Something never talked about is Peter using "bombers" since the Germans used the tactic against him in the beginning so he knew how devastating it can be
I think many people have taken notice of that.

@Cari which film is better? Narnia or James Cameron’s Avatar.
Straight. Up. Courage.
My favorite line in the whole movie.
No remake can ever compare to this. Everything about this movie was perfectly executed.
But I would like this to be animated though.
Not perfectly but it’s great
I watched it yesterday and I think it’s poorly
I agree. The cast were brilliant in this!
Yes. I was so obsessed with this movie as a kid
"Numbers do not win a battle."
"No, but I bet they help."
"Are you with me?"
"To the death."
Damn this scene did an absolutely brilliant job of portraying courage. It isn't the absence of fear, it's feeling the fear and pushing on anyway. One of my favorite scenes in cinema.
General Oreius was right numbers don’t always win battles we just need to rely on our skills of combat and moves then we can win the battle even without bigger numbers and make use a few boobytraps as well to make the enemy army loose more of there soldiers and that will give us a way better chance like the Gryphon bombardment of giant rocks and the archers one is well man his high majesty King Edmund, Mr Brave and the other hero Narnia's archers too a whole lot of evil soldiers of Jadis army down didn’t they she will not be very please about that looks her army needed more training then she thought ow dear indeed yeah!

Thats right, a lot of armies died in Russias winter, giving Russia an advantage.
One thing I like about the movies is that they actually showed the battles. They didn't do that in the books and if you ask me the battles improve the storyline a bit.
They showed the battle in detail in The Horse and His Boy.

Narnia is one of those odd cases where I think the movie is way better than the book

I like how the CGI is better than 90% movies today.
It's because these days they gotten lazy and cheap with CGI.
I swear, the CGI in the late 2000s were something to behold
I knew they were CGI even as a kid, but it definitely helped with the immersion
Every blow felt heavy and impactful, and I could only dream of seeing that level of artistry again today.
@@milchesarreal6964this is from 2005
Nothing is epic anymore. Just cynical modern trash
@@BiG-JuPO1O1the issue is more the opposite honestly. Its common practice now for directors to change scenes last-minute, causing the CGI artists to have to rush to finish in time. They demand too many changes without respect to the limitations of the artform. They try to throw money at the problem, not realizing that their biggest hurdle is not budget but time
Even with all this time that has passed the graphics are amazing, the music is beautifully done, the nostalgia is intense and the movie remains magical even after 17 years! I love it!
I agree. I loved this movie growing up and its thanks to this film that I was introduced to LOTR and The Hobbit. While the latter's will be my general favourites, this film will always have a special place in my heart. Long live Aslan.

For a series made for kids, one I grew up reading, as an adult I realize how much more mature the story is.
i think some of the best books i have enjoyed have been ones i read as a kid, but could only fully appreciate as an adult: narnia, lord of the rings, a wrinkle in time, the little prince... great children's authors know how to give enough depth and maturity to a story so that it grows better with time as you grow older.

0:28 "Numbers do not win a battle" such a good line.

In the words of the Greeks “Numbers count for nothing”
They had giants bruh they had more than numbers
When it comes to winning a battle, at the end of the day it’s not about numbers it’s about tactics.

amazing how many things in this scenes were practical and looked so real
yeah this is such a good film i watch it over 100 times
I think many of us would do it differently... for example, the flyers - they didnt really have to fly so low to drop the stones - it would do damage anyway and they would be safe from arrows... Or why they didnt attack the witches rear forces who stood fresh away from the first clash - the cavalry with archer support could have stand on their own without the air support.... etc etc :D but nonetheless great battle with awesome soundtrack, thats for sure

I've heard that the White Witch's army has over 15,000 soldiers compared to Narnia's 5,000 soldiers (5,700 soldiers, if Aslan's reinforcements count). But White Witch's army suffered greater casualties which was 10,000 soldiers compared to Narnia's 1,000 soldiers (which were later revived and restored by Lucy and Aslan).

God, I love this movie. Once a King or Queen of Narnia, always a King or Queen of Narnia. Long live Aslan!!!!
Edit: when the music plays as the spawn of hell come up over the cliff, it gives me chills. I love that Peter is riding a unicorn; the animal universally acknowledged for symbolizing purity. The two armies are vastly different in the make of the animals. Aslan's side has animals built for speed: cheetahs, horses, rhinos, gryphons, and centuars. Meanwhile, the Witch, clothed in Aslan's fur, rides behind two lumbering polar bears. Her army consists of limping werewolves, drunken giants, small fairy-folk, and short but sturdy dwarves. She did not want speed; she wanted strength. I also must say, that I love the part when the Phoenix comes in, and starts the grass on fire, mimicking when God put fire between the Israelites and the Egyptians at the edge of the Dead Sea.
Believe it or not but in the books Peter was supposed to ride a tricorn (basically a unicorn but with three horn and is the complete opposite of a unicorn that while unicorns prefer women tricorns prefer men and are able to deflect magic but because people wouldn't know what a tricorn is they stuck with a unicorn in the films)

Hint if you have a smaller army and ur against a large army that will attack no matter what as they dont care about casualties, dont charge in their face, hold the line in the rocks to reduce the benefit of the greater numbers and pepper them with arrows, even without the reinforcements the good guys certainly could have won with the terrain available.
Whoever had the high ground are the winner
This is what happens when you let an teenager lead an army when he no experience of medieval battle tactics. This battle plan made no sense. Charge into open field against an enemy, take your archers completely out of the equation, release your secret weapon of the birds too early and expose them to enemy archer fire unnecessarily. Terrible strategy.
And then, to make it even worse, Peter comes up with just as bad a plan in the 2nd movie, where he once again commits to open field battle against a far better equipped and numerically superior army and once again needs a Deus Ex Aslan to ride in and save them. Solid enough movies, terrible actual leadership from Peter.
@@1532JJ yup it seems too common nowadays to see completely ridiculous battle plans being portrayed, game of thrones made me want to scream, you have an insanely strong castle, you also have a well dug out trench, do they use either to the full extent? no they stand infront of both like morons, dont even get me started on the full frontal cavalry charge by the dothraki, have all men behind the trench with the walls full of archers, as the dead crawl through they are easy targets meanwhile the archers massacre them, you then have the dothraki charge their rear in a classic hammer and anvil, the dothraki would have been immensely valuable against the looser rear formation of the dead rather than the tight packed swamp at the front, they could have wiped the army out without having to kill the night king
Yes, certainly this is important when battling armies of cow men and wolves with your big cats a goat people. Especially need realistic tactics in your children’s fantasy movie.
I agree if your army composition suits such encounters. However, the forces fighting for Aslan are mostly composed of high mobility centaurs, and the forces of the witch are mostly on foot. Holding the line would be beneficial for the archer support yes, but you forfeit the mass bonus of the centaurs on not charging. The charge of cavalry, particularly against a force with no formation, can be a deadly blow. The other issue is due to the larger size of the centaurs, Aslans army is more susceptible to arrow fire than the Witch's. Tieing down the Witch's archers is really the only option here.
You see this come into example in the battle of the Pelennor fields in Lotr. By your argument, since the Rohirrim also hold bows, they should hold an allow the forces of Mordor to advance on them. However, doing so would simply allow the Orc archers to kill off the Rohirrim slowly.
Tdlr, if there are plains that cavalry can charge on, they should charge on them. Cavalry aren't a defensive tool, they are an offensive one
This battle still blows me away. Even after all these years… once a king or queen of Narnia, always a king or queen.
