What an exciting day it is! At GenCon, the next Arkham Horror Player and Campaign expansion were announced. This video announcement was accompanied by an in-depth article revealing a collection of new player cards and campaign mechanics. If you look closer at Kōhaku's traits, he's Scholar, Blessed, and Cursed. Could we be getting a purple-fied Parallel Wendy?
This looks sick, the theme of Scarlet Keys was right up my alley and I did enjoy it but not as much as I was hoping. The theme of this is somehow EVEN more up my alley and I'm hoping it's gonna be a bit more simple in terms of the horror. The main thing I want is to be able to understand the plot after the first playthrough and ideally not have two scenarios be half done because I got too messed up. Just a return to spooky mansions and slightly lower stakes.
Dude who said intro, 3 days, 3 nights, finale is probably right. It'd be very tough to make a satisfying finale in a thing where you can pick where that finale is taking place so I bet once you get through the days and nights, the finale is like.... the final day or taking place during an eclipse or something.
Zorzi is the main character in two of the novels by Aconyte: Wrath of N’Kai and Shadows of Pnath
That's awesome, I'd love to see more investigators being pulled from books. Take some from the card art too!

My main contribution in comments on this channel is being annoyed y'all slander Rita Young so much (and incorrectly) but those red cards are gonna boost her even more.
What year are you watching our videos from? We've been positive on Rita for multiple expansions now.

I kinda would like to see some more primary level 0 to secondary level 1-5 (with 5 level 0).
I call them turncoat characters. Rouge turncoat Guardian, Mystic Turncoat Survivor and Survivor Turncoat Seeker could all be interesting I think. Really just all the turncoat combos would be interesting, hope they add them all eventually.
Also definitely need to have all the main class subclass combos covered so seeker sub rouge is the last one… so holding out hope for Kate.
Lastly I do kinda wish they had more neutral investigators.

With Hank Samson in the game, are there any more meme investigators?
I can see this as maybe a reaction to criticism of EotE/TSK, or maybe just variety, with a much smaller setting.
My confusion with Kate is: a) can she advance the act using clues on her assets; and b) why is she not sniffing things like Kate Winpup.
Clues on assets you control are still clues you control.(when you discover clues, you place them on your investigator card, which is in fact a card you control.)

Not 100% convinced Kate is Seeker/Rogue. Nice if she is, but might be tool/science keyword focused like mark, etc.

Kate's weakness with research notes is just like, a non-weakness, no?
Seems like you can use her ability and a skill card to pass it as well. So it's not that scary if you just plan for it.
And even if it hits you, it's probably not that bad. Often it's just going to be a couple of horror.

seems like we are having EOTE spinoff with allies playing an important role in game, and revisiting the same locations just like in ice and death

I can see it for a Survivor flex build and I imagine his deckbuilding and expansion card pool may alter how we view each side of his second form.

I can look more into it, but as far as I was aware, there was only one Arkham stream where they announced the new expansion.
@@PlayingBoardGames I jumped into the stream they were just doing and before my Internet died they said Arkham horror maybe they are dropping hints in other streams. But every stream everyone was asking for return tos 😂

midsommar, cool movie but where is cthulhu mythos/ theme ? is this is still arkham horror or just some generic campaign based the game mechanics ? scarlet keys is a campaign most people are not going to play again, and this is coming from the same new designers. My hopes are down.
Cults are a huge link in all weird fiction. They're obviously worshipping something, it's a matter of what.
@@PlayingBoardGamesI love Arkham and I'm looking forward to a lovecraftian horror, but if FFG has decided to remove themes that build it does it make a difference if in the end scenario we battle shub nigguraht or flying spaghetti monster?
The campaign also looks like it might lean strongly into 'The Colour Out of Space': look at the artwork (meteor crater by ruined house), mutated animals, the woods are 'alive' etc. I agree 'Scarlet Keys' was mythos light but this looks a lot more promising.
As much as I tried to get into Lovecraft's work I couldn't enjoy it. In fact, I don't know anybody who enjoys indescribable horrors or cosmic entities.
The game is one of the best games ever made and I think it's great that FFG are giving it more mass appeal.
@@ollie67584 lovecraftian horror is a genre of its own, and indescribable horrors straight out of HPL fiction are what has driven the inspiration for most campaigns (have you played edge of the earth?). Its also what has made me love the game - the stories and flavor. After scarlet keys and seeing the spoiler I do feel the same way, that FFG is reaching for themes familiar to a wider group, though I do not percieve it as a good thing. Watering down the source material to boost sales has backfired on many franchises. Nevertheless the campaign is still to be released, well see what happens.
The art on Kate's cards (especially her events !) is awful ! ^^
Plus, I really don't like her "sci-fi"-y thing.... It seems so weird, almost out of place for me.
The rest seems incredible though :)
It kind of fits with stories like 'From Beyond'. Science-fiction isn't necessarily incongruent with Lovecraft as long as it is of the right flavour. But 'The Call of Cthulhu' (which all of the Arkham Files games are essentially based upon) isn't really very faithful to Lovecraft anyway. I see the works of HP Lovecraft and the wider 'Mythos' as separate things and the games based on the Mythos as a further separate thing.
