Mikey is 100% right. Cheltenham is going to pot. Every sport prides itself on champions. If you were heavyweight champion of the world for the last 2 years and Mike Tyson comes along if your excuse for not fighting him is you have not been at your best in your last 2 fights so you will go and fight a little bloke because you have a better chance of beating him. You would be a laughing stock. But with racing honeysuckle wants to fight a little bloke instead of fighting constitution hill. It’s not a sport if the champion swerves the challenger.

The sport is dying from dilution, too many options throughout the season. It is now a game of hide and seek, no great duels throughout the season. Take all those rubbish mare races, Ryanair and put them all on the fourth day. The question is where is the sport???? Only enter the race you think you can win bollox. There should be no hiding place in the championship finale. The season is now boring, the DRF is better than Cheltenham now.
I am not sure I think the sport is dying but I agree too much micky mouse racing during the season. Too many grade 2s that should be handicaps (especially in England). Force the best horses to take one another on in the grade 1s or carry top weight in handicaps if they want to swerve each other. As for the mares races... I don't hate the Mares hurdle but I hate the other two - the mares novice and the mares chase. They have added nothing.
