Happy New Year From Niagara Falls , got our sailboat stored for the winter . Hopefully when things open up again we will trailer it down to John's Pass to visit my brother in-law . Cheers
Looks like you are having more fun this year on your boat . It is about 32c hear in Queensland Australian wecare taking the grkids out sailing tomorrow I would send you a picture but i do not know how to. Love your videos all the best for 2021 and stay safe. Cheers Richard
You have a wonderful boat ! My first boat was a Catalina 22 and then a Catalina 27 and now we have a Catalina 36 . We often think how great our 22 was to use! They are great coastal cruisers and soooo much more easy to just go out and use. Enjoy your boat, it has great cockpit size and the cabin are very usefully set up. I miss our 22 after watching your video!
@@AdventuresInParadise Using my dad's 39' powerboat I long for my 23' sailboat again! That I can push out from the dock by myself, and turn on a dime;)
81F New Years Eve! Obscene! (comment from a downstate New Yorker, here, tonight, 1/2/21, going down to 28F , rain all day tomorrow!) You guys are so lucky!
Lovely views, good video, nice music. Sleeping on a sailboat in safe waters must be an incredible experience! ... Have both a happy and prosperous year 2021 ... / LTMP
Ecellent start to yhe new year. I am just waiting on my new vedio cam in a couple of weeks. My current boat is 23 ft with the same sort of headroom as in your boat, so later next year i will be getting a lager boat, untill then i will just pod aroud with my hood 23. Happy new year. Gerard.
we sail in the dunedin area when we vacation in florida on our windrider 17 we launch from dunedin causeway. .we saw your boat by the marina. a good mod for the boat would be a bow sprit for the kight air conditions .an asymetrical spinnaker would be a great addition very easy to use. see some videos at andrea frees youtube channel to see how easy the spinnaker is to use . maybe next time we are down that way we can meet up on the water.
will let you know when we come back down . maybe april.we keep the boat at sail honeymoon when we are down there so we dont have to set the boat up everyday.
You’re looking super confident when handling the boat. I know it’s been a long learning experience. What advice can you offer to newbies like me who are anticipating their first season sailing having no prior experience. What are a few tips and lessons about day sailing you’ve picked up along the way that you had to learn on your own? I have a few moths to go before launch in Long Island NY.
Watch some of our other videos, you can see some tips and learning going on there! And sometimes I'm really scared still... I would say to try to be in open water, away from things you can hit if things go wrong. We try to sail in the skinny channel here and it's nerve racking to say the least, with boats going by and then when it's time to turn around, you can only do a 180 turn, sailing in two directions. Do everything BEFORE you really need to do it, so you have time when you realize you forgot to hook something or make something ready. I've gone to raise the main and realized the halyard isn't even connected, so make and use a checklist in the beginning, if not always - we still do.
No mosquitos on near the little shoal island but once when we were behind a 5-mile long island and the wind was blowing off the island, towards us, we saw two or three. We've stayed the night on a little shoal island and since there were no animals on the island there were no mosquitos. If it's too hot to close up the boat, I would have screens!
We never stayed on it long enough to need to do that. You can have a porta potty but that's why these are called day sailors. I can't imagine why anyone would want to spend more than one night on a boat this small, and we only did it twice and then bought a bigger boat.
If you are interested in selling the day sailer give me a shout I would be interested you have done great work and I’m looking to get into sailing keep up the amazing work we love the Dunedin area 🌴❤️
The process of changing boats is complicated. Keep an eye out for the next video where I'll explain. Basically we have some time as we can't just get a larger marina slip immediately and finding the next boat is another thing... and then well, the money part! Keep in touch. I had watched that this morning, thanks :-) the nicest, or at least the most expensive 22 ever. Kinda crazy if you ask me... but just goes to prove that the right boat is all up to the owner.
There are a lot of Catalina 34's out there for 30 grand that are really nice. With the boat and all, they have to have spent that much. I just wonder if you can sit in that boat while out in coastal waves. We've had it in the gulf and it's not comfortable to hang out on in those swells, and that's on a calm day.
@@AdventuresInParadise you should watch my channel. I have been sailing for years. Owned many boats. Currently have an O'Day 272. I have had bigger and smaller. This seems to be perfect for me and my wife. We sail the Pacific Ocean. Mainly the Channel Islands and Catalina Island. Good amount of room. Sailing the gulf you have to be careful with deeper draft boats. Something to really consider.
Happy new year. Wishing you positive energy and negative tests. You guys did the best way to spend new years eve. I had my last sail of 2020 about 4 days ago. Here's a link czcams.com/video/N_Mnq6stZSA/video.html
I'd like to congratulate you for not rolling in the _Jaws_ clip when Mrs Knot Sailing said 'get a bigger boat'.
Great way to spend New Year’s Eve. I was walking through the marina last week and spotted your boat. Nice.
Sailing in winter with just a T-shirt or sweater must be nice. Your Good weather sailing season is so much longer then we have in Holland 🇳🇱
Its sometimes better in the winter because it's too hot in the summer.

Envy, envy, envy--did get the holes drilled in the bottom today while it rained and got dark at 1600.

happy new year to you^^ a great trip^^
Another great video. It's so nice to spend NYE on a boat in our area!
Wait until you see our new boat... video to come soon!
Happy New Year. Your videos are great!
Thanks, you too!
Cool vid guys. Try keeping your outboard in gear when sailing. Better for outboard and actually faster
Happy new year 🥳

Enjoyed the video, did some drone footage of hurricane pass today. Shopping for a boat right now.

hi there! Yea, let me know when you're here! Or a larger boat that already has all that on it.... stay tuned.
will let you know when we come back down . maybe april.we keep the boat at sail honeymoon when we are down there so we dont have to set the boat up everyday.
A huge upgrade would be to find a 27 cat on a trailer, twice the room and a head with shower, and a galley.
I wonder if that'd be enough to sit out in the water off key west... hmmmmm . What if it's still "knot Enough"?

Same situation with us Matthew.
Happy New Year! Great way to kick off 2021. Looking forward to seeing how the adventure progresses this year.
Happy new year!
Loved your Fenway costumes pics! You both dressed up nice! I'm curious how are mosquitoes on your overnites?

I could live on that, I could catch my food.
If your vegetarian, swim down and get sea weed, or sea cucumber, those things look alive though to me, idk if it be considered veggie.
I have to ask. So, how do you go about going number 2 on the boat? It must be awkward in such close quarters. Do you have a porta pottie?
We never stayed on it long enough to need to do that. You can have a porta potty but that's why these are called day sailors. I can't imagine why anyone would want to spend more than one night on a boat this small, and we only did it twice and then bought a bigger boat.

They sell this stove for the cat 22 that’s pretty cool

Since you own a Catalina 22 figured you might want to watch this video about outfitting for the Bahamas. czcams.com/video/e5IxFQ3Wq2w/video.html
