I just love the fact that instead of playing a game the normal way, which often results in viewers feeling like they no longer need to go play the games themselves in order to experience it, you play it specifically the "wrong" way, which not only makes for insanely entertaining content but doesn't detract from the urge to go play it myself, but rather inspires me to get it and see how it would be to play it the "normal" way.

I think it's one of the strenghts of this channel, I think it's responsible of all my last games purcheses and at least half of my games wishlist XD
Josh is cut from a different cloth. He's far more different than any other youtuber and has been the only youtuber ever to make me laugh as hard as I do at his videos. He doesn't have to try hard and can effortlessly make a bad looking game into a fun one. Or make a 20 minute video seem like 2 or 3 minutes. Or make an ad into genius sarcasm. He's by far my favorite channel. I feel like other channels are just try hard funny and the editing is usually nice but there's no substance. Just rips off memes or whatever happens to be funny at that moment in time.

It's actually really refreshing and makes me appreciate Josh. We're getting advertised to constantly (Reddit for example is rife with astroturfing) but no one is being transparent about it.

My favorite thing about this is that he's super sarcastic about the contract required lines but, at the same time, his gameplay kind of makes me want to get this game.
The game is fun, but at this moment it's quite buggy due to launch and stuff is being ironed out, I'd suggest buying it next time it goes on sale

Me too! I was hyped when I read "Rendering the world unfit for human life" as an end-of-game condition. -- But then he did not choose the industry based Egyptians. What a disappointment :) -- Oh well, the game seems decently complex enough. So I doubt that one could figure out how to efficiently ruin the planet the first time around.

I usually come to a Josh vid to enjoy chaos and surprising events, but I have to say, seeing that the Stadia still exists was the biggest shock I've had in a while.

TBH, it felt like Josh was more or less _emphasizing_ how on-the-rails Sega left him here. Which is hilarious, because I have zero inclination to check out a company that's afraid of actual honest gameplay and has to railroad sponsorships.
SUBTLY? If anything he's trying to show people what a hot garbage this game actually is by emphasizing them, that it forces the people it sponsors to spout meaningless buzzwords instead of showing the gameplay, like the comment above says. Its "marketing strategy" is no different from that of a mobile -tax evasion ploy- game.

What’s it like not having rights?
I do genuinely really enjoy this game, but it needs some fixes and tweaks here and there. Solid 8/10 for me, just behind Civ 6 for me, which is just behind Civ 5.
yeah it definitely needs a few more narrative options and hopefully gets features from Civ 6 like climate change as well as more eras.

I cant believe a game has found a way of preventing Josh from creating the most mayhem before the frame rate drops, A turn limit until the game ends
it's because it's a paid review, notice how there are some white texts that appear on the screen that he must say due to the contract.
@@moonaddict Thats not the limit I'm referrring to. I was referring to the game ending once you reach 300 turns. The previous games Josh has played he would be able to stretch the game to its utmost limit after so many hours that ends up lagging the game.
Frame rate is not usually that big a deal in these kinds of games. There bulk of the processing happens in between turns, which is pretty noticeable in late Game, but that is probably edited out of the video.
@@Ragnarok2kx Yeah, this is a type of game that isn't very likely to ever run into that issue in the first place, unless it's running on a to weak machine. Turn wait may get excessive in large games, though, especially if you're dealing with one that insists on visibly moving everything and you can see the entire map.

it would be cool if this game had some sort of sandbox mode where you play with infinite turns, but it's significantly more difficult and there's more eras you can go into
you can choose game length when you start. 300 is default, you can choose longer. (600 max). also, you can keep playing after the 300 turn "win" condition. theres difficulty settings. not sure which he picked. can also pick number of A.I. enemies. he reduced it. and world size.
I have tought about that. It is difficult to invent new eras and new technology to play new eras.
