  • About a year ago, I made a video about Tatami mat with Miyake, The main character. But unfortunately, the video at that time was plenty mistaken and flawed. So I decided to redo the whole thing to bring the pride of Japanese people shares to the world.
Tatami is a unique Japanese culture, When you touch the depth of it, it makes you feel glad to be Japanese once again. We're proud to share with the world. Tatami craftsman, Katsushi Miyake preserves the tradition of tatami in Kyoto, the birthplace of tatami. There are still more secrets of tatami that you may not know. Today, I'm gonna tell you all.

What beautiful craftsmanship. It's a shame that they aren't more widespread, though I can understand why from a financial standpoint. Tatami needs to be changed every six months or so and not a lot of people want to invest in a floor space like that when they can get a wood one which lasts a very long time.

The new mats put into the temple were more green, than the old mats that were more brown. Is that because of age?
