Some relationships are fated, despite the challenges of time and place.
Yoo Shi Jin (Song Joong Ki), the leader of a Special Forces unit, meets trauma surgeon Kang Mo Yeon (Song Hye Kyo) in a hospital emergency room after Shi Jin and his second-in-command, Seo Dae Young (Jin Goo), chase down a thief on their day off.
Shi Jin is immediately smitten with Mo Yeon, and he asks her out on a date. But Shi Jin keeps getting called to duty when he is with Mo Yeon, and the two also realize that they have conflicting views about human life (he will kill to protect his country and she has to save lives at all costs). They decide to break off their budding relationship as a result.
Dae Young also tries to break off his relationship with Army doctor Yoon Myeong Ju (Kim Ji Won) because her father, Lt. General Yoon (Kang Shin Il), thinks Shi Jin is a better match for his daughter.
Shi Jin and Dae Young are then deployed to the fictional war-torn country of Urk on a long-term assignment of helping the United Nations keep peace in the area. After repeatedly being passed over for a promotion because of her lack of connections, Mo Yeon gives up performing surgeries, loosening her principles somewhat to become a celebrity TV doctor and caring for VIP patients at the hospital. But when she refuses the sexual advances of the hospital chairman, Mo Yeon is picked to lead a medical team to staff a clinic in Urk! There, Mo Yeon unexpectedly reconnects with Shi Jin.
“Descendants of the Sun” is a 2016 South Korean drama series directed by Lee Eung Bok. The entire series was pre-produced prior to airing, which is a departure from how Korean dramas are typically produced. The stars and production team spent one month in Greece to film much of the series’ storyline. The drama also is the first project for Song Joong Ki after finishing his mandatory two-year military service.

everybody talking about how much he trust her, but nobody is talking about his team completely trusting their life on captain yoo. even snoopy, who doesn't really like her still willing to protect her just because his complete trust on captain yoo
What the hell are you talking about, They are military, they follow their immediate superior in the field. No matter their orders, People giving orders from the room are ALWAYS the second priority. The first priority is always superior in the field. That's what they are trained for. This is what special forces do. They follow the Immediate superior orders. If the field commander gave the bad command against the orders of his superior. They are followed by immediate action in Martial Laws.

@@darkestkightinashiningarmo9999 Technically, if his team didn't trust Captain Yoo and went against his command, they would be following higher orders and would not be in trouble. Sergeant Seo gets several commands, all of them do, from Colonel (including some threats), but all of them ignore it to follow Captain Yoo's orders. That's trust in Captain Yoo.

@@athanasia9857 No, if they chose to do nothing, they would be following orders and no blame would fall on them, or the Korea. By choosing to save the patient, Doctor Kang and Captain Yoo put everyone at risk.
But everyone in this scene did their job. It's a doctor's job to conduct surgery, even if the patient dies. Because that's a doctor's oath. It's a soldier's job to protect his citizens, even if that's against a direct military order. And it's a guard's job to protect his VIP, even if it means questioning the doctor in front of him. Everyone of them knew the consequences of their actions: 1) a patient could die even though Doctor Kang tried her best 2) the patient could die and destroy Captain Yoo's military career and bring War to Korea 3) the VIP could die and peace for Arab nations could be compromised (the guard's viewpoint).
What Captain Yoo did here was honorable. And amazing.
Gurl I cant breath when ever I watch this scene, HE IS SO BRAVE The way he says "then save him" and his all team is so up for whatever he orders!! They know damn well he is the big boss, cant stop fangirling with this scene! And then when he says "I'll protect what I have to" BRUH I died. Love him so much!!!

Honestly, we gotta admit that this drama changed the whole course of drama history, especially turlish drama, in fact it was only after this drama appeared that many maany turkish dramas around military and soldiers appeared. The dilemma in this drama between the doctor and the soldier and their values and how they uphold them in completely different ways is just perfect and deep. I loved it❤️

this is one of the best scenes i could never forget...just so intense and touching; not because of a love story/confession but because all their life is at stake no matter which side your on. makes you have faith in every person's profession
