I made one of these, but it was centered at one place on the dowel and off on others. I check my specs, and then discovered the dowel was not perfectly round. I found a dowel that was round, and the device worked fine. Make sure the dowel you use is round and not off a bit. It will throw off your measuerments. Thanks for posting. Saved me some $$$$. More accurate than the metal monster I got from Sears years ago that never seemed to work right.
it works because the two wood piece act as a tangent to the circle and the tangent are always perpendicular to the center of circle which is the diameter of circle.
the moment you start drawing on paper is the moment you will never be precise. i would just use a circle of which i already know the center to find where the 45 deg angle is
Parallax isn't a big problem, because the circle will index on both sides of the square. Draw several lines and the amount of error will be indicated by the size of the center dot. A mechanical pencil will work better than a Sharpie.
Hey jack, don't you see the center is already there!! Why is it so hard for me to watch you be so hummm?. next time find an object that might make it interesting. Just sayin
@apached0026 Just think that what you said is very hurtful... It is not easy to make a video. Why not you do it then? You can change the style however you want right?

very nice......!!!!!
you MUST be a teacher :) very nice.
Great
Muito bom.
Please show me how to make a FM transmitter and receiver.
Not only circle! This will work with square too.
For square with the help of a simple ruler we can find the center no need for this tool. Think!

If you have this simple tool, you have no need for a ruler. Think!
Cool
Thanks
thank you
And your are always thinking about everything \o/\o/\o/
Visual paralax alignment of bisector, and realignment of the square to the lines, limits the accuracy. It is a good concept though

from which country are you ?
What is Kekistan??
its a inside jokes . *search in youtube*
First to like..
this is perpendicular bisector method
I studied in my school last year 6th standard
muito bom
or just use a square
Doesn't have to be a ruler.

Why are you being such an ass. He's simply showing how his device matches the center of the lid he is showing. Dickhead
