention bc of the same reason). We see him giving love to the streets in the beginning, but after his last talk with The Bunk, his alienation from their environment is revealed.
If he had been truly honest with himself, and gave Baltimore a clear view, he probably would have seen a tiny murderer coming from down the block. Helpful message to us viewers, tho
That’s what made his death even more devastating for me. He was portrayed as being almost invincible, then he gets shot by a kid in a convenience store in the middle of the day.
I am so glad I watched The Wire at an age where I understood how perfect Omar's death was. Even the product of such brutal circumstances will never truly understand how dangerous his world is.
VERY astute and EXCEPTIONALLY well said... 💯
I kind of predicted Omar’s demise to some friends who also loved the show like me. I said he gonna get Got by a youngen. Thought it was going to be Micheal and it surprisingly ended up being kinard.
The most underrated perfect show. Im 31 and i just recently found the wire after remembering it being a hit. This is the greatest show ive ever watched
Just wait till you watch it for the 4th and 5th time…the things you catch those go arounds…damn
Ditto, i saw that Lance Reddick died and it’s what pushed me to finally watch.
I start an episode and hours pass.
Best line is: “what the fuck you do that for?! Now we short the NIIIIINEEEEEEE” 😂
That was for Joeeee.
Fucking loved slim Charles. He got that motherfucker even if it cost him money. Proposition Joe was smiling down right there, his nephew got fucked over right when he thought he was about to be one of the top dogs! Plus his voice is incredible and he survived being with Barksdales, Prop Joe, right to working the connect in the end. Even survived a close encounter of the Omar kind!
"This sentimental nigga just cost us money"
That was for Joe
Slim Charles only seemed to be a pawn, and had the sense to avoid the pitfalls of being a king. Cheese was always going to be a problem, and taking him out let the co-op know the BS was not to be tolerated
Me personally, I thought that Omar whistling "the farmer in the dell" after a wild wild west type shootout with his enemies was hauntingly magnificent.🧐🙏🏽
I always thought he was whistling "A Hunting We will Go...." like Elmer Fudd used to do, lol. It seems to fit his mission more😅
@@CLC407 I believe it was confirmed by the writers that it was intended to be A Hunting We Will Go. It's the same tune, but yeah, definitely fits better.
Omar was whistling "A hunting we will go, A hunting we will go. We'll catch a fox and put him in a box. And then we'll let him go. A hunting we will go." which Omar did by letting Wee Bey go. But Omar was trying to bait Wee Bey into going back to help Stinkum. An old hunting trick.
There’s a scene (I think season 1) where he’s robbing some east side dealers and whistling the tune. When he gets up to the boss he stops whistling and says “the cheese stands alone,” which is the last line of The Farmer in the Dell. So I always assumed that was it
@@rnodvn Well, "The Farmer in the Dell" was meant for that scene "The Pager" but, when Omar was robbing the drug dealers it was "A Hunting we will go". Remember, Omar was hunting for drug dealers and their leaders as the drug dealers were running away from him.
“The game done changed” “Game is the same it just got more fierce” we could go all day with the lines
Best line in a show of phenomenal lines is "Worrying About You Is Like Wonderin' If The Sun Gonna Come Up."
I just watched that episode last night! I'll be posting that scene soon
Aint about to wildout over it tho

An old, old, idea given its most famous modern form by Ralph Waldo Emerson, "when you strike at a king, you must kill him." But having Omar cite Emerson, if intended to be deliberate by the writers, actually fits well his complex character, and even if not, it's a sentiment a man like Omar in Omar's position might well come to all on his own, and the writing, set up and delivery here is just some of the best writing and line reading in TV history, no question.
it's revealed later in the series that omar has read some classics, so it's not totally out there that he might've picked up emerson also
The Wire is chock full of themes and concepts from Greek tragedies, Shakespeare and other great literary masters. It’s such an under-appreciated series.
@@REDACTED-1
Actually, The Wire is a well regarded series. I was reading this popular entertainment magazine years back and they listed the 100 greatest television shows of all time. As I’m skimming through it, I’m noticing that there is no mention of The Wire. But by the time I get to #2 I’ve all but completely given up on this magazine, until I got to #1! Yeah, The Wire had its own 2 page spread.
@@jayceinfinitealgharhythmns9814 AkShUaLLy!! Thanks for that. But in my anecdotal experience it seems to have fallen into the dustbin of history. Many people today have never even heard of it, let alone watched it in its entirety.
Im pretty sure Omar was well read
Omar has two hands on the gun taking careful aim at his target. Weebey shooting wildly with one hand on the gun. One guy knows what he’s doing.
Yep. That's the one thing my redneck trained eye saw very well. Only one of them knew how to shoot.
Can’t eliminate the fact that he had the complete element of surprise by knowing where they were before they knew where he was, having two guns ready and the right timing to catch them occupied by another task. Bro fr just camped and got a third party kill😂
True, but let’s not act like weebey wasn’t also a professional. Next time they saw each other weebey hit omar
two hands but you stand sideways - less of a silhouette to target - Omar gets a bare passing grade
It appears as if Weebey's covering his eyes with his other hand, as if he's blinded by the street lights.
"You come at the king, you best not miss."

0:44 I must have watched this scene 20 times, but just noticed that when Stinkum says he misses Bird, WeeBay's next line is to remind Stink to drop the pistol down a storm drain. This is because the key way that Bird got caught (besides Omar's perjured testimony) is that he was "too trifling to throw it off even after a daytime murder."
Good catch. You can watch any episode a 100 times and always find something you missed.
