I don't usually think rap fans are weird (I am a fan of several hip hop/rap songs, artists, and groups), but I gotta also point out the weird side of the genres that the previously mentioned rap fans in my school listen to. There are sides of everything and rap songs are no different; there are great rap songs with nice instrument usage and lyrics with meaning, while on the other side there are rap songs that seem to lack originality. I have listened to some modern rap/hip hop, and it all seems like the music tracks are just copy + pasted, the bass tracks are always the same, there isn't anything that stands out other than the rapper's voice. Take out the rapper's voice and you couldn't tell who the song is from. But even then, the rappers of more recentish years all use crazy autotunes that take away the special status of naturally great voices. And the lyrics? No matter who it is, what song it is, it always sounds like bragging about fame, money, ladies, men (depends on the rapper). While these topics may have still been touched upon by the older rap generation, it is done more in moderation to help give more meaning to the song's message, such as pinpointing local problems in the rapper's area. All of these and the recent boom of hip hop and rap still takes over modern generations and I honestly don't know how.
