Two Cows Load Themselves/ Branding Day/ Roping And Loading A Few Stragglers

- This Week we started by shipping all the johns canyon cows up on top to a new pasture where we will keep there for a month and brand them. We had to rope and load a few stragglers and rode lots of miles this week. We ended our very busy week with a big Branding on the Bar diamond ranch and had the best branding crew out there helping us. We are grateful for another good week ranching in gods country.
I love getting to see my amazing grandson each week. We love the videos you have the best office to work in. Beautiful country you share each week.

Haven't branded cattle for 25 years, when I moved from Wyoming,where I was working for the " star bar " brand, one of the oldest registered brands in the United States!

Very much enjoy your site. Makes me a little homesick. I was born in Price. Lived all over Carbon County and a little in Emery County. Love the high desert landscape. Wasn't as extreme as down there where you are, but there are some cool mountains and canyons. As a kid I and my friends were all over the place
Carbon county is a great place. We have family that lives there. we go through there all the time. Thanks for watching

Another Great Video...pretty sure I sleep in back of pickup, I would roll over in night probably fall off top of trailer...LOL...Love the views...Thanks for taking the extra time...Roping is like riding a bike, once learn, can always do, sometimes Lucky but a lot of Skill...I roped in my 20's & 30's then hadn't for 25 years, then one day a guy was cleaning out his pickup where I worked, I said is that a throwing or a ketching Rope, he said I don't know...I tossed out then coiled it right, told one of kids take off running as fast as can...threw rope, as was dropping pulled tight at shoulder height, he let it lose, pulled tight at ankle height...The Boss said that sure Lucky...I said NOT Luck SKILL...Boss lol then turned around started walking away, so I Heeled him...Boss said if I fall you are fired...I said If U FALL, I am going to tie your hands to feet...Now tell me was Skill & I let go...OK, OK was Skill...As I was walking away guy who rope it was said HOW U Do That...I said I WILLED IT but was Luck...LOL...Boss told other guys after I walked away "I didn't even see rope drop down from head" they said IT DIDN'T he Heeled U that was SKILL!!!

That’s some good loading! At My uncle’s elk Farm you should see them try to load those bull elk with their big horns it’s an ordeal. Luckily they only get loaded once in their life’s when they are ready to sell.

They do, so we try to get a bunch of them out of the coral before we start and then keep a gate between us. We have had them charge and grub us up many times. So we try to be careful

No you sure won't. According to scientist, it was water erosion. It is truly amazing

I'm very curious what your brand looks like and what it looks like on an adult cow. Do all ranches brand on the same area of a cow so you know where to look?
Hi Jessica, each brand is registered with the State that you live in. It includes a symbol that is unique to you, and a location on the animal that is unique as well. So you register the brand and location. An ear mark is optional, however, most folks register earmarks as well. Honestly it is a difficult process to find a brand and location that has not already been used. In a future video I will explain the brands and the location and what they mean.
