The distillers were a very influential band evidently. We have two bands now with brodys vocal style. The interrupters and the last gang. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery
@@rsjr14 I agree with you 100 pct. Sir. I don't understand the Brody/ Aimee Interrupter comparisons AT ALL. Yes Brody a great fuckin singer but (especially on the first two Distillers album, she is also screaming her head off!!). Aimee is much more laid back with her vocal approach.
i met Brenna when she worked at Guitar Center. its awesome to see that this band is on Fat Wreck Chords. Same Label i fell in love with because of great bands like nofx
This is obviously derivative of alot of Punk from 15-20 years ago (especially The Distillers) but it has some neat details here and there and the bass is nice, groovey and heavy. I like it. There are waaaaaaay less inspired bands on this label.
Not saying this to make any Brody-fans mad (I loved most ‘old Distillers’ too): I can see/hear why the comparisons, of course. It just wound me up to a bunny-mode when 90% of the comments are about Distillers and a “similar voice” Fuck similar. And there are big enough other differences too, I’d say where The Distillers win = pure raw energy, I mean that kinda power is kinda ‘brewing’ here. I found Last Gang today, so I am not gonna guess how long they need to ‘get there’, but there’s a good target! The Last Gang win = songwriting quality. Sorry, but this you can hear in just 3 minutes. I don't think it's a terrible song, but they seem too stiff and don't bring much energy to the song when we see them playing. Just looks like they're doing it because they have to.
why do female punk singers always sound like that - it's like when all the grunge bands put on that eddie vedder voice in the 90's. it would be nice to hear a female fronted band that didn't sound exactly the same as all the others. not going to fault her choice in guitars though; teles for the win.
